About
Discover different freight traffic with Skyhook Games’ Cargo Line for Train Sim World. In Volume 6, hop to the mainland-side of the channel for the first ever German Cargo Line! Don’t let the pressure get to you as you turn up the heat and fuel flowing industry with Zags Gas Tankers in-tow. Get kinetic across the rails of the Ludswigbahn, from Mannheim movements to Kaiserslautern chaos!
Fuelling the cogs of the modern world, the transportation of liquefied, gas products is a common sight in many countries. With hazardous and flammable goods in-tow, it takes a robust fleet of equipment to ensure the contents are protected no matter the conditions. In 2023, Skyhook Games’ Cargo Line series debuted with the UK-based TEA tanker wagon, and now, volumes later, Cargo Line arrives on German tracks for the first time, once again, with the role of hauling heavy gaseous goods.

The Zags Gas Tanker wagon featured in Cargo Line Vol. 6 is the 110m³ variety in plain white and orange stripe livery, adorning the logo of VTG, widespread wagon owner and leaser throughout Europe. The wagon consists of a main barrel supported by a longitudinal frame mounted on two wheeled bogies and features an access walkway at one end with conventional draw gear and buffers located at both ends.

Through a new selection of scenarios and timetable services, take on the task of hauling gas-laden tankers, and returning empty ones too, across the varied and rustic rails of Rhineland-Palatinate.
With Free Roam and Formation Designer, pick your poison of any locomotive in your collection, and challenge yourself by hauling heavy trains across European rails.
Please Note: For the full experience, we recommend you own Train Sim World: Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn: Mannheim - Kaiserslautern which is available as a separate purchase.

I was excited for this DLC ever since it got announced because some variation in freight wagons is very welcome after all these years of having the same wagons over and over. But after getting it, my worries from reading the articles were unfortunately confirmed, and these wagons do not seem to naturally spawn on any route other than (the imo already mediocre) Ludwigsbahn. Making it worse is the fact that despite the article advertising this as coming with 18 new timetable services, none of them have any kind of differentiation from all the other timetable services in the menu, and thus I have not been able to find any of these services. The 6 "brand-new scenarios" are also literally just timetable services that are listed as scenarios for some reason, they don't even have unique names like every other scenario in this game, and rather just have the service name that you would see in timetable mode. There is also no special "quirk" or activity like most other actual scenarios have, just straight up A to B driving. The wagons themselves also aren't the greatest: the shading is set up in a way where the polygon edges on the cylinder are actually visible when looking up close, and the relatively shiny texture combined with the rough-looking material they used just looks off. Audio isn't anything special either because the same generic freight wagon sounds were used. I really wished that I could have recommended this because of how much I was looking forward to it, but with this DLC you're just getting wagons with *acceptable* modelling exclusively for one singular route of questionable quality with an overpromised amount of use.
The tanker model is visually excellent. There's a couple of mistakes on the controls that Skyhook will fix in a future release. The services on Manheim Kaiserslautern are ok but really I would like to see it running on more routes. The scenarios just come across as services with no story. I think on this one wait for a sale unless you really need the white tankers in your life.
I think Skyhook did a nice job on this pack. The tankers look realistic and have good texture quality, and there's a really nice amount of route traffic on the timetable runs I've done so far.
Cargo Line is the DLC that just keeps giving. I have enjoyed these packs from Skyhook games regardless of whether I get early access or not. These packs add extra playability to Train Sim World. They are cheaper than a night out. Cargo Line Vol 6 Gas is no different.
The usual high standard we come to know from Skyhook. Its a lovely piece of stock, plenty of services and scenarios and Moreso its great to see it comes for the base route timetable! Look forward to what Cargo Line DLCs are to come!
