Bigfoot Life is a quiet, unconventional simulation game that stands out primarily because of its perspective and tone. Developed and published by Planet 47 Games, it flips the usual folklore-inspired formula on its head by placing the player in the role of Bigfoot rather than casting the creature as something to be hunted or feared. From the outset, the game establishes itself as a slow-paced, nature-focused experience that values atmosphere, exploration, and everyday survival over action or confrontation. It is less about winning or overcoming challenges and more about inhabiting a space and lifestyle that feels deliberately removed from modern urgency. The core appeal of Bigfoot Life lies in its relaxed approach to survival mechanics. You begin by customizing your Bigfoot and are then released into a sprawling forest environment governed by day-night cycles, weather changes, and seasonal shifts. Survival revolves around simple but intuitive activities such as foraging for berries and mushrooms, fishing in rivers, gathering resources, and finding safe places to rest. Hunger, stamina, and environmental exposure exist as systems, but they are tuned to encourage mindfulness rather than stress, allowing players to settle into a steady rhythm that mirrors the calm persistence of wilderness life. Exploration is the driving force behind most of the game’s enjoyment. The forest is designed to feel inviting and alive, with winding paths, hidden clearings, flowing streams, and subtle environmental storytelling that rewards curiosity. There is no constant push toward objectives or markers demanding attention. Instead, the game invites players to wander, observe, and gradually learn the layout of the land. This open-ended structure allows each play session to feel personal, shaped by where you choose to go and how you choose to spend your time rather than by a predefined narrative arc. Progression in Bigfoot Life is light but meaningful. As you survive and interact with the world, you unlock abilities that enhance your connection to the environment. These can include heightened senses, increased mobility, or mystical traits that allow you to heal injured wildlife or interact with the forest in more subtle ways. This progression reinforces the game’s theme of coexistence rather than dominance, presenting Bigfoot as a guardian or quiet participant in the ecosystem instead of a predator at the top of a food chain. One of the more charming aspects of the game is its interaction with other beings. Wildlife behaves naturally, other Bigfoot may appear in the distance, and humans exist as curious intruders rather than constant threats. Encounters with humans often feel playful or tense in small doses, such as avoiding being photographed or deciding whether to interfere with their presence. These interactions add texture to the world without pushing the game into conflict-heavy territory, maintaining its calm and observational tone. Visually, Bigfoot Life favors atmosphere over realism. The forests are colorful and dense, with foliage, lighting, and weather effects combining to create a tranquil and sometimes mysterious mood. The art direction doesn’t aim for cutting-edge graphical fidelity, but it succeeds in conveying warmth and immersion. Ambient sound design plays an equally important role, with birdsong, wind through trees, and flowing water contributing to a meditative soundscape that encourages slower play and longer sessions of quiet exploration. The game offers multiple modes to accommodate different play styles, from structured survival-focused gameplay to a free roam option that removes pressure entirely. This flexibility makes Bigfoot Life accessible to players who want a cozy, low-stakes experience as well as those who prefer some light structure and challenge. However, the same simplicity that defines its charm can also limit long-term engagement for players who crave deep crafting systems, complex progression trees, or strong narrative goals. Overall, Bigfoot Life is a gentle and thoughtful simulation that succeeds by committing fully to its concept. It is not designed to thrill or overwhelm, but to soothe and immerse, offering a rare opportunity to slow down and experience nature from an unusual point of view. While it may not appeal to players seeking intensity or depth-heavy systems, it offers a distinctive and calming alternative for those drawn to life sims, exploration games, and experiences that prioritize presence, atmosphere, and quiet discovery over constant action. Rating: 7/10
Recommended 👍 Bigfoot Life is a cozy and unique forest life sim where you live as Bigfoot. Fun gameplay, relaxing atmosphere, and rewarding achievements. Some bugs and performance issues, but nothing game-breaking. Lots of potential. Watch my playthrough here: https://youtu.be/mDWPeAYYjug
Bigfoot Life is a cozy little escape where you wander the woods, snack on mushrooms, and mind your own cryptid business. It’s oddly relaxing, charming in a rough-around-the-edges way, and perfect if you’ve ever wanted to live off-grid with maximum vibes and minimum humans.
Really bummed =/ And it pains me to give a no recommend, but.. I absolutely love the concept, and if standing still, the game/evironments/scenery look beautiful. I want to play this so very badly, but for me it has just been unplayable. Previously I had played the demo which I enjoyed, except that it also ran very rough. With the full game I had hoped, as is the case sometimes, that things had been ironed out and optimized significantly better as the demo is only intended to be a small taste of the game. However, shortly after booting up, my hopes were dashed while, once again, a wild amount of stuttering began in the character customization screen. Obviously the fur setting have a large impact on how demanding the game is, so I figured just get through the menu screens, turn fur settings to low for now, select look I want, and start up the game! Oh how silly of me. Three seconds in, the game developed a stutter like kind ol' King George, and would generally only ease up if I stopped moving. I understand games with a lot of foliage, and especially fur, with decent lighting and shading can be pretty demanding, but shouldn't be on this level. I definitely could use some upgrades on my hardware, but it is by no means a potato. 16GB RAM, RTX 3070, i7-7700, 2TB SSD, good air flow etc. So I could use some modernizing, but surely if I can run Cyberpunk on fairly high settings, Bigfoot Life should be functional, no? No. I attempted all sorts of settings arrangements, made sure GPU drivers are updated, eventually getting to almost all set on low, resolution at 60% in 1920 x 1080, HDR off, tried vsync on and off, fur off, all that good stuff. And STILL, when moving at a walking pace, the game began stuttering quite a bit. SO. I do not know what all is needed here, but for sure some serious optimization is. Perhaps there is something obvious that I am missing? Wouldn't be the first time I suppose, I would be happy to find out it is something I'm doing wrong on my end. I don't expect it to be perfect, I am an avid consumer of a stupid amount of indie games, I love them, and at times the imperfections add a lot of flavor to the experience. This game seems like it has a lot of potential to be really enjoyable and relaxing, and could be a lot of fun to play if I can get it to run smoothly. I am not ready to write off Bigfoot Life yet. Would love to get to play it, but some sort of fixin' 'er up needs to happen.
I love this stupid game dude. lol
Being Bigfoot sounds like a cool idea, but not with this game. There isn't much too it, and it right out of the gate it was bland and boring. It's simply not worth $20 USD, and honestly I don't think it's even worth it on discount. Probably should just pass on this game.
its cool ( maybe can you add multiplayer)
When I was told there was a game based on my own life, I couldn't believe it! Yes, I remember throwing trespassers out of my forest, screaming at animals, and helping mushrooms grow with my fecal matter. The woods may have been scary, but they're home, and I will defend the forest with my life...
