Honestly, the writing is kind of juvenile, very much for a younger audience or to be played very lightly. So much rambling, so little finesse. Also, the twins lack any charm or appeal. Lastly, not sure how much of a game this is as you select your route from the beginning after hearing the bare minimum about the Lis. There's no finding, you just pick. Very restrictive, not what I expect from an otome game. I could forgive all that but I can't get over how bland the twin's character designs are. I refuse to be an ugly mc, never would have implusively purchased this if their faces were included in the thumbnail.
Well, I was expecting an actual dual protagonist, the ability to control how the twins sabotage eachothers relationships, not two seperate playable characters with their seperate stories. It was a bit disappointing, but so far I've really enjoyed the actual romance routes (Okay, I've only done all the Stephanie routes so far, she's just too cute)
This game is super cute however playing so many otome games gives me strong opinions and comparisons. The overall game art is beautiful, but I think the CGs are not as pretty as the regular dialogue art. Often the characters don't even look like how they're supposed to, it made special moments less special (to me). I wish Hazel was prettier/had customized character PCs like other games, she's not as STUNNING as ALL the other characters, and I didn't understand why everyone liked her so much. She's also so unlikable/annoying and super immature. Love Zoe and all the boys, but it's frustrating to play as her. Still loved the game and will check out the DLC, good and pretty otome games are shockingly hard to find :)
Very good story and character development. 10/10 would recommend
This game is adorable and very charming! I love that each twin has their own personality and dynamic with their love interests, which I think makes this unique in Twin centered stories. I definitely would love to see more of these two in the future!
Cute and quirky, but lacking the more mature content for an older audience. Marketed and developed for younger teenagers, for sure.
Absolutely ADORE this vn! fell in love with Cameron slow but hard. (started with Jace & Cameron route! as i, of course, have a thing for charming faux bad-boys with soft sides. what a surpriseeeee) FIRST THINGS FIRST: I genuinely have no clue what the negative reviews about the MC's mean personalities are even talking about. I was apprehensive going into this seeing everyone say that hazel and jace are really rude, but even after playing through one route & seeing the dlc epilogues; i can say with absolute certainty that none of those people must have siblings. ...Or if they do, they're definitely not close to their siblings, because the way the MC's behave is so realistic i actually think it rivals (and is even better on some fronts!) the sibling dynamic in OL:B&A! (my personal favorite VN of all time.) The dialogue is so incredibly well written I honestly think this game should cost /more/ for it. My only true complaint is that I wish there was More time to be had with each LI; since even with the DLC add-on, average playtime rounds up to 3~4hrs max for a single route + the DLC. That's the kind of praise i'm giving TCT. I wish there was more of it!! (So naturally I'm very much looking forward to their upcoming vn; Burn the Midnight Oil)... The character writing is so refreshing, and I'm beyond excited to spend more time getting to know the other characters through their routes--and even tho i usually ignore girl mc routes I'm probably going to do hazel's as well just to see everything the game has to offer. All of this praise probably sounds kinda dramatic, and maybe it is, but I really think this is an example of mastering the craft when it comes to simplistic writing & storytelling. Not a single line overstays. All commentary feels in-character, and natural. They feel like Real People you're actually having a conversation with, real people you actually know and share growing bonds and have dynamics with.. ...Which is why the reviews saying the MC's being "mean" stump me so much. i forreal do not get it. i gueeessss in some way they're kindof right? like ?.. technically, yes, the things the MC's say are "mean" but only to people who must be very unfamiliar with the jabbing & teasing of a sibling (especially a twin!! like?? cmon.) you're very close with. Even towards other people, the teasing isn't anywhere nearly as "harsh" as it is between hazel and jace, and is quite normal for young adults of College-age. Idk maybe i'm missing something but, as far as I've seen; i think it's safe to ignore people complaining about the MC's "attitude problems". (EDIT: ACTUALLY I HAVE MORE TO SAY. You get multiple choices in routes every so often, and there's many instances where you can simply choose to say the nicer thing instead. and although it's often still teasing; you Can Actually be Nice!! and hell, even saying the more rude option still isn't anywhere close to being actually biting or insulting. it's surface-level teasing between adults who can handle it. not you as the MC actually being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to people you're supposed to love. ok now i'm done sorry, this specific critique just actually confuses me so much as someone with 2 siblings i have a good relationship with lmao) Loveable cast (strong personalities and dynamics), loveable MC's (if you can handle it? lol), incredible masterfully simplistic character writing (never once felt trope-y in a way that didn't seem completely intentioned and well handled), beautiful art, and so fun. And Funny too actually!! made me do every type of laugh in only 4 hrs (giggling, "pfft"-ing, gasping, belly laugh where u throw ur head back, and the one where it sounds like you can't breathe. all well earned.) Genuinely so glad i convinced myself to get this one on payday, over any of my other options (got TCT at full-price even when i was weighing it against an option that cost less AND was on sale. still got this one and still don't regret it!!) Anyway! Basically, TCT is 100% worth it. Begging the devs to think about coming back to it for a sequel or more DLC content pleaaase PLEEAASSEEEE 🙏🙏
I like this game. I love bratty mcs, but with the insecurities we all have. There's some angst in the routes, but I think it helps the story develop. Really enjoyed and I'm really eager to finish all routes! Definitely buying the dlc.
