Video: https://youtu.be/ErNGFyBB5bg Undergoes is a survival game with crafting where you're piloting a drill ship through a planet. Gather resources, build stuff, kill centipede ant things, and eat mushrooms. That's the general idea of what I saw in my playtime. I didn't put a lot of time into it because it's lacking a lot of the things that draw me to survival games. My video highlights more of the pros/cons of what I saw, but I'll do my best to summarize things here. Let's start with the general concept. We have a drill ship, travel through the interior of a planet a la The Core or Journey to The Center of the Earth. We find underground forts, large caverns, and some creepy creatures that we can hack to bits for some delicious snacks. There's also crafting, but in never really feels quite necessary or crucial. Which means I had little incentive to build anything, or create things. I feel like things would have worked better with creating additional parts of our ship, allowing us to build different crafting stations/research, decorations within it. A mobile base of sorts. The idea of finding my way back to a cave I'd been at previously seemed to be something that simply wasn't going to happen. Gathering resources is easy enough, but lacks a real sense of visual feedback that gives you an idea of how it is going. There were times I wasn't sure if I simply couldn't gather a resource, or if it was just taking a long time. Crafting is like old-school Minecraft, where you'll need to put resources in specific spots while crafting. It works, there's just not a real push to actually craft much. At least not in the beginning of the game. The thing is, for survival games I do think they need to grab your attention very quickly. And unfortunately Undergoes doesn't quite pull that off. It's a solid idea, the implementation just isn't as good as I'd like. It's hard for a survival game to stand out in the vast sea of survival games, but if you're a fan of the genre there's a demo if you want to give it a try.

[EDIT] For a game developed by a 16-year-old all on his own, this is already far from what many could have done. This game is very good for that standard. However, the comments below still stand. I'm looking forward to the development journey of this creator, and hope that through proper guidance and preseverance, Undergoes could eventually become a better game. First off, I received the game for free, so thank you David Montesi Rivas for your generosity. However, it's hard to recommend this game because of a couple of things. Firstly, I don't know what is supposed to be your buy-in for this game. Context matters. For the majority of my experience with this game, I don't know what I'm supposed to be building towards. There is a recipe notebook that prescribes what I can make, but I have zero incentive to actually make any of the recipes within. Secondly, the game has uninteresting environments. There are weird insect-like creatures that inhabit the caves, but there's no rhyme or reason behind the caves themselves. There are no biomes for as far as I could tell, except that caves appear to be differentiated between different kinds depending on what resources you could find in them. However, they're not intuitive and the game doesn't teach you anything about the caves. Thirdly, the combat is ineffective. You simply spam your mouse button to hit enemies. This also hits the mechanical feedback of the game in general. There is a visual queue that you're gathering a resource - there's a circle that grows inside your reticle that roughly informs you of your collecting progress, but it's barely noticeable and sometimes disappears randomly. The tactile feedback is also missing. There aren't any particle effects that you'd expect from mining resources. There is also no multiplayer from as far as I can tell, and that severely limits the game's potential. Overall, Undergoes is as sandbox as a sandbox game could get. After a short tutorial informing you of the game's mechanics, it leaves you on your own to figure everything out. This would have worked out if the game has properly set your expectations, provided you with a context and a story on why you should care about what you're playing, but lacking those, this game is simply a playground that you'd stay in until you get bored - and did get bored fairly quickly. Thank you David Montesi Rivas for the key.
Undergoes is one of those games that gets you through the eyes. The art is the first thing you notice and it's genuinely good, it has an atmosphere that few indie games manage without a large team behind them. The problem is that when you start playing the loop feels slower than the aesthetics suggest. The caves are procedurally different but after a while they all feel the same. It's not that it's boring, it's that it never gets as interesting as it seems like it's going to be. Still, there's something that keeps you going down. If you're the type of person who enjoys the process of exploring and collecting without needing the game to pressure you constantly, you'll probably have a good time. It's not for everyone. But it's also not what some people say it is.
Me Atore en la Nave xddd
There's good and there's bad. This game being an indie developed game by a single person will always make me more forgiving. I think there are good mechanics and thought that went into this and definitely has a dev that cares and wants to improve from what I've seen. - The drill concept is very cool and I like that as a means of transportation, however can feel a little janky at times when you're wanting to look around in the drill since its controlled by where you're looking. I would like for a toggle on and off to set the direction. - There isn't much of a story, it's tough to care about what or why you're doing what you're doing in the first place without a real motive behind such. - The concept/tutorial are very concise and easy to understand. - Creatures are unique and creepy (in a good way.) - The UI could use a bit of an overhaul in terms of the crafting and menus. I would like the option of reloading a save or starting a new game. As of right now you get what you get. - There were a few bugs I ran into involving duplication of items upon reload. All and all this game is far from being "done" in my opinion. But I still think it was built on a solid and interesting foundation. As long as the dev continues to develop and improve I think this game could be solid.
I was genuinely excited to try this game, and honestly, I’m really impressed with what’s here so far. The Good: The graphics and quality settings look great. The tutorial is simple and straightforward. There’s a nice variety of items to collect. My favorite part by far is piloting the Drilling Machine to explore new areas—it’s a really unique and fun experience that gives a real sense of adventure. What Needs Improvement: Sound effects get repetitive fast. Just a few more would help the world feel more alive. Objectives aren’t very clear. You’re handed a crafting book and kind of left to figure things out. A little more guidance early on would go a long way. Story/progression isn’t obvious. If there’s a bigger goal or narrative, it’s not made clear. Animations feel stiff. Even some basic but more expressive animations would improve the overall feel. Overall Thoughts: This is a fun sandbox experience with a lot of potential. The core concept is solid and exploring caves in a drilling machine is genuinely enjoyable and makes this game stand out. If the dev keeps polishing sound design, animations, and makes objectives clearer, this could be something really special. One thing to note: At its current state, $8 feels a bit steep considering the amount of content. I’d recommend a lower price or even make the game free. Still, I’m rooting for this game’s future, there’s something cool here, and I’d love to see it reach its full potential. Great start! Unfortunately, I do not recommend this game yet. I will be waiting for the next update, and hope to see some major improvements!
