I discovered Va-11 Hall-A quite a few years after its release, while searching for a good game to play on my low-end PC. It was hidden away in a list, on a random website. Still, I was intrigued. And..well, I downloaded it. It sat on my desktop a while, before I even opened it ONCE. However, during a school break, in spring or autumn I believe, I got to actually play it top to bottom, getting every ending. I am ashamed to say it, but I pirated it at first. Back then I did not have the money to spend on games, or anything like that. I believe I didn't even have a Steam account back then, or if I had it, I didn't use it. It left me speechless, that's how good it was. I played it on my birthday, literally at midnight, with a glass of whiskey in one hand and my mouse in the other. It was a calming, surreal experience. Literally the day after, I bought the game, at full price, and I do not regret it ONE BIT. I proceeded to also decorate my desk with things that reminded me of this game and its special world. Hell, even yesterday, I printed out the "BEST BOSS" poster that Jill keeps on her wall. The game taught me a lot, and made me have a different view on life. I learned to face my problems directly, instead of letting them simmer and worsen over time, like Jill did. To this day, this game delivers one of the best lessons anyone could ever get on the topic of LIFE! As soon as I got my new, powerful PC, VA-11 Hall-A was the first game I put on it, just out of respect and love. If anyone is reading this, unsure if they should buy it or not, please do. This game offers a lot to people that are searching for who they are, and what values they should chase and uphold. Happy birthday VA-11 Hall-A, and happy birthday, Jill.

I know I'm gonna be the odd one out but I don't like this game. At all. I tried to like this game. I really did... I thought it would be a fun and chill cyberpunk bartending game based on the 'overwhelmingly positive' reviews and praise. I bought this game years ago and got recommended to go into it blind. Playing it now, I’m honestly shocked the game doesn’t have clearer mature/sexual content warnings because wow. The amount of sexual dialogue genuinely caught me off guard. Especially Dorothy. The way these characters casually talk about s3x every five seconds just made me uncomfortable and it was NOT what I expected going in. Steam also never showed me the LGBTQ tag back when I bought this nor did any of the top reviews mention this, so I assumed it was mainly a cozy story game where you casually bond with customers while bartending and giving them a safe place to talk. Instead I got hit with edgy mature jokes, fetish dialogue, and prostitution talk almost immediately which just felt forced to me. Not for me, which sucks because the art is BEAUTIFUL. I genuinely was so hyped to play this and thought this would become one of my comfort games. Instead I just ended up disappointed.
