Trivia Throwdown

The game has pretty good questions overall, and the surrounding scoring gimmicks are OK. I haven't played enough to comment on the number of questions in the game. Only real problem so far is that the single "fight" animation gets super old. It's bad enough that it ruins the game for me. Playing the game, 85% of your time is watching the same animation of a dude punching a ball, and then waiting through more messages/transitions before you get another question. I know it doesn't fit with the fight gimmick perfectly, but now that I've played this a bit, I'd also appreciate support for more than 2 players (actual gameplay wouldn't need to change much - just everyone who missed question would take damage if someone got it right).

Indie Trivia game with the gimmick of it being a fighting game that you have to win the battle of wits to deal physical damage to your opponents. It's an unnecessary gimmick, but mildly entertaining at the same time, especially as the characters will occasionally trash talk each other after rounds. The trivia itself is fairly impressive honestly. Lots of different categories, lots of different questions. 8.5 hours into gameplay so far and I don't recall seeing a duplicate question yet. The questions have an answer timer, and you cannot pause it while that timer is running(you can pause it at any other time however). There is another unique feature called "ante up" and this leads to the single complaint I can have about this game. Ante up is a way to enhance the damage your player does to your opponent in the event of a correct answer, only sometimes if you get the question wrong it will make the game hang until you exit to the main menu and reload it. at least it saves your progress, but still kind of annoying. The game is also playable with friends, split screen or remotely which is kinda nice. Not sure why it has the profile features limited; because that's kinda annoying as I am an achievement hunter, but I'll live, the game is still fun. Overall I'd give it a 6 out of 10.

This is one big steaming pile of AWESOME TRIVIA. Coming from Jackbox and the like, I was unsure how mush the group and I were going to like this. We like it a lot. I wish this game had fatalities, but the gameplay is great. Big daddy first and third bottom of the 8th with nobody out. This worked well as a coop game on steam; the "host" in the one to select the answer and gets the other players to give the answer they think is correct. GREAT game.

I just beat the game on Mt Everest difficulty and I really enjoyed my time, the questions are great and I love the music too.

Despite having the option to choose more international questions, there are still FAR too many America-centric questions. It's almost like the people who created them have no concept of other countries not being educated on the history of a nation that is entirely irrelevant to them individually. Maybe the option isn't there to remove ALL the American history/sport/politics questions because without them perhaps the game would have barely any of its own. While the game does also include questions from the Open Trivia Database, it's still not ideal as that DB is updated by average people, not academics. Therefore you'll often encounter questions that are misleading at best and plain wrong at worst. On top of this, the single player game structure in TT is atrocious. You play a succession of foes in a best-of-3 match. However it appears the developers don't understand how that concept works: Winning 2 games and losing 1 is NOT a draw, as they seem to think. You can only improve your rank by winning 2 in a row. In other words, the game makes you play all 3 rounds despite you knowing in advance that you can't improve your rank because you lost one of the two rounds already played. To make matters worse, your opponents concentrate exclusively on the categories you avoid picking: So if you know nothing about Hip-Hop, Basketball and how US Congress votes in new members, then you'll be made to face a barrage of questions from those categories. If you live with someone also willing to play in couch multiplayer then that's fine, you may enjoy it, but if you just want a trivia game to dip into then this is not a good one. You might be alright if you come from the country the developers are from, but if you reside in one of the 196 others that Trivia Throwdown largely ignores, then you'll constantly run into region-restricted roadblocks.

The concept of the game is unique! And believe me it's hard to do when we are talking about trivia genre. Computer bots get tougher for real with each level. The music is a little bit loud but it's okay. I am eagerly waiting for updates and possibly new categories. With love from Ukraine.

One of the better multiple choice trivia games I've ever played. Well curated and proofread questions, rare to find in a game like this.
