Valkeala Climb Race is a platformer driving game. The maps are short taking 30-45 seconds to complete. The game gas 9 levels to play. I managed to get stuck on several of the maps so its obviously not completely brain dead gameplay. Adjusting speed seems to help but getting flipped upside down is a tad more challenging. I played this on my Dell XPS 9570 with GTX 1050 Ti Max Q graphics.
Warning: AI Slop Marketing materials for this product were produced with soulless AI generated content.

Warning: Asset Flip! Valkeala Climb Race is an asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated someone else's example/template/tutorial game, changed the name/reskinned a couple of things, and submitted it to Valve as if it was their own game.
Valkeala Climb Race is a low key asset flip. The "developer" has used pre-made assets to build this game with a minimum of original work. While not as egregious as a full asset flip, this still represents a low effort product that doesn't merit serious consideration. In this case, Tero stole a simple Unreal based "2D truck physics" game template and slapped some low quality assets (and some AI slop looking ones) on it, and rushed it onto Steam as a barely working non-game to try get more money from AI slop and other people's work. This is morally reprehensible and absolutely harmful. Tero Lunkka/Valkeala Software have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The mismatched game assets are fairly mediocre/low quality, it's a wonder why they couldn't be bothered "borrowing" higher quality assets for this asset flip. This is a lot like going on a shoplifting spree but only stealing the cut price store brand goods. Regardless, the poor quality assets alone should be enough to deter gamers from bothering with this. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. Those technical flaws drag this game well below the minimum quality standards expected of a modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk. This kind of asset flipping isn't harmless. It makes it harder for gamers to find genuinely made games from ethical developers. It makes it harder for genuine indie developers, who put hard work into trying to make real games, to find an audience for their products. It gives indie developers a bad name. On to pricing and the question of value. Should you buy this asset flip? Is this one of the best of the 140,000+ products on Steam? Absolutely not. Valkeala Climb Race is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Because this is just a fake game/cash grab scam, and due to the sheer unethical nature of the developer, you should avoid this completely. Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from Valkeala Software/Tero Lunkka. The use of AI slop is a direct insult to gamers and real, ethical content creators and artists everywhere.
Very basic "climb-racer" Couple bugs to stuck, it's up to luck, if u can pass... After chatting with Dev, patch coming... Easy Achievements, 100% / ~15min. (Without bugs, under 10min)
Valkeala Climb Race is a small indie driving challenge game developed by Valkeala Software in collaboration with Tero Lunkka and published by Valkeala Software. Designed as a lightweight arcade-style experience, the game focuses on short off-road driving challenges rather than traditional competitive racing. Instead of competing against other vehicles or participating in tournaments, players are placed into compact levels where the main objective is to maneuver a vehicle across rugged terrain and reach a target before time expires. The overall design reflects the philosophy of many minimalist indie projects: quick gameplay sessions, simple mechanics, and straightforward goals that can be understood immediately. The core concept of the game revolves around driving a large SUV-style vehicle across uneven landscapes filled with hills, ramps, and scattered obstacles. Each stage contains a star hidden somewhere within the environment, and the player must reach it before the timer runs out. The time limit for most levels is quite short, usually under a minute, which creates a sense of urgency and encourages players to move quickly through the terrain. Although the objective sounds simple, the terrain itself often introduces challenges that require careful driving rather than simply accelerating as fast as possible. Gameplay mechanics are intentionally basic and easy to grasp. Players control the vehicle’s movement across the terrain while attempting to maintain enough speed to climb hills and reach elevated areas. The physics-based driving element becomes the main source of challenge, as poorly timed jumps or excessive speed can easily cause the vehicle to lose control or become stuck in awkward positions. Players must learn how to approach slopes, ramps, and uneven ground in order to maintain momentum without crashing or flipping the vehicle. In this way, the game shares some similarities with physics-based hill climbing games, where mastering the terrain becomes more important than racing against opponents. The level design is structured around a small set of short stages that function almost like puzzle challenges. Each level presents a different layout of hills and obstacles, requiring players to quickly assess the environment and determine the most efficient path toward the goal. Some levels encourage players to take advantage of ramps that launch the vehicle over gaps or onto higher terrain, while others demand slower and more controlled driving to avoid collisions with moving characters or environmental hazards. Because the timer is always counting down, players are constantly balancing speed with control in order to reach the star before time expires. Although the game contains only a limited number of stages, each level introduces small variations in terrain and obstacle placement that keep the short gameplay loop from becoming completely repetitive. The levels are designed to be completed quickly, making the game suitable for brief play sessions. The straightforward objectives also make it easy for players to restart a stage immediately if they fail, encouraging repeated attempts to improve performance and find more efficient routes. Visually, Valkeala Climb Race adopts a simple and functional presentation. The environments are composed of basic terrain shapes representing hills and slopes, while the vehicle itself is rendered with minimal detail. The visual style reflects the modest scale of the project, prioritizing clear gameplay visibility over elaborate graphical effects. While the graphics may appear basic compared to larger racing games, they effectively communicate the layout of each level and ensure that players can easily identify ramps, obstacles, and the star they must reach. The interface is similarly minimalistic, providing only the essential information needed to play. A timer displays the remaining time available to complete the stage, and simple menus allow players to select levels or restart attempts. The uncomplicated interface helps keep the focus on the driving challenges themselves rather than overwhelming players with additional features or customization systems. Sound design in the game remains fairly simple as well. Basic audio effects accompany engine movement, jumps, and collisions with objects. These sounds provide feedback for player actions but do not significantly enhance the atmosphere of the game. Background music is present but relatively subtle, functioning more as light accompaniment than as a memorable soundtrack. Given the short length of each level, the understated audio presentation does not become distracting during gameplay. One of the most notable aspects of Valkeala Climb Race is its extremely short overall runtime. Because there are only a handful of stages, experienced players can potentially complete the entire game in a very brief amount of time. For players interested in collecting achievements or completing every level, the game can be finished in a single sitting. This brevity makes the game feel more like a small arcade-style challenge rather than a fully developed racing experience. This limited scope may be appealing to some players who enjoy quick and straightforward indie games. The short levels and simple mechanics allow players to jump into the action without spending time learning complicated systems. However, players expecting deeper progression systems, additional vehicles, or more expansive environments may find the game somewhat lacking in content. Once all stages are completed, there are relatively few reasons to return unless players simply enjoy repeating the challenges. Despite its simplicity, the game still offers moments of satisfying gameplay. Successfully navigating a difficult hill or landing a jump that leads directly to the star can create a small but rewarding sense of accomplishment. Because the timer creates constant pressure, even small mistakes can dramatically change the outcome of a run, which adds a bit of excitement to the otherwise straightforward gameplay loop. Overall, Valkeala Climb Race is a very small-scale indie driving challenge that focuses on terrain navigation and short time-limited objectives. Its minimalist design, simple physics-based driving mechanics, and quick stages make it accessible for casual players who want a brief and uncomplicated experience. However, the extremely limited amount of content and lack of deeper gameplay systems prevent it from offering the same long-term engagement found in more robust racing titles. For players who enjoy short indie experiments or physics-based driving challenges, Valkeala Climb Race can provide a quick burst of entertainment. While it may not leave a lasting impression due to its small scope, it still succeeds in delivering a straightforward off-road driving challenge that can be completed quickly and enjoyed in short play sessions.
