Season 13 totally destroyed loot, as someone who has played the last few seasons and loved the game, it is honestly a massive shame. The fast gameplay and building has been turned null and void with the tiny amount of currency the game is giving you. Moving all the high end items up profound is highly sad, especially since profound is where you usually fine tune your build before trying to get into deep space. Instead the normal players and smaller fish have to wait for the whales this season to get the profound drops and then the normal players have to farm for hours to get a tiny amount of fe in hopes they might somehow earn enough to get their build on board since half their items are now in profound.

I played a little... You people turned this game from the escape from any major ARPG into the worst monetized game I've ever seen. You can easily spend hundreds of dollars and not get a single pet. No pet = no loot. Even Diablo Immortal could write an essay about the predatory monetization in this game. DO NOT START IN 2026.
[strike] p2w garbage [/strike] still p2w garbage but now with league mechanics that drop literally nothing
Super generic, weapons don't seem to do much and your skills seem incredibly generic. I have no idea what is going on with the story. There is so much random effects going on in combat and areas are walled off by weird grey spines. This isn't the torchlight I remember, wish it was more like Torchlight 1.
This genuinely used to be my favorite ARPG, and I've played the works (POE 1/2, Last Epoch, Hero Siege, Slormancer, Diablo 2/3/4, etc.). This game is NOT pay-to-win, it's pay to LOSE. I loved this game enough to spend money on multiple c6 pets and c4/5 of some others. Even with high level pets, breaking through T8 to Profound difficulty has become much more of a slog this season. They have, for the last four seasons, nerfed early power over and over, of both league mechanics and builds. A lot of free-to-play folks have lamented the fact that their strategies have gotten nerfed, and they definitely have. However, funnily enough, those mechanics are more profitable than doing past/present league mechanics with c6 pets in T8. All to funnel you into either buying in-game currency with real money and rolling for copies of the new league mechanic pet. Joke's on you if you do, though, because the current league mechanic drops...drum roll please...no loot. Absolutely NOTHING drops this league, and it's not an exaggeration. In fact, if you put the tiniest bit of juice into T8 league mechanics, you LOSE currency. I've tested every mechanic I have multiple copies of: Afterlight, Lunaria, Vorax, Overrealm, Outlaw, Arcana, and Cube. When you hit the "jackpot" of these mechanics, which is a "rainbow" loot proc/chest of some kind in T8, there are actually times when the loot that drops on the ground does not pass your filter. It is abysmal how awful loot is right now, and even after compensation "buffs" in post-launch patches, it is STILL absolutely terrible. An ARPG without loot...it genuinely cannot get more comical than that. It wasn't always like this. The developers used to put fun first, but in their greed, they have ruined the game. The community is pretty sure they are running the RMT (real money trading) market, and that's why they've been nerfing early loot so much--so that you pay to progress to Profound/Deep Space, where the real loot is...supposedly, anyway. I won't be playing any more of this season to find out whether Profound/Deep Space difficulties are intact, and I will not be playing this game again until loot is SIGNIFICANTLY buffed such that both paying and non-paying players can progress and have fun. So sad how they massacred my boy...

used to be fun and fast game, now its way too slow with barely any dopamine. been playing since beta and this is the worst its ever been, taking the worst out of every other game instead of keeping the identity of TLI which was a very fast, loot heavy game with slight p2w. the gap between p2w and f2p is VERY high right now, you either get barely anything or spend 600 bucks to actually get loot (just for the current seasonal mechanic, even if you get a max lvl drop pet right now.. it will be worthless most likely the next season) used to be one of my favorite games of all time, i played PoE for over 8 years and there has been times where i even loved TLI much more than PoE but both games are just cooked now, just took the path of trying to milk you to "play longer" by making loot way more scarce instead of actually focusing on the fun side. o7
Everything wrong with gaming that is designed to milk the player base through FOMO. Taking a look at the pacts was one of the most disgusting monetization efforts I have seen in game that wants to be taken serious. I am lucky I don't have the sunk cost fallacy of the few hanging on or selling my soul for a few bucks like many of these content creators. It will be a great day when I open up the news and see that support stopped for this game. It will be a great lesson for future developers that try to desecrate the best genre in gaming.
