About
This is Tyr, a tank shooter where positioning, strategic decision-making, and mastery of unique abilities win.
Tyr features a roster of specialized armored vehicles and pilots. You’ll take control of treaded and hover tanks alike as you angle & position for defense, and rumble and glide across the battlefield.
Each vehicle also offers its own tech tree and ammo & component slots, affording you the ability to upgrade and evolve your ride to suit your playstyle. You may even be able to change up your vehicle’s unique keystone tech to dynamically alter your personal meta.
Each vehicle features a unique power that impacts Tyr’s moment-to-moment play on the battlefield. A tank may have the ability to blink several vehicle lengths forward or back, send out a sonar pulse to spot enemies, or overcharge its engine to ram directly into an opponent and deal massive damage.
In Tyr, you and your opponents will only be visible when within range or while making enough noise. Deciding when to push forward and when to fire from cover could mean the difference between staying hidden and revealing your position to the entire enemy team, so play carefully.
Tyr will test your mental mettle, patience, and teamwork, as deliberate play beats whoever can fire the fastest.

This is it. This is that game. Pick it up. Get the founders pack to support the devs. It's incredibly fun, the devs are really cool, and the monetization is purely cosmetic. Unlocking the tanks isn't all that hard and there are tanks for everyone's playstyle. If you enjoy fun, give this a shot.
Generally fine game. Hope they add tanks at a steady pace (and add an additional healer of some kind). I much prefer it to traditional tank games, as having abilities is neat.

I've never played a tank game before, so it felt pretty slow at first. Took me a bit to get used to how slow the turret turns and how gun depression works, but once I got past that, I really started having fun. Even as a casual player, I can tell there's a ton of depth here, but it never feels too much. It runs surprisingly smooth and feels way more polished than most Early Access games. Definitely give it a try!

Monetization is fair/not too grindy and the gameplay is FANTASTIC! Best game I've played all year.
Clean and simple tank game.
This is a shooter game where you are not trying to hit a ♥♥♥♥♥ up squirrel. It is very fun, and the game is very chill since there is no chat function.
A well-polished idea of PvP tank game. Good balance, full of action, and a big choice of armored vehicles. No grind - just fun. I enjoy it a lot.
I have been playing this game nonstop since I was able to join the alpha, and am constantly surprised by how much fun I'm having with it. I have only ever tried World of Tanks before this and was put off by how much there was to learn. I have basically never played any tank games. But Tyr feels super accessible and easy to learn while still having a significant skill ceiling. I really have enjoyed learning how to play each tank, learning how to best utilize its ability and how to play into other tanks based on different situations. Even just going into early access this game is a ton of fun right now and I am stoked to see where the team takes it's development. It is super generous with it's monetization at the moment, and is very respectful of your time. Games are between 5-10 minutes and getting your daily scans done takes less than an hour. If you're not sure if you'd like it, give it a try. It's free. The biggest downside is the Discord chat integration for clans. Joining a clan forces you to give access to discord and join their discord server. That said, the rewards for joining a clan are just more territory scans, which are equivalent to the daily territory scans. With an active clan playing pretty much every day we ended up getting only 5 extra scans done, which is the same as finishing one set of daily scans. So if sharing your discord info is an issue for you, I would say you aren't missing out on much by just playing the game without joining a clan. While I'm not a huge fan of it, the Devs have shared their reasoning for using discord integration for this are the legal regulations for in-game chat features developing in several countries. Since they are such a small team they don't want to devote resources to a feature that may require them to verify users age directly or rework as regulations change. Maybe they'll rework this in the future, but for now I'd rather they focus on making the game better and putting out new cosmetics/maps than on reworking the clan system.
The game is great, all tanks feel very distinct in their role with some obvious overlap in functionality. They can synergize in some interesting ways like the recently added Ranger using boost ramps to assist heavier and slower tanks in advancing as well as retreating if needed. The gameplay is at lightspeed compared to historical tank games, with much more visual and audio clarity thanks to the stylized graphics and varied sound effects. You will know what is happening in general without seeing it happening if you pay attention and have object permanence. The "grind" is surprisingly fast, at least in the tank leveling aspect, it takes a bit longer to unlock them so you will have everything unlocked as you progress if you play all the tanks (which you should for unlocks and game knowledge). I'd recommend using tank exp boosts on tanks you really don't want to play but they have and unlock you want for another one. Each tank has quite a silver dump with all the perks and ammo types to unlock, but realistically you will probably find a loadout or two that you enjoy and not require to unlock the majority of remaining options. Maps are quite distinct in a few ways like the home points proximity to the center, proportion of open fields to tighter spaces, unique features that completly change up the way it is approached like the giant fissure on Scorch which prevents easy crossing and is difficult to position on for most treaded tanks but can also offer cover for agressors crossing and setting up near the enemy home point. Performance is very good. No issues here on my end, might be diffirent for others as a decent numer of matches fail to enter lobby as one or persons fails to connect. Monetization is non existent except for the founders pack as of now. It provides some premium currency which can be spent on cosmetics, which could be argued to be pay to lose as they are bright and coloful in a tank spotting game, but in this case you could pilot a transparent tank and would still be perfectly visible if spotted thanks to the outlines. The choice to require a discord server for a clan is one I don't really understand and don't care for either, as the progression bonuses a clan provides seem to be in abundance anyways (at least for silver). Overall HIGHLY recommended, so far the devs seem to be hitting all the nails right on the head, and I'm here for more.
