TrainFormation is a simple, fast-paced puzzle game created by one student as a university project. Place rails in front of an ever-accelerating train to cross procedurally generated levels, reach stations, collect power ups and make it as far as you can!

A challenging little puzzle game with great music.
There's no stoppin' this train!...no, I mean it! You better get them dang tracks set up! Build a clear track by picking up the terrain and moving it. The game seems endless, so last as long as you can! There are 4 terrain types, each with an escalating altitude. 1:Green. 2:Yellow. 3:Grey. 4:White. To connect a track, you not only line up the rails, but the pieces have to be either the same altitude, or 1 higher/lower...So for example, yellow can connect to other yellows, as well as green and grey, but it cannot connect to white. I should mention, you can't move terrain that the train has already crossed. There's also water terrain, that can't be moved or crossed, you have to go around. As the train goes on, it gradually increases speed, but there are stations that you can go thru to get a short pause. You can't move the stations without a powerup. There are certain track pieces that give powerups when the train crosses them. There are 3 types: Snail:Slows train briefly. Track: adds/changes available track pieces. Station:Allows you to pick up and move a station. The graphics are really nice, and the soundtrack is a vibe, even if it's just one song on loop. The only downside is, due to the randomization, you can't always find the pieces you need in time. I've had a couple of small glitches, but they haven't been game-ruining. TBH, I absolutely LOVE this! It so simple, but so fun! A great mix of relaxing and "OH GOD I NEED A CURVED PIECE, NOW!!" I definitely see myself sinking a LOT of time into ridin' these rails. Well worth the price of the ticket!

"TrainFormation" is a simple, genuinely made action puzzle game where you drag and drop hex tiles to ensure the train has a safe path to follow.. as quick as you can. Well, it works, it's not an asset flip, it's just not all that amazing in the big scheme of PC games. I feel like this is one of those games that would have done well on the mobile app stores. The graphics aren't great. That's understandably be turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
I'm really bad at it. But it's definitely fully functional and has actual challenge. 10/10
Welll... That deserved more than a passing grade for a free game. Better than train island too! That costed money! I suggest adding more stuff in a DLC New power ups, terrain, weather, tunnels, docks and boats ETC. maybe quests to deliever cargo and passengers/VIPS
Simple, pero muy entretenido.
Nice little game. Enough mechanics to keep it engaging but simple enough to pick straight up.
Thought the game was a bit too slow and at the same time I was helpless to stay on track without powerups.
Was fun. Felt like Snake & Tetris with the random blocks. A good trategy is to collect tiles by replacing ones you didn't use as the screen scrolls. Train finally detrailed when it tried entering a tile that hadn't been palced yet, and maintained that "tile not there" even though I placed one before it visually entered it. Really good music that loops nicely.
