I like the game, but it requires signing up for their newsletter to get full access to the game. That's fine for a free-to-play, but I don't want to see this catching on in purchased titles.
Towers Deck is a roguelike tower defense, craft towers and cast spells using you’re deck for surviving again the enemy the longer possible. Graphics (6 / 10) : The graphics are ok, correct design but nothing incredible. Gameplay (7 / 10) : Base gameplay is near to a classic tower defense, place towers for defeating enemy, each towers deal differents types of damages (damage to shield / armor and base health). You create towers and use offensive power with 5+ random cards you get with each new wave. Each new wave expand the map. Between each map, you can upgrade you’re cards, buy new cards or remove some of them. (one random event betwwen each wave), and also some research for some in-game bonus (more hp / free new cards in you’re deck ...) Each towers and spells use gold and mana, gold are win with killing foes (or with some cards), and mana regerate over time. After a game, you win experience that unlock new cards, permanent upgrade for you’re previous cards, higher number of waves, higher difficulty (more path to the castle). Unfortunately, once the difficulty increases with experience, it cannot be decreased again … The game is really repetitive, bonus after finishing a game are long to get and there often give minor bonus / change. Price (4 / 10) : The game cost 12 euros, and the game is really too much repetitive, you will see all base game in around 1 hour, only new unlockable can make you play again but there are too long to get for the bonus given ... Story/Music/Optimization (5 / 10) : No story, and a halt tutorial (tutorial about the card system), but no tutorial about the general gameplay The music is ok, but sound are mediocre, the worst are sound done by some monsters (sort of cry). Don’t have any freeze or fps drop (played on a i5, 2Go VRAM and 8Go RAM) Final Note (5.5 / 10) : Towers Deck is a original tower defense with good roguelike system, but really too repetitive and the price asked for the current content is too high. + : - Good base gameplay with differents towers / spells - Roguelike system (random event for upgrade you’re deck) - Some upgrade to get between game ... - : - but upgrade only give minor bonus and are to long to get. - Price too high for the current content. - Only 1 endless level, no mission, no achivement and no way to change difficulty after level (number of path to you’re castle)
Nice concept of the game. Somewhat addictive. Needs more intuitive user interface/ explanations
AI "art" assets. If I knew this I wouldn't buy the game in the first place. Decent game in its mechanics, but this is unethical as hell. Requested a refund.
Great game with cool mechanics. I really enjoyed roguelike elements combined with tower defense and deck building. Gets me in the zone and I only get out of it only when I get ending screen. Seems a bit difficult in the beginning, but once you get a grasp what is going on everything goes smoothly and easily. Cannot wait for more content!
It's a great concept. But it's short. Sadly. Barely 2 hours if you get the hang of it quick and you'll have maxed the unlocks, then it's just difficulty grind for no benefit.
Extremely nice game loop. It got even more enjoyable after a few replays when I understood all the systems. 3D model visuals could definitely have some improvements. Nice concept though
Strangely tower defense and deck building mechanics works fantastically well together. Game play is smooth, everything is well explained and easy to follow. Visuals is ok, but a bit lacking. I would like to see more interesting enemies and more polished UI. Overall the game is a good time killer.
Solid game concept, idea. I do have fun playing this game, but still there are many things that needs to be improved. For example, when you build tower and you click on it, no longer shows the title, there are also numbers miscalculations that doesn't add up to correct bonus number, and also when you finish research tech tree you can't go back to game at least i did not find a button to return. Since this is a small game from indie company and i do understand it but there is not much game content. So yea if this game is further improved then it can be played more often.
Satisfying gameplay loop, fun way to kill time. Slightly lacks polish but without impacting enjoyment.
