edit - 2022 : The dev's closed down all game servers. They say the international response to Putins "special operation" in Ukraine has made them unable to earn western dollars. I feel bad for everyone who spent money on this. --------------------------------------- edit - june 14, 2016 : If you are going to play this game. There are now 2 guides, in english, that will help you enjoy your time learning the game. They were not available when I tried playing UFO: Online. There is a Link for one of them in the comments below from the community. --------------------------------------- it is NOT a bad game, it's free & somewhat fun. But it is very grindy & has a very slow progression curve, especially if you refuse to pay the original player base is NOT english, though many of the players who are still playing do try hard to help in english... but the lack of english information makes it very dificult to 'know' what to do when you hit a snag. If there were not newer games available to play, i may have4 played this more than 13 hours. Why i won't play more. Being forced to wait while traveling between areas (which gets longer the more your encumbered). Again, being forced to idle after a battle (quests can NOT be completed via co-op) on the world map, waiting for the passive hp regen to 'heal' me. It get's better with more cash, to buy health items. Again, if your a paying player you get stuff that makes this take less time. Ie: only paying players get the option to auto loot. etc. My last reason is the reply i recieved from the Steam Mod in regards to a fear i mentioned in regards to one of the Rules. i will let you decide for yourself if my fear is warranted , or not. --------------thread post------------------- Originally posted by Diarmuhnd: 1.7.1. It is forbidden to insult the UFO Online Administration, as well as express explicit disagreement, dissatisfaction with decisions or actions of the UFO Online Administration. Penalty: silence 1 hour + servitude of the 3rd category/14 days of forum ban The above underlined section of rule 1.7.1 gives me pause for any resolution in regards to any possible 'abuses' that may be comiited by an Online Administrator who is themselves breaking any of the aformentioned rules of the game. Moderator Reply: well, you're free to not to accept with rules. Besides you're free to not to play this game. ------------------------------------------ Post-review additional information : edit 1 : It has been brought to my attention, that ALL in-Game-Shop items, inlcuding the Premium License, can be purchased with in game currency instead of RL currency. And that there are items that reduce the Travel Time Delay. Which is a Good Shop Model for any game.

Game crashes, often. Game devs dont understand critisism can be a good thing. Game owners employ draconian rules that arent even legal in the EU let alone UK. Game is russian run and owned, while not in itself a bad thing, say anything at al they dont like and bans come into play. Game is pay to win, with a player base of dousens. New people needing help are ignored. Game admins break there own rules as they like. Just saw a moderator tell off a player for talking in help then spamming emojis with a friend. Its free to play sure, but i feel like i need a refund. Read the T&Cs and try not to wet yourself.
Decently fun, though the devs state in the official forum rules that they'll ban people that disagree with them, which raises a lot of red flags for the future of the game and the community. Cautious recommend for now.
Nope, not this game. There are too many flaws to make this game playable for me. This is a major grind fest used to leech money from players who prefer Pay To Win. This is a horrible imitation of X-Com, has time wasters, is a grind fest and is pay to win. PROS 1. Resembles X-COM That was what I thought. CONS 1. Pay To Win The cash currency is called Gold. Buy 136 Gold for 48.99 USD (Best Price). This is absolutely ridiculous. Buy a Premium Subscription for 180 days (45.99 in gold coins) - +50% Exp - Loot Autocollection - 7% discount when using when buying gold services - Allows use of neuroboosters 2. Tedious Controls Tiny buttons with lousy click zones. E.g. The Reload Button can only be clicked in the bottom right corner. 3. Simultaneous movements All actions are done simultaneously. You can actually run past an enemy with simulataneous movement. 4. Additional Redundant Actions Taking cover is an additional 2 AP, you have to press the "Sit" button. Taking rewards from a box (Loot collection) after all enemies are killed takes AP PER ITEM. 5. Healing requires Time Go to the Hospital to heal, you need 1 minute 30 seconds to heal to full at Level 2. Pay cash to heal instantly. WTF? 6. Horrendous Leveling System Prepare to kill dogs after dogs. 1st real quest in the game. Kill 10 dogs and get 10 dog heads. 7. Travel Time You can't move from 1 location to another without waiting 10 seconds in between. Forced wait.
I haven't played too long. But enough to know that the reviewers below are being a little harsh. It's not a terrible game by any means. There's no pay to win, though there is a cash shop. Progression is fairly slow, at least it seems that way so far. You'll mostly be murdering mass amounts of slavic dogs and getting better tracksuits to squat in. I have yet to see any Vodka, though(Update: Acquired Vodka). There's a lot to learn to the game, which is why progression being slow isn't too big of an issue. Lot of inventory management, but the gameplay itself when it gets down to the combat is smooth and comprehensive. The overworld map movement is kind of weird, but works given the playstyle. While I haven't participated in it yet, there seems to be some form of PvP system where you can enter someone else's PvE battle and ♥♥♥♥ them up. Though I could be wrong, and it might be PvP only. I honestly can't tell, I only know that you can jump into random's games and help them, but there is also an option to PvP however I've always been told I can't do that(Because of some mechanic that probably involves clans??) Update: So PvP works weird. There are safe areas, which are towns and buildings that you can't be attacked at perior. Then there are "Secure" areas where you can be attacked by creatures but not players. Then there are "wastelands" which are unsecure areas and you can be attacked by players in those tiles. There are also PvP arena matches in the main starting city, but those usually have level requirements to enter so that is mostly end-game stuff. I'm sure there are Clan PvP mechanics, too but as I haven't gotten there I can't comment on it. As for that one guy complaining about not being able to level up your stats: He's an impatient ♥♥♥♥ who didn't wait long enough. You buy skills from the market, or get them from quests, and use those to level up your stats directly. If he had paid attention to the tutorial he would know this. As well, at level 4-5 when you get your weapons skill up to level 4, you go into an arena and get to try out classes from the looks of it. Seems to be Machine gunner, sniper, and tank class. Though I only have Weapons at level 3 so far. So I will maybe revise my review once I get there. Update: So it turns out there aren't really 'classes' per se. There are armor types that buff specific weapons(Tank, Assault, Tactical for Tanking, LMGs and ARs, and Sniper Rifles/SMGs respectively). There is a way to reset your stats, but it only popped up once the first time and I think because I got a quest from the guy who does it, I can't talk to him again until I complete it. I only barely touched on the crafting system, but it seems fairly complex. Will also update when I get something on that end. Anyway, if you want a Multiplayer RPG with turn-based combat, this is a good game to try. tl;dr Turn-based Slav dog murder simulator 2016.
