To Have and to Hold is a story about two cousins whose personalities are opposite yet only bring them closer together. For a free game, it has a lot of content to read especially if you are a slow reader like myself and can take at least a few hours to complete it. However, you should be aware about incest since there are NSFW scenes between them and if you can't handle it then this game ain't for you. The game does balance it out with a lot of angst and self-deprecation with one of the cousins. It does a great job at developing the characters and takes its time well to flesh them out. I recommend this game to be played first before Unluckily in Love and the 1,001 arabian nights story because it gives you a taste of the dynamic between Yuel and Tavi that will be prevalent in the other games. Simply put, if you don't like the pacing and character stuff in this game then you won't last long in the other games.

Another great novel in the Yuel+Tavi-verse. I really liked this take on their relationship and how it differs specifically to the one in UIL. The artstyle was amazing too. 10/10

As I continue to work my way through ebi-hime's free VNs, I was especially looking forward [i]To Have and To Hold[/i] because ebi-hime is so effusive with her love of Tavi and Yuel. [i]To Have and To Hold[/i] blew me away. It combines the gut punch of [i]Emmeline Burns[/i] and the New Adult angsty schmoop of [i]Night Before[/i] into something truly special. Yuel and Tavi sparkle on a visual and narrative level. I stopped play to stare at Cherry's sprites and CGs. Resu and RialynKV's backgrounds captured perfectly the wedding's opulence (even more impressive because Yuel inhabited the sidelines exclusively), the hotel's aggressive bare-minimum, and the beach's wide open freshness. Depressed, gloomy characters like Yuel are tricky to craft in an authentic, compelling way, but ebi-hime makes it look easy. Tavi is the familiar charming party king, but the gleaming waters run deep: Yuel may be desperate, but Tavi's yearning to care was a visceral, physical thing. After playing the game, I couldn't stop thinking about these two. To say I'm excited to dive into the other Yuel/Tavi games is an understatement. I wish them happiness after a long journey!
