XUnity.

Just about as fun of an arcade shooter as you could hope for. Good graphics, fun atmospheres. Lots of fun perks.
Time Carnage is a fast-paced arcade-style wave shooter developed and published by Wales Interactive that revolves around relentless combat across multiple time periods. Rather than focusing on deep narrative storytelling or expansive exploration, the game prioritizes immediate action, throwing players into arenas filled with hordes of enemies ranging from zombies and robotic soldiers to prehistoric dinosaurs. The time-travel premise serves as a thematic framework, allowing the game to shift between dramatically different environments while maintaining a consistent core loop of survival and firepower. The central gameplay mechanic revolves around constant movement and aggressive weapon management. Instead of traditional reload systems slowing down combat, Time Carnage encourages players to drop depleted weapons and switch to fresh ones in rapid succession. This creates a unique rhythm where staying mobile and cycling through an arsenal becomes as important as aiming accurately. The result is a combat style that feels chaotic but deliberate, rewarding players who adapt quickly and maintain situational awareness as waves intensify. The arsenal is diverse, featuring over two dozen weapons that can be dual-wielded in various combinations. Shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, pistols, flamethrowers, and heavier firearms each offer distinct advantages depending on the enemy type and encounter layout. As players progress through campaign tiers, additional weapons unlock, expanding tactical options. The ability to mix and match loadouts provides flexibility, though combat largely remains rooted in straightforward shooting rather than complex strategic planning. Campaign progression is structured around tiers that gradually increase in difficulty. Each stage introduces denser enemy swarms and more varied combinations of threats. Environments shift between icy landscapes, jungle ruins, dystopian cityscapes, and apocalyptic settings, offering visual variety even as the core objective remains survival. Enemy diversity helps maintain engagement, as different foes require different engagement distances or weapon choices. Dinosaurs rush aggressively, robots fire from range, and undead creatures overwhelm through sheer numbers. Beyond the main campaign, additional modes such as custom arcade and challenge variants extend replay value. These modes often introduce modifiers, specific weapon restrictions, or perk systems that alter how each run unfolds. While these additions add variety, they do not fundamentally transform the gameplay structure. The experience remains heavily centered on wave-based endurance and shooting efficiency. Visually, Time Carnage focuses on clarity and readability during intense firefights. Environments are stylized but functional, ensuring that enemies remain distinguishable amid chaotic action. Effects such as explosions and muzzle flashes are impactful without obscuring visibility. While graphical fidelity does not compete with large-scale modern shooters, the design choices effectively support the arcade pacing. Sound design complements the action with punchy weapon effects and energetic background music that heightens tension during escalating encounters. One area where Time Carnage shows its limitations is in narrative depth. The time-travel concept offers creative potential, but story elements are minimal and primarily serve as context for the combat arenas. Character development and plot progression take a backseat to gameplay. For players seeking a story-driven shooter, the experience may feel shallow. However, for those drawn to immediate action without lengthy exposition, the streamlined approach keeps focus firmly on combat. The game’s intensity can be both its greatest strength and its potential drawback. Short sessions feel exhilarating, as the constant pressure and weapon swapping maintain adrenaline. Over longer play periods, repetition can become noticeable, as the core loop does not significantly evolve. The absence of deeper progression systems or cooperative online features may limit long-term engagement for some players. Ultimately, Time Carnage delivers a concentrated burst of arcade shooter action built around mobility, weapon variety, and relentless enemy waves. Its time-travel premise allows for environmental diversity, while the rapid weapon-switch mechanic sets it apart from more conventional shooters. Though it may lack narrative complexity and extensive systems, it succeeds as a straightforward, high-energy survival experience. For players who enjoy intense, reflex-driven gunplay without distractions, Time Carnage offers a focused and chaotic ride through multiple eras of destruction. Rating: 6/10
Pros: -sale price was $1.29 Cons: -Zombies are your first enemy. You can't shoot dinosaurs, monsters, or robots until you shoot all of the zombies.
