Honestly the atmosphere and all is great but the boss fights are just nonsensical. You literally have to watch a youtube video to understand what you have to do, the game does not do any attempt to explain you.
The game is spectacularly bad, the gameplay drags on the assets are reused endlessly and sadly this seems par for the course with VTM Games. The story isn't much to speak about either, devoid of any real substance with the minor lore drops you get from picking up artifact items that belonged to the cast of 4 characters in this game. The gameplay is not that much better, you're given the option of a very unsatisfying brawling combat where you punch a character twice and they ragdoll across the equator or you shoot them with a wrist-mounted crossbow sleep dart to feed. You're limited to 3 Bolts of Corrosive Vitae, Sleep Darts & Scorpion Touch Darts which all require you to drain 2 humans of 8 rats to create (Yes I counted.) No guns, swords, or even combative disciplines that don't bottom out your hunger to 5. More over, missions and objectives are extremely uninspired. For a Childe of Haqim. The Sons of Judges. 8 out of the 10 missions you're sent on you're expected and encouraged to not only go a Pacifist Route but a STEALTHY route which go hand in hand. So you're not allowed to touch anyone, you MUST sustain yourself on rats, your disciplines other than The Obfuscation tree are UNUSABLE entirely. And you're thinking "Maybe I'll just NOT do the optional objectives." well, goodluck unlocking things without doing so because you basically HAVE to do the optional objectives if you wish to unlock 1 discipline ability per mission. Otherwise you'd have to wait. The DETECTION system for a stealth game like this is ODD to say the least. Sometimes enemies spot you across the building and other times they're blind as bats to the VAMPIRE sitting 40 degrees off their line of sight. All in all, I would not recommend this game at any price point even if it's discounted to two cents. You'd do much better to watch it on your preferred platform and saving yourself the headache. To summarize, this VR Games tries to be Dishonored VR but without any of the stakes, creativity, or even the storytelling to back it up. You do mindless puzzles that even a potato is capable of completing and are expected to act like a Kindred with Humanity 10 by not killing anyone or anything unless it's relevant to the plot (Which is only relevant TWICE in the whole game.) 0/10, You'd do better by playing a Banu Haqim in an actual table with an amateur ST.
Once I saw I paid 4,79€ for this, yeah I can recommend it. A bit stealth, but why bother with stealth. Is it fun to be a vampire ? ⠀⠀⠀Yes Does it look nice ? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Yes Did this game bring back memories of Venice last year, the smell and the rats I saw while sleeping two nights in the old town? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Yes, but italy is cool
dont listen to the haters this ♥♥♥♥ kicks asssss <3 ^w^*~
Is a good stealth game at its core, but with story, metroidvania elements, environmental puzzles and a skill tree even if very minimal (one of the biggest weak point for me). Another core part of the gameplay is that to use skills you have to actively manange your blood (feeding on enemies when possible or others npc to replenish it) so is critical to choose when to feed and on who, or when to go more aggressive to not be without blood later on when maybe is more needed. The climbing mechanics, under some aspects, is on par if not superior of the one of Assassin's Creed Nexus, so is very smooth and agile, with no clunkiness at all. The strongest points though were the story and the abundant lore with a strong atmosphere and the enviroments. Everywhere is gorgeous to explore (especially for the illumination used), also vertically with windows that lead to buildings interiour or shortcuts or hidden alleys on the ground with secrets and lore to collect (Is well designed to funnel towards main paths, but it rewards a lot going off the main roads to explore around since you can climb almost everywherel) and Venice is very credible. 100% worth it even at full price.
games optimization is terrible once you get through the tutorial and go to the actual game where its more open optimization is thrown out the window
Disappointingly boring and linear to the point of railroading. It really is only a Quest-VR game and nothing more. It doesn't look very ugly, but it is obvious how little it does graphically, with basically no depth to anything, just flat textures on flat walls, a lot of repeated models and an artstyle I've already seen enough of. The world feels unreal; there is very little interactivity, only a few items can be picked up and they are used again and again (So many of the same pen, books, etc. Also very little different room decor.) The most effective way of attacking is using the instant kill blink, but if that runs out, it has a lot of bricks just lying around. Everywhere. Because you can't pickup any of the weapons people drop. It feels stupid how hard the game forces stealth instead of having it as the best option and offensive combat as a challenging last resort. I also couldn't get into the story, which wouldn't be that problematic, but there is just nothing else there for me. The combat doesn't feel good, the movement isn't that fun after the first few minutes and the world feels empty and cheaply made. There are objects sitting in each other and models clipping through walls. Killed people ragdoll funny after dying and break any immersion that the game is so desperately trying to build. It doesn't help that they can't really be interacted with any further. Rats blink out of existence after killing and dropping them. They couldn't even be bothered to make it work on other headsets. At least on the Vive a custom controller layout fixes it.
I can put up with the stylized 2010s graphics and the campy/cringy dialogue, but the VR controls are shoddy, the level design is questionable, and AI pathing is somehow both incredibly forgiving and incessantly punishing in equal measure. Some of the VR issues may be specific to the tethered Quest 2 setup I was using, but the hands are well below where the controllers are and the shoulders kept getting up in my face (why tf do I need full arms anyways?). The neck bite at first seems cool, but rather quickly gets annoying as you have to lean in over and over (you can't pull them to you like you absolutely should be able to). And with the inside-out tracking of the Quest 2, some parkour/climbing maneuvers are a pain (e.g. monkey bars). I was using the smooth look and smooth move which I do in every VR title that allows it, but even with that level of control, I kept running into situations where some random enemy would appear where I didn't expect, forcing me to rely heavily on the x-ray effect to see enemy hearts. The blink was one of the more frustrating parts with the beam sometimes refusing to turn on (maybe some sort of cooldown? who knows) and other times simply not going as far as it should, or not letting me go somewhere I thought I should be able to. I played Thief VR just before this and had original thought it somewhat mediocre, but playing this game has made me re-evaluate that title more positively after seeing all the little touches that game did better. I can't say this is the worst VR title I've ever played or anything so dramatic, but it's still far from a recommendation for me.
The game is OK. I never used stealthy tactics, I just killed everyone, which is pretty easy. The graphics are good enough. If you search for something like Thief or Hitman, this might be for you, but you won't have as many options, since the levels are very linear. There are not many alternatives to choose from. It took me 11 hours to beat the game.
