About
Villagers are everywhere, and they need their photos taken.
In Umpteenth Photo, you step into the worn shoes of a roaming retro photographer, snapping portraits for curious townsfolk and getting paid for every shot. Coins jingle into your pocket, and before long you’re back at the photography shop, upgrading your gear so each click is worth even more than the last.
This stylish 2D/3D hybrid job simulator tells a cozy success story across three handcrafted levels, plus a special bonus chapter. The simple act of pressing the shutter becomes delightfully addictive, turning “just one more photo” into a familiar promise you keep breaking.
Progress is saved often and automatically; whenever you earn coins, spend them, or step into a new level, so you can focus entirely on what really matters: capturing the perfect photo, for the umpteenth time.

Little explanation on the controls and no control mapping. Just wasd to move around and press tab to show your player inventory menu. You cannot move the camera around your player and i feel stuck in a certain view angle. If your sprite is 2d in a 3d world, you need to be able to move the camera around your character. The game is just roaming around take a picture when a civilian raises his hand with some greenyellow circle flashing on the ground. The music is pretty annoying. Just shake your mouse to unlock the polaroid picture. I wish i could left click on my character and look at the nice environment which is what this dev is known for in his other walking sims game. For 1$ not worth it to me, looks like it could be a free mobile game. I prefer saving my 1$ for something better,
Umpteenth Photo

Positives:
+ Ok idea + Some potential + The upgrades you can buy in the shop + Tolerable when fully upgraded + Achievements + Its short (over in 1,5-2 hours)
Negatives:
- Unnecessary slow and tedious start - Gets monotonous and boring way to fast - The whistle sound is so annoying (on pair with what the waiter must feel when being snapped at) - Music gets tiresome to listen to after a while - Depth of field effects that ruins the view (set post processing effects to low to avoid this) - The 2D sprites look like ugly wandering wine bottles (is this game sponsored by A.A.?) - No free roam mouse view (just one fixed angle) - Only 4 small areas in total (incl. the bonus level) - Without the essential upgrades you can feel gray hair growing in the back of your neck - Surprisingly taxing on the computer
Conclusion:
This is actually the worst game I have played from TB. With some much needed adjustments and changes, this game could have been okay. But as it is of now, you can easily skip it. Play TB's much better walking simulators instead. Those are quality games, unfortunately this is not.
Total Score: 3/10
Here are some tips for improving the game: - Remove the 2D sprites completely and replace them with cute looking 3d animations with more varied looks (maybe some animals?) - Fix a 360 free roam mouse view - Change the music to something more soothing and delightful - Replace the whistle sound with more pleasant sounds - You can also have a mini map with colored dots - More upgrades at the shop: a colourful lens filter, fast runner shoes, mega flash, people magnet uniform, the ultimate deluxe cam (the new last one) - Increase the start walk speed by +25% - Start coins should be 3 per shot (not 2) - Improve the photo shake function so it is on pair with the actual mouse movement speed - Remove the depth of field effects or at least turn the effects down a lot - Make the maps a bit larger and include two more areas - 10.000 in asset value achievement - Optional first person view (not necessary, but cool if included) And one last wish that has nothing to do with this game: - Please make a sequel to Lucid Cycle Thanks in advance!
Without a SAVE apparatus, this is pointless. Too much slogging to get to the end only to start at zero again.
I grew up in the generation where they taught you that if you didn't have anything nice to say, you just don't say anything. So here's the nice thing I have to say about Umpteenth Photo: you can vaguely tell where the whistling sound is coming from. -------- Just kidding! Umpteenth Photo is a game with a premise that could work, in a few different ways. You could do a "professional photography" game in the vein of Crazy Taxi, which is what this game kind of attempts to do. You could make a detective-type game where the protagonist has to carefully line up shots and the story slowly unravels through evidence caught on camera. You could even make a game where some young girls go to a haunted house and have to take pictures of ghosts, but that would just be silly. The point is, this concept can work. It needs a bit of gameplay, I think it would work best with some manner of story, and most importantly, it needs decent graphics and, you know, a way to view your photos rendered in those nice graphics. Umpteenth Photo has none of this. The gameplay is stand in one area of a tiny map, wait for the world's most annoying villagers to whistle for your services (I would even accept some world building wherein photographing medieval peasants makes sense--that could be funny!), race glacially over to them, press A, then press B a few times to shake the film, since you're using an instant camera. They give you a pittance for this, and you have to save up quite a few pittances to beat the level, but you're going to want to hurry because the music is simultaneously meandering and stressful, and it also can't decide what time period it's supposed to reflect. In the meantime, as you accumulate coins, you can spend them on upgrades to your camera, film, and etc. This is perhaps the biggest missed opportunity in this game save for the entire concept of it. To beat Level 1, you *have to* accrue enough coins to buy about half these upgrades. By the end of Level 2, you must accrue enough coins to buy all but one of them. This makes Level 3 and the bonus level extra boring. This game needs several more upgrades to even make the upgrade system make sense. But the best thing would be to make zany upgrades for the bonus level, or even better, throughout. Ideas that immediately come to mind include: an upgrade that allows you to use another button to set up disco lights in the background of a photo, one that allows you to jump and thus take your photos of these gormless plebians from above, fish-eye lens, sepia tone, lens flares, action shots. That might breathe a twinge of fun into this game. One side note: the achievements in this game don't fully work. I got over 5000 coins but the achievement never popped for me. Okay, okay, I can say one more nice thing about this game. The incongruity of going around to take pictures in an obviously ancient pastoral world gives you a moment of incredulous joy like the first time you boot up Shower With Your Dad Simulator, where it's just amusing when it hits you that someone programmed a whole game about this. Now, SWYDS is the better game. If I were you, and if I were considering buying Umpteenth Photo, I'd go buy that instead. You'll get a lot more out of it.
I like this for exactly what it is - a 'fun little something' by a dev I like to support. The pace of progression felt just right.
