[後半に日本語レビューあり] [h1] A mom dragged into arcade game hell [/h1] Not only a nostalgia trip to the golden age of arcades, but also colored with hand-drawn art and direction inspired by 80s–90s Japanese anime, that is what “V’s Rage” offers. A stressed mom is dragged into a low-poly world, and the rules change every stage. Belt-scrolling, bike chase, side-scrolling shooting, on-rails type—the developments continue unpredictably with no way to know what comes next. The hand-drawn anime-style characters burst with exaggerated expressions and collide with low-poly background design. Cutscenes are strongly comedic, and enemies such as “smartphone-addicted satyrs” also appear with satire. The overall tone feels like watching a “phantom 80s OVA,” and the art style as a whole has a sense close to Rumiko Takahashi’s drawing. It can be said to show the creators’ love for Japanese animation. The difficulty is intentionally high, with basically no tutorial, designed for you to acquire skills through trial and error and retry. There are hit detections that feel unreasonable and specifications that partially disallow diagonal movement, but those can also be said to be elements that reproduce the “classic arcade feeling.” As you repeat, you learn the patterns, sharpen your reflexes, and the sense of accomplishment when you finally break through becomes a certain one. Each genre’s system itself is simple and not so deep. However, the diverse modes switching in short spans are exactly this work’s charm. From parry-centered brawls to bullet-dodging bike battles, it is a game that packs “the old arcade festival feeling” widely and shallowly but with good tempo. Considering the content, the price is modest, so as a work that reconstructs the passion of 80s–90s anime and the arcade era in a comical yet challenging way, it is surely worth trying especially for players of that generation. a bit rough around the edges but I seemed to enjoy it! the changing of episodes to different gamemodes was great.

The game is fun, the artwork is beautiful. I find it perfect for Steam Deck. It's a great dive into the arcade world, the challenge is well balanced, and there's always the drive to try again.

Game runs excellent on Steamdeck, graphics look nice with the cartoony style. I like the artwork of the main character, love her hairstyle and outfit. I have played the demo before also, the game is quite hard. There are no checkpoints unfortunately. But the gameplay is fun!

This game kinda looks cool and music sometimes pretty decent but gameplay is very meh and it needs a lot of work

Feels like a copilation of newgrounds games. Its ok, can be fun and challenging but is not for anyone. ♥♥♥♥ those space pigs

This game pushed me to the limits of my sanity at times. In fact, I almost threw in the towel at one point. However, I'm glad I hung in there and got through the whole thing, because despite a few bs gameplay issues, you are actually rewarded for figuring out enemy patterns and implementing the proper strategies. Some sections might feel impossible at first, but if you're patient, you can do it. Not sure how the game plays on easy, but if you're looking for a good challenge, normal will test your mettle more than enough on a first playthrough. Give it a shot please! V’s Rage è una sorpresa: grafica retrò fatta a mano, gameplay che cambia ad ogni livello (beat ’em up, sparatutto, platform), solo sfida vera. Nemici assurdi. Tanto humor e prezzo basso. Indie italiano di una piccola casa e fatto col cuore, consigliatissimo!
