Touhou Kinjoukyou ～ Fossilized Wonders.

It's touhou. Buy it so ZUN can have his beer and provide us with next game. But probably find the english translations somehow. Touhou is amazing, the game is torture.

Easily one of the most enjoyable and replayable 2hus! Endless gem combinations. The music is spectacular as always with a different, more eerie vibe than the other soundtracks. LOVE Ariya's theme!

This game is like Yukari creating the border between peak fiction and abysmal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

i've gotten up to stage 4 on normal and this is honestly a pretty good game, characters are fairly memorable, some songs vary from pretty good to a f*cking banger (nareko's theme), and i don't really see what the fuss is all about with the ai backgrounds, if i went in the game blind and nobody told me they were ai, i probably wouldn't even bat an eye as for difficulty, definitely not the easiest game, i had to use like 4 continues just to get past the stage 2 and 3 fight, when i usually get out with 1 or 2/3 lives in older games, but i knew what i was getting into, so i wasn't surprised when that was the case overall, you should buy the game only if you're fairly experienced with touhou or bullet hells, not beginner friendly

Out of all the touhou games, I think this one offers generally more replayability and enjoyment long after you first play it. I'll come back to this game time to time to test out new loadouts, and get all the endings (which, for veteran players or people who've played the older games, feature some familiar faces). This was the first touhou game I've ever played, and I was very impressed!

Touhou 20 ~ Fossilized Wonders is the latest main series Touhou game, allowing players to mix and match various shot types together to create something unique (after they unlock them first.) The story is that Gensokyo has been stopped, and Reimu and Marisa set off to discover why and end up encountering a mysterious sanctuary. Now, the elephant in the room is that AI generated "artwork" was used in this game, specifically the background of stage 4. Honestly as someone who dislikes generative AI quite a bit it made me hesitant to try the game at first, but upon playing it I learned the context and became more tolerant about it. [spoiler]Basically the pyramid in that sanctuary is a purification facility for impurity, and its boss is an artificial intelligence created by the lunar capital which is why her speech is weird and distorted which unnerves Reimu/Marisa. The facility was overloaded with impurity which caused said boss to malfunction, said impurity coming from the outside world and in one of the endings it is regarded as an attack from the outside world (though not a deliberate one). Effectively it's a commentary about the damaging effects of generative AI on fiction. Whether you believe that justifies ZUN putting something AI generated into the background of a stage to sell it or not is entirely up to you.[/spoiler] The game itself is fairly simple, giving a remarkable amount of shot types to play around with for each character and unlocking them to mix and match your own after beating the game with them to give lots of replayability. Also these give special abilities alongside shots, so there's a lot of value in them. The ending changes too depending on your main shot type. I recommend this game personally. I can understand how the use of generative AI can turn people off, but I feel like the use here isn't really harmful. That said, I would prefer it if the next game had none of it whatsoever but that's up to ZUN not me. Overall, I think that controversy aside the game is fun and challenging and has a great cast with good music. So a solid Touhou game overall.
