Unsung Kingdom is a nice casual F2P and simplified turn-based JRPG with good looking visuals. What impressed me the most was how streamlined the gameplay is. Usually in these turn-based JRPGs I'm going through many menus for every fight and it feels like a chore, but not here. The game is played with mouse only and it's one click to perform any action to end the turn. Sometimes there is a chance for a counter attack on the enemy turn, but the window of opportunity is way too short, so it's not something to rely on. The random enemy encounters are handled well by not being forced on you. Instead, you can choose to engage the enemy or continue on your path. These game design choices made the game fun. Don't expect a lot of depth or challenge, this is a casual experience after all, but what is there, feels nice to play through. Playstyle freedom is offered by 3 special skills that come from the equipped weapons. But since the 3 main characters have different stats, they will naturally have a role they are better at. The story is quite linear and the only backtracking you will do is in the specific zone unlocked for the chapter. Overall it's an enjoyable adventure with an interesting time travel story to save the king, good looking visuals and pleasant soundtrack. Small grind is required to keep up with the suggested levels for the zones, but it isn't something that takes over the majority of the playing time like usual JRPGs. For achievement hunters: The only missable achievement is for completing all the quests.

A brief game just to pass the time? GAMEPLAY: Using the mouse to play an RPG (if you don't own a controller) is kind of unusual but in time you get used to it. Combat is probably fun but way too easy. The inventory is simplistic. I liked the fact that encounters are optional; it is actually up to you whether you wish to engage in each combat. In addition, boss fights are surprisingly engaging and challenging, and counterattacking is an interesting feature that tests the speed of your reflexes. Lastly, there is no need for infinite grinding. STORYLINE: The game is pretty straightforward; you have to get from point A to point B without the complexity of an AAA RPG. The story is not very engaging and made me feel impatient. Dialogues could be less "chatty". Nevertheless, I enjoyed the references to Greek mythology (Troy, Cassandra, Hector, Orthrus, Dionysus. The depiction of same-sex infatuation is cute and inclusivity is something we still need, especially in less advanced countries. I also enjoyed the mildly mature references (Annabelle, Succubus). AUDIO/GRAPHICS: Visually the game is okay. The soundtrack is relaxing. Some effects are interesting (e.g. the rain in Chapter 4 and the floating cloud at the entrance of the Temple of Grefalde). Other than that, I cannot say I was immersed in the game. The game had potential, but I'm afraid it does not offer much for demanding players. This is understandable considering the brevity and price of the game. Still, the story is forgettable and does not have any replay value. Nonetheless, the game serves its purpose for free casual gaming, I guess.
RPG Maker strikes again! Unsung Kingdom is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. This is a painfully generic RPG Maker asset flip about the developers imaginary girlfriend/waifu who travels back in time to entertain him in this garbage high school anime club dropout fanfiction... the cringe here goes up to 11. Bonus for the fake looking reviews. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.

A very simple but well-made jrpg with a nice story.
Before I played Unsung Kingdom, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
so many lesbians, you'd think the game was written by Toby Fox (it wasn't tagged LGBT) there's 3 lesbian couples and no straight couples lol anyways like the other comments said, very streamlined and fast-paced turn-based jrpg with your basic isekai thoroughfare i thought it was weird that you play with one hand but its an asian game with a mostly female cast so writing is a little iffy but that's probably just the english translation there's a few bugs but nothing that seriously grinds my gears love the game design so it gets a thumbs up
I was looking forward to play this game, but i encountered few technical limitation and decided to give up. Here's the list, - No keyboard support no matter what "UI Type" i choose. It's big turn off for me. - Fullscreen mode (F11) is rather blurry. - Text sometimes is blurry on both windowed and fullscreen mode. But if you don't mind those technical limitation and fan of classic RPG you should give it a try. It's free with small download size, so you almost have nothing to lose.
