I get this is a free game. and it is not the worst out there but made it about 15 minutes before deciding this wasn't for me. Good points: The art is stylistic and beautiful. the world *seems* fleshed out in a similar vein to papers please and blue prince(you are thrown into a college admissions role at a prestigious university after a 5 year magic war. Lots of room for investigation, complications, politics, and the like. I didn't witness any of that but the idea is there). The format is in 4 manageable chunks of a shift (a briefing with the principle for the daily expectations, work time, after work stats, and finally after hour relaxing in the teachers lounge) but there ends the pros of this game. Bad points: Every application is randomly generated so it is possible to play a run and not even be close to meeting daily requirements for not getting fired that day(how is this something I can control?) *and* you have a limited stack of applicants but you can't look at all the applications for the day to make informed choices. Which doesn't make sense for a college admissions position. The dialogue and font are rough to comprehend and do not lend to world building, friendship development, or even the plot. They keep talking about "artifacts" pulled from the lake and the dangers of "lake magic" but they don't actually show you the artifacts they are discussing even though the characters act like you are looking at something. Nor do they explain what any of the dangers are. You can't really read the feedback newspaper because your decision board is unmovable and does not disappear after your work is done. And none of your choices appear to affect the outcome of the school or world at large holistically, just if you get fired that day. Like it would have been a better conveyance of the stress for being a college admissions officer if the failures carried over but you can't quit for "xyz reason". Like "yea none of the applicants met today are up to our exacting standards as we put before you an impossible metric. Tough cookies you need this job. we have put a coaching on file" and then you can have areas of lose lose scenarios. Say you have a bad write up on file well to fix it you could "bribe the principle" or "break into the office and remove the infractions(don't get caught)", or "forge an applicants documents to make them better" add a morality layer for the player. Have skills the player can develop for how they play.. give them a starting trait like the applicants that can evolve as they do their job (traits like organized, sneaky, charming, cantankerous, straight laced, laid back, hard working, or desperate) give us a personality to the individual we are playing like there is the bones and bits of a promising game but definitely not enjoyable as is.

cute, free game. i had a good time with it. the +2 interview reward never works during the day all the orange-ish rewards are required (day 9, I think), every run I did of that day only had 1 or 2 of any of the three I was looking for on a given day. Was never able to fulfill any of them. Those are my only complaints. The story was interesting, and most of the game worked solid. If the dev updated it, the couple fixes would be great. I think this was worthy of a couple of hours of my time.
I'm so addicted, the setting is just so interesting and you want to keep trying and trying to master every single level, well done! There are some bugs regarding the tags, sometimes when I already admitted a student with the tag required by the goal it did not show up on the count.
Maybe I didn't give the game enough of a chance with not even 20 minutes, but I just couldn't keep going. I like the concept and the simple gameplay, but it just doesn't feel like what you do matters. You see a student, see some stats, and then accept or reject on the spot. You don't get to see the other students in the pool before deciding, so it turns into a gambling game. Instead of looking at the applicants and making an informed decision, you just have to make an almost arbitrary choice and hope that the other applicants in the pile can compensate for whatever losses you might have caused from that decision. And if you fail, you just get fired and start again. For a supposedly "narrative-driven" game, I would expect some kind of conversation about your failure, which then, of course, drives the narrative. I was thinking and hoping this would be a game about thought-provoking choices with meaningful consequences for what you do. The trailer shows more interactions and the description talks about interviews, but from what I've played, it seems that at its core, this game is ultimately just about meeting quotas with minimal information. Again, maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance and maybe it evolves after I get through the beginning. But the lack of depth and awkward dialogue with almost no context made me lose interest too quickly.
