About

This shift is a one off. You don't usually work weekends but the pay is good, and before you know it the front door is locked behind you and dim buzzing halls stretch before you. so you walk forwards... your shift finishes at 07:30, just sit in the lounge and watch the TV like normal right?
Vended is a First Person single player horror experience.
set inside what seems to be a school.. empty, strangely furnished and with an illogical layout. You, the protagonist have to endure peculiar tasks and puzzles in order to escape.
Armed with a flashlight, keys, spare bulbs and batteries you have to do what you can to avoid danger, whilst the danger is actively seeking you out, hide in the locked rooms, and beware what awaits in the halls.
during your shift you will have to maintain the building in order to give yourself the best chances possible. Along the way you can find hints on how to find what you need to escape as well as clues about what went wrong here, and why you are being unrelentingly hunted by a big clattering box of snacks.
after your shift is up, make your way to the exit, unlock the door and run to your mummy, you have survived.
so good luck, it wont be easy!

Welcome To Vended! I made this game as a challenge to myself. "Could I make a vending machine scary?". sounds weird but this thought didn't come out of nowhere. The idea came to me after hearing a strange statistic: "Vending machines take more human lives per year than sharks do."
now that seems ridiculous at first, sharks are apex predators, fast and powerful, with jagged rows of BRUTAL teeth. and a vending machine... just sits there and offers food to passers by.... or does it???? Yes it does. but I thought maybe I could create a game where this high body count is clearly justified.
And I was right! I made a game where a vending machine is undoubtedly more LETHAL than a great white shark.

To start, this game is about a 5/10 for me. (Steam please add a maybe option) To start the description is not quite correct. Jumpscares is fine As for Sanity, there is no meter or even acknowledgement that there is sanity, and there seems to be no control over it. Hallucinations is vague but fine There are technically Multiple entities, 2 Cameras, as unhelpful as they are, they also are fine. Fuse box.......feature? You dont even have access to it till the end of the game and you just click it once. Key chain is fine. As far as lore goes i probably missed a note or 2 but i guess it fits the bill. dialogue is meh and thats if you count what your character is thinking as dialogue. I have beaten the game and there is no option for a new difficulty, not that i would really want to play the same loop again. The game also appears a bit different then whats shown on the steam page. The enemy doesn't have much complexity to it, classic roaming the halls till it sees you and gives chase, and the other enemy doesn't show up till the last 2-3 minutes of the game, with the same mechanic. The puzzles are unintuitive and not very fun. The price is also a bit high for what the game is, The only reason i have more then an hour play time is when you die you have to restart from the beginning. As far as enjoyment goes, a vending machine throwing itself down a hallway at you at 30 miles an hour is both hilarious and terrifying. Running into a room and watching the thing fly by the door is bizarrely hilarious. If the developer had focused on making the vending machine the star it should be, i think the game would be much better. In conclusion, the game has great potential if the dev adds more. The price is a bit high. It JUST breaks the thumbs up for me. On a bad day it would be a thumbs down. https://youtu.be/ndF1N-W8CqU
It's not perfect, but overall this is a fun game. At the new, lower price it's definitely worth giving a go - it has more depth than you'd expect. It easily gets a positive review from me. More than once I've found myself thinking about the game at work, how I died the night before and what I could do next to get further into the puzzle - I think this is the sign of a good game. The core gameplay loop is addictive. I wasn't sure about the choice of a vending machine as the main horror aspect, but it's done surprisingly well and is actually really scary. I've got a few clips of myself screaming like a school girl. As a self proclaimed 'horror game noob', I also think the amount of challenge is well judged. It's challenging enough that you won't beat it on your first attempt, or even your second or third. I still haven't managed to beat the game yet, but unlike many other games I can see myself actually coming back and trying some more until I finally reach the end. The AI is also better than I expected, with the vending machine having distinct "modes" that get more aggressive as you progress through the level. It's movement manages to be both hilarious and scary at the same time - flying and rolling around the level in an unsettling way. The graphics are about what I'd expect from this type of game. There's nice surface reflections and visual effects that really add to the gameplay - like the camera view stretching the hallways when running, etc. There's also good attention to detail and funny easter eggs across the level. You can tell a lot of love was put into a some the in-game models, it's not just an asset flip. The sound design is a mixed bag. The sound effects when make eye contact with the vending machine or are being chased are very good, but the overall ambience when you're just exploring the level and looking for clues, could be improved. The level can feel a bit too empty at times.
I sexually identify as a vending machine, ever since I was a young boy I dreamed of dispensing over-priced snacks to disgusting customers, people say being a vending machine is crazy and that I'm an idiot. But they're wrong, I am beautiful. I'm having a surgeon install a plexiglass screen and a multi-payment system (cashless of course!) I have already applied for my wholefoods card, one day very soon I'll be able to dispense most crisps and drinks from my internal organs. From now on I would like everyone to address me as 'Vendy' my new pronouns are as follows 'Vend/Vends/Vendself' If you do not support my new way of life then you are a Vendyphobe and should probably check your snack privilege.
