About
《Trigger of Silence》 is a first-person survival defense game that combines intense melee combat with gunplay. In this invaded world, you play as a super soldier who must hold your ground and fend off waves of dragon-like humanoid creatures.
The game features very unique weapons. Each weapon can use skill cartridges to unleash powerful abilities, dealing devastating damage to groups of monsters.
Some weapons can use skill cartridges to summon automated turrets, adding tower defense elements.
Large numbers of enemies will attack at set intervals, and players must eliminate hordes of monsters to survive. During the advance, certain levels require players to drive vehicles to sweep through large groups of monsters and enter monster nests to defeat the bosses.
In 2040, a laboratory secretly conducted portal experiments. After opening a portal, a humanoid glowing figure emerged, immediately taking control of the portal and bringing a large number of monsters. After the lab sent out a distress signal, you, as a super soldier, are sent by your superiors to investigate the laboratory, eliminate all monsters encountered along the way, and eventually uncover who brought the monsters and what their purpose is.

This little indie first person shooter plays well enough, but there’s not much here that will keep you engaged for more than a few minutes. The controls are as straightforward as they come. You move with the standard keyboard setup, use the mouse to aim, left click to shoot, and right click to activate skills. Beyond that, there’s really nothing else to learn. The story is equally barebones, delivered through just a few lines across the game’s four stages. In short, you’re a super soldier and humanity’s last hope against an invading alien force. The stages themselves aren’t particularly exciting since they all boil down to closed arenas where you survive wave after wave of enemies. Even though the game offers five weapons, including a katana, you’ll probably stick with the basic pistols most of the time. The pistols and machine gun have unlimited ammo, while the other weapons rely on scarce ammo pickups scattered around the arena. Health packs are limited as well, so you end up saving them for emergencies. The pistol setup also pairs best with a special ability that damages nearby enemies. It has a limited number of uses, but thankfully it recharges fairly quickly. Combat doesn’t demand much strategy because enemies simply rush toward your position no matter where you are. Most encounters turn into backing away while holding down the trigger as enemies line up in front of you. That said, the game can still overwhelm you because enemies are fast, aggressive, and appear in large numbers. It’s easy to get surrounded and taken down in seconds. There’s at least some variety in the enemy roster, with spiders, ranged attackers, and especially annoying invisible enemies, all leading up to a bullet sponge of a boss fight at the end.
Trigger of Silence is a first-person survival shooter that embraces chaos, aggression, and nonstop action with very little hesitation. Built around wave-based combat and old-school FPS sensibilities, the game throws players into a devastated future where scientific experiments have opened a catastrophic portal, unleashing monstrous humanoid creatures into the world. Rather than focusing on cinematic storytelling or realistic military simulation, the game prioritizes fast reflexes, overwhelming enemy encounters, and explosive combat scenarios that constantly pressure the player to stay mobile and fight aggressively. From the very beginning, it is clear that the game wants to recreate the intense energy of classic arcade shooters while blending in modern survival-defense mechanics. The combat system is one of the game’s strongest elements because it refuses to rely solely on standard gunplay. Players are encouraged to combine firearms, melee attacks, and special weapon abilities during battles, creating encounters that feel far more frantic than traditional cover-based shooters. Enemy hordes attack relentlessly, forcing constant movement and quick decision-making. This creates a satisfying rhythm where players are rarely given time to slow down, making every encounter feel tense and energetic. The gameplay feels heavily inspired by retro shooters that emphasized speed and aggression over tactical realism, and that design philosophy works well within the game’s chaotic science-fiction setting. One of the more creative features is the skill cartridge system attached to the weapons. Instead of simply collecting stronger guns with higher damage values, players can equip weapons with unique abilities that dramatically alter combat situations. Some attacks appear designed for crowd control, while others focus on raw destruction against tougher enemies. This system helps give the arsenal more personality because each weapon feels capable of offering something beyond ordinary shooting mechanics. It also encourages experimentation, allowing players to discover combinations that best suit their preferred playstyle. The addition of tower defense mechanics gives the game another layer of identity. Certain weapons and tools allow players to deploy automated turrets and defensive systems to help survive incoming waves. This transforms combat into more than just running through levels shooting enemies. Players must also think about positioning, defensive preparation, and managing space during intense encounters. The combination of active shooting and defensive planning creates a gameplay loop that feels more dynamic than many standard survival shooters. It adds moments of strategy without slowing down the overall pace of the action. The game’s setting contributes heavily to its atmosphere. Taking place in a near-future world devastated by a disastrous portal experiment, Trigger of Silence creates a dark science-fiction environment filled with grotesque monsters, ruined facilities, and dangerous battle zones. The idea of a mysterious glowing entity taking control of an experimental portal immediately establishes a sense of mystery and impending catastrophe. Although the narrative itself appears relatively straightforward, it effectively supports the action-focused gameplay by giving players a clear objective and a threatening enemy force to confront. Visually, the game leans into gritty science-fiction horror mixed with exaggerated arcade violence. The environments, enemy designs, and heavy use of gore create an atmosphere that feels intentionally brutal without becoming overly realistic. There is a noticeable influence from classic boomer shooters in the game’s presentation and pacing, particularly in the way enemies swarm aggressively and battles prioritize spectacle over realism. The visual style may not match the production quality of major AAA shooters, but it succeeds in establishing a strong identity built around chaos and destruction. Another interesting aspect is the inclusion of vehicle sequences and boss encounters. These moments help break up the constant wave survival gameplay and provide larger set-piece moments that make the campaign feel more varied. Driving through swarms of enemies or entering dangerous nests to fight massive creatures adds scale to the experience and prevents the action from becoming too repetitive too quickly. These segments suggest the developers wanted the game to feel cinematic in its own arcade-inspired way, even if the overall structure remains heavily focused on combat. Despite its strengths, Trigger of Silence does show signs of being an ambitious indie project still trying to balance multiple gameplay systems. Combining melee combat, tower defense mechanics, wave survival, boss fights, and vehicle gameplay is a large undertaking, and there is a risk that some mechanics may not feel fully refined. The game also appears heavily dependent on nonstop combat, which could eventually lead to repetition if enemy variety and mission design are not expanded enough over time. Players seeking deep exploration, complex RPG systems, or emotionally driven storytelling may find the experience too focused on pure action. The limited language support may also reduce its accessibility for international audiences. Since the game currently supports only a small number of languages, some players may struggle to fully appreciate its lore and mission context. However, because the gameplay relies more on action than dialogue, the core experience remains relatively approachable even for players mainly interested in combat. Ultimately, Trigger of Silence succeeds most in delivering raw intensity. It captures the spirit of older action shooters where survival depended on movement, reflexes, and overwhelming firepower rather than careful realism or slow tactical planning. The game combines futuristic horror themes, relentless enemy waves, and customizable weapon systems into an experience that feels energetic and unapologetically chaotic. While it may not yet reach the polish or depth of larger shooters in the genre, it demonstrates enough creativity and ambition to stand out among smaller indie FPS projects. For players who enjoy fast-paced survival shooters inspired by retro FPS design, Trigger of Silence offers a promising mix of brutal combat, defensive strategy, and science-fiction horror. Its combination of arcade action, customizable weapons, and wave-based survival creates a gameplay loop that feels satisfying and intense, especially for fans of aggressive old-school shooters. Even with some rough edges and potential repetition, the game shows clear passion behind its design and delivers a solid experience built around nonstop action. Rating: 7/10
