Two thumbs up from me. Perhaps the game doesn't exactly reinvent the wheel, but it has it's own verve, it's own charm. I wanted to wait until I had more time under my belt before giving a review, but I'm so pleased by this that I couldn't wait. I stumbled on this while searching for open world survival craft games. I already have things like Ark for my Xbox One, I was looking for something..... I'm not sure what I was looking for.... something a little different. And "something a little different" is exactly what this is, and I'm totally stoked. Perhaps this might not be for everyone, but I'm digging it :)
Play time per dollar ratio is very good. Single person developing the game and the content is growing. If you want a fun little survival game it is well worth $3.99. If you expect the moon and the stars then you should buy a big box game and pay a big box price. Note: You need to HOLD the left mouse to attack, not click. You need to HOLD the spacebar to pick up items, not press. You need to use the build hammer to create objects after you place the blueprint.

cute lil survival game with silly enemies :]
If you're looking for challenging combat or deep story then Unknown Planet is not for you. But if you just want something low key and simple for a relaxed couple of evenings then it's a great choice. It's got the typical open world survival crafting game loop: gather resources, craft/build/farm, beat a boss to unlock the next tech tier and rinse repeat until you beat the game (Yes, there's an ending, but you can load your last save afterwards and keep playing, so no missable achievements). The gameplay's overall very intuitive, there are tool tips for the important stuff and the rest you'll easily figure out. Combat mechanics are simple and even boss fights are pretty casual difficulty. Only the final boss fight can get a little bit hectic, but nothing like Terraria boss fights. :D Just save right before the fight, so if you get yourself killed, you just load your save. Death means loading your last save, so it's best to save often. Base building is very simple too - pretty much just floors and fences and a few decor pieces aside from crafting stations. So don't expect to be building a huge pretty mansion. But honestly if you watched the trailer for the game you'll know what to expect. :D I very much enjoyed the 8 hours it took me to beat the game and for a few bucks I think that's good value. I got exactly what I was after. A short hoarding and crafting-focused game that can be completed in a sitting or two depending on how goal-oriented you are while playing. :D Only real con I can think of is that you can't move/pick up placed items. You only get some of the resources back when you break something, so keep that in mind before placing something. But resources are easy to come by, so it's not a big deal. I do recommend upgrading to better storages/fences asap. An enemy will occasionally spawn near you and if there are building pieces between you and it, it will attack said pieces until you draw aggro away from them. Wooden items break FAST and you loose all the content, if it's a container of sorts and an enemy breaks it. These enemy attacks only happen about once an in-game day, so it's a minor detail. It's just one enemy, so it's easy to deal with, and it always attacks where you are, so the base doesn't get attacked while you're away.
Good game so far. Needs house building for a safe area from enemies.
Bad models/graphics Movement controls are working well maybe make walking faster or a sprint mechanic Has potential One bug/issue I've noticed is that when building things like a furnace, chest, and etc it becomes a transparent blue block and doesn't function at all. The only thing that built properly was the crafting bench.
fun
Such a cute game. No story at all which is a slight disappointment but I liked everything else. The fluid motions, the bright colors, the simplicity, and the soundtrack. Such great music while playing this game that I didn't even put on a youtube video for background sound. It only took me a few hours to beat but that's fine. I enjoyed those few hours. I'd love to see them add more to the game, perhaps another planet you crash land on after you get off of the first one.
good game so far very addicting
