Great shoot'em up. Very fun and hard to master

This is an incredibly weak no recommend more based on what I like from a STG than how solid the game is itself. And I think Trouble Witches Origin - Episode 1 Daughters of Amalgam is well crafted. However, I like my shumps simple. I also of the ABS (Always Be Shooting) believe. Both things I just don't feel this game fosters. Among other issues I personally don't like. Playing this shump, I am always a bit confused on exactly how it works. I mean, there is a tutorial and everything. Part of the draw of shumps for me is the the pick-up-and-play, though. Not that I think this game is overly complicated. I just don't quite understand how it wants me to play. There is some bullet canceling magic that I still haven't quite figured out. Because sometimes it just slows the enemy projectiles and sometimes it cancels them. Unless they are blue, which the cancel magic basically has no effect. The whole system throws off part of what I enjoy about shoot 'em ups: the dodging of projectiles. The game doesn't force the player to shot shooting. But it does if you want to collect enough money to buy decent upgrades at the shop. Which really does make the game much more managable and fun. As the player can buy card that allow for card that afford temporary powerful attacks of various types. That when activated also appear to generate more money to buy more upgrades when the shop floats by. Which is not a game loop I particularly enjoy. The stages themselves seem more challenging than the sub-bosses and stage bosses. If only because it is so easy to fall behind on your routing or hold back on using your magic bullet clearing powers. And for the most part, the bosses seem to have more uncancelable projectiles making them easier for me. Giving the whole game an odd feel that I both don't really know what I am doing, and I don't really feel like my maneuvering is all that important compared to knowing when to use my bullet cancel magic or spell card attacks. Leading to the whole game feeling like a confusing and unsatisfying experience. Combine that with being a cute-em'-up, which I don't like as much as even a generic spaceship shooter, means I don't really have much fun with this game as I do a whole host of other shoot 'em ups. But again, a lot of that is my own personal preference. I think if I like something like Cotton more, I would probably like this game more. But if I am honest, I don't much like playing this game. It just does too much that is counter to what I like in shumps for me to enjoy. Even if it technically doesn't do anything wrong.
Valveが3を数えられないならこちらは2を数えられないSTG ゲーム自体は安定して面白い。同人ゲー時代から買っているが、一生Episode1のマイナーチェンジ版を出しているので、Episode2はもう現れないだろうと思っている。
I liked the universal bullet slowing mechanic and how it helps with approaching the different challenges. The inclusion of the different character with their shooting specs creates lots of replayability, which is more encouraged with the leaderboard system. I must say though that the available game modes did not really change my gameplay. The soundtrack and voice acting were memorable. Honestly worth the price if you plan to sink in hours of score attacking.
very funny shooting game, good graphics and playability - approved
Charming fun. The English translation is pretty terrible. Harassing the Pumpkin shop girl is probably the worst thing I've ever done for achievements.
Trouble Witches Origin - Episode1 Daughters of Amalgam is a vibrant side-scrolling shoot 'em up that combines traditional arcade action with an imaginative fantasy setting filled with colorful witches, magical creatures, and fast-paced bullet patterns. Developed by Studio SiestA and published by Rocket-Engine Co.,Ltd., the game serves as an enhanced version of the original Trouble Witches experience, rebuilding and refining many of its core elements while preserving the charm that helped the series gain a dedicated following among shooter enthusiasts. At first glance, the game's cheerful art style and whimsical presentation create an inviting atmosphere that contrasts with the intense gameplay hidden beneath the surface. Players take control of one of several unique witches as they journey through the magical world of Karunbunkurs, battling waves of enemies and enormous bosses across six distinct stages. Every environment is packed with bright colors, detailed backgrounds, and imaginative fantasy themes that make each level visually memorable. The upgraded visuals and higher-resolution presentation significantly improve the overall appearance, allowing character designs, magical effects, and enemy attacks to stand out more clearly than before. The gameplay follows the classic shoot 'em up formula but introduces several mechanics that give it a unique identity. The most important is the Magic Circle system, which allows players to temporarily alter enemy bullets and transform dangerous situations into opportunities for collecting resources. This mechanic adds an additional layer of strategy beyond simply avoiding attacks, encouraging players to carefully manage risk and maximize rewards. The system feels rewarding because it turns defensive play into an offensive scoring opportunity, creating a constant balance between survival and aggressive optimization. Character selection contributes greatly to replay value. Each witch possesses distinct attack patterns and abilities that affect how stages are approached. The inclusion of additional playable characters expands the variety even further, giving players multiple ways to experience the campaign. Whether someone prefers concentrated firepower, wider attack coverage, or specialized abilities, there is usually a character that matches their preferred playstyle. This diversity makes repeated playthroughs feel fresh and encourages experimentation as players search for the most effective strategies. Another notable aspect of the game is its attention to story and personality. Unlike many arcade shooters that treat narrative as an afterthought, Trouble Witches Origin includes newly written story sequences and full voice acting for its cast. The interactions between characters help bring the magical world to life and give players a stronger connection to the witches they control. While the story never overshadows the action, it adds an extra layer of charm that complements the game's lighthearted tone and distinctive fantasy setting. The difficulty curve offers something for both newcomers and veterans. Accessible gameplay adjustments make it easier for less experienced players to enjoy the adventure, while higher difficulties retain the demanding bullet patterns and precision that genre fans expect. Boss encounters are particularly impressive, often filling the screen with elaborate attack formations that require concentration, memorization, and quick reactions. Success feels genuinely rewarding, especially during the later stages where the game's challenge reaches its peak. The audio presentation further strengthens the experience. Energetic music accompanies the action throughout the campaign, helping maintain excitement during intense battles while reinforcing the magical atmosphere. Combined with expressive voice performances and polished sound effects, the soundtrack contributes significantly to the game's identity and keeps the action engaging from beginning to end. Although some players may find the story segments interrupt the arcade pacing at times, and the later challenges can become overwhelming for those unfamiliar with bullet-hell shooters, these issues do little to diminish the overall quality of the package. The game successfully balances accessibility, depth, personality, and replayability while delivering the satisfying action expected from the genre. Trouble Witches Origin - Episode1 Daughters of Amalgam stands as a polished and entertaining shooter that embraces both its arcade roots and its fantasy-themed personality. Its engaging mechanics, colorful presentation, memorable cast, and strong replay value make it an easy recommendation for fans of shoot 'em ups and bullet-hell games. Even years after its release, it remains a standout example of how classic arcade design can be refreshed for modern audiences without losing its original appeal. Rating: 9/10