Though I love Tactical turned based games and post-apocalyptic scenarios, this one is very hard do like. First of all, don't let the name fool you. This one plays more like a survival game in isometric turnbased mode. You control one person trying to get by, not a squad of alien kickers. Pros: The first initial hour is actually fun, but thats when you start seeing the cons. Stable. Haven't seen a single bug or glitch. The world map immerses me. It looks good. Cons: Repeatative and Grindy. Biggest issue is skill learning which is need to use better gear and advance in the story. Lots of waiting as a gameplay mechanic (healing = wait, moving a square on map = wait). Same free noob gear, same mobs (dogs) for hours. Game feels unrewarding to play... and repeatative. Stupid AI, which means there's really no need for tactical choices. Stats on gear > tactics. Graphics outside the world map aren't inspiring. No character customization Gear breaks quick. Extreme prices to repair so you will have to get new stuff all the time. Pretty bad translation, sometimes so litteraly it doesn't make sense in english.
Game servers have been shut down. Game does not exist. Please remove from the steam store, this is a waste of time and hdd space currently.
Take Atlantica Online: Remove 97% of stuff and 98% of population and you have Ufo Online. Just to know what to expect. -For the record also quitted today - Only joined because i liked X-com and Fallout series and thought it might have similarities... - Instead i came to see a PVP based 6years old game, that is not free to play and simply uses the name to attract people. - Without membership its a clicker adventure, without pay you wont have enought to repair high lvl gears -Would you play a mostly pvp game where other people had 5 years headstart?Of Course NO! They could simply fix it by releashing a new server from date of steam releash... but they Didn't! -Level Protection is a BIG joke, you are going to find it out when encounter same lvl players having 50x more expensive gears than you... gears you could never had unless you are 3rd-4th account or play like 1+years. -Would you like a game when you were trying hard to get 1 million when others have 50+ millions in multiple accounts and simply trolling the games market? Of Course NO! How to fix? Steady supply of all items from npcs and not these ridiculously overpriced values now. -Would you like a game where despite the nice graphics it is considered a TEXT GAME! No skill required, and the outcome of every battle is who got more expensive guns and gears...? How to balance it? No fights allowed when one is over-geared and other isnt! - For those comparing it to X-com apocalypse... Apocalypse WINS! Here the mechanincs are bad you have to guess how many shots needed since even if an enemy is killed and you have programmed 2 more shots, the next 2 shots gonna be miss while at Apocalypse you could have picked new target ;) So generally PVP experience = Fail Game Economy = Fail Skill vs Money = Money Don't waste time or money here 99% you are going to enjoy something else :D Probably will leave a neutral/possitive review if they add new server where characters created from the date of steam releash and later can join and of course not allow anyone that brings with him alot of money or high end gears/mods only to continue trolling there. Till then... search for something else to spend your time.

Hi all, I hope you would excuse my bad English. The game suffer of serious (long-standing) problems, regarding players killers (PKers), problems that seems to be heavily underestimated by Developers: they could very easily resolve, but seems that are not particularly interested in players (customers) care. Playing the game, you will soon understand (lets say from level 8 on) that without spending real money you will not be able to significally level-up (despite hours and hours of game): this would not be a problem (would be a choice, instead) but anyway you will always be "hostage" of PKers that, killing you, they make you lose all items in your inventory (and, trust me...or check it... can be really a lot in terms of money and in terms of time). Even the resources that you have payed by money (game-money bought by trading real money), will be lost if you would be killed by a PKer: the "funny" thing is that probably the PKer that have killed you will sell to you the same things stolen by killing you. You have well read: substancially, at the state of the art, nothing protect you by PKers virtual extorsion. Someone could suggest you to enter in a clan and ask for protection by other clan members: yes... because - you know - the other players are obviously online when you are, and they are playing, spending their time, protecting you whenever is needed: good joke. Furthermore, if you hope to level-up enough to save yourself from PKers, you are really wrong: a lot of them are polyennal maximum-level players. Moreover, half of the game is in an area (called sector A) with anti-PKers rules simply ineffective, and the other half is in an area (called sector B) simply without rules (and this is clearly a choiche of developers). Many players run-away (and the concurrent online maximum number of players is low: 60/70, if I'm not wrong): there is a reason. Anyway, you should try to play... check by yourself my review! I'll try to resist a bit yet between PKers, hoping that developers show to don't want to take advantage from PKers (because they induce to spend real money to level-up quicly trying to defend yourself from PKers), but if the things will not change quickly, I'll stop to waste my time and to lose my real money with this game, that for other aspects is really a good game instead. For the chronicle, I'm a level 17 (on 25) player with 370 hours of play. Bye all
