I've purchased Battlecruiser 20 years ago as a teenager. It was very ambitious, and after patches very well made piece of my dream space simulator. I could immerse myself with role of big battlecruiser capitain, my crew, and my resposibilities in GalCom space and behind. Terran GalCom Commander has to protect GalCom assets as of trading ships, diplomats, trading space station and those of military assignment. It also can make profits from trade. My favourite mode is free roam in this game, as I can do what I described in short above. It was the first game like this. During those 20 years, especially recently many indie games try this genre, but many of them lacks to some degree what this game has since 20 years in standard. What I miss from this game is ability to walk by interior of My ship. And building stations and factories/military instalations both on surface of planets or in space. You can however put defence systems on orbit, also You can nuke any planet You wish if research on Your ship provided special weapon for this. Crew on My ship is mixture of high ranked officers, marines, technicians, medics, even research bay with research officer. Ships are constructed from parts, You have to repair them if broken, replace if destroyed, or can pgrade (only engine, hull, shields). You have also vast galaxy to conquer / defend. But this game also has very detailed command intrerface, going deep into every aspect of My ship. Many stations inside bridge, controlled both by high ranked officers, but also Cmdr himself. For me it was piece of art for 15 years ,and still is very unique gem in gaming. And I've seen thousands of games I played for last 26 years of my gaming. It needs thinking, finding resolution of many aspects of ship commanding Yourself, very carefoul planning, and lots of time since it has very steep learnig curve. My Favourite for last 20 years. It has no 'streamlined' tutorial for masses, and does not hand You directions what to do. A true sandbox. My final verdict : - for me and other people closing to 40, focused on above immersions mechanics : 10/10, - for kids, nowdays teenagers: NO-GO - You would be overwhelmed with so many options this game has, it plays differently than todays AAA hits.

Well, it's complex as hell and counterintuitive, no doubt about it, but i kinda like to fiddle around with this abomination of a computer game. People talk about a too long manual ?, try Command: Mondern operations or Dwarf Fortress. In other news: Derek Smart, Derek Smart, Derek Smart... Lets wait...
10 лет назад бесплатно взял и провисела 10 лет в библиотеке без внимания... Ну получила она щас внимание и что? В игре нет туториала, врубил туториал миссию полетал немного но так ничего и не понял даже базовую базу... Пусть дальше пылится...
for some reason i thought this was the video game for that space movie with john travolta from the 90s... battlefield earth .. battle cruiser 3000 ad.. i dunno it just sounds like they go together.. jokes aside.. if your like.. a super space sim nerd, then yea... or if u just dont like fat face chris roberts and his p2w rich boi virtual space yaht simulator.
This is an interesting concept for a game . But it is kind of a niche game that will probably only appeal to a certain kind of gamer who likes detailed simulations and knowing exactly what is happening. More casual players will probably dislike it. 7/10 , could be better but a satisfying game for a certain kind of player.
Outdated graphics but interesting and challenging gameplay
Well i cant realty describe how bad this game is, not because I can put it into words, but because i dont want to get sued by Derek Smart
Nope

IF A FOOL LIKE ME CAN LEARN THIS MASTERPIECE THEN ANYBODY CAN! Best space combat simulator ever thank you Derek Smart!
