Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/_bYtao3i4g8 I really enjoyed playing this game. It was short & sweet. Honestly, my biggest complaint is that it ended too soon. There's only 15 levels and it took me about 15 minutes to get to the end but it can definitely be done quicker with better throwing skills. The visuals are basic & bland. The sounds are just passable. However, it's really the throwing mechanics that make this game as enjoyable as it is. The physics puzzles are just difficult enough to give you a challenge, but not so difficult that you'll get frustrated. It even keeps tracks of how many throws you did for the whole game so there's reason to play again if you're the type who strives for perfection (I myself am okay with just doing reasonably bad). I do have to say that this game is not original. There's a better (but paid) version of this game called Hurl VR. If you like this game, you may want to check that one out too. Here's a link to my review of that game: https://steamcommunity.com/id/FastLawyer/recommended/680350?snr=1_5_9__402 Rate 6.5/10. Here is a list of my top 100 FREE Steam VR games on my Curated group Oculus Rift Reviews (please join!): https://steamcommunity.com/groups/Oculus_WMR p.s. You may be asking yourself why is Hurl VR rated the same as Throw The Ball In The Hole if I said it was the better game. Well, one is paid and one is free. That's why. I grade on a curve depending on price.

Fun game, wish it were longer. But for the price of free it was perfect. Overall, I really enjoyed it.

Throw The Ball In the Hole is a free VR game. It worked on my system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. This can be a hard game. Has 3 open steam achievements, that will be hard to get. Has music in the background but no controls or mute. They get progressively harder. Try it, if you want to throw balls.
Throw The Ball In the Hole is a VR exclusive first person physics puzzle game where you must throw a ball into a cup (not a hole). This comes across as more of a tech demo than a complete game. It's very bare bones and is only functional in a very rudimentary way. The graphics are reasonably poor, being just low poly, low effort, mostly untextured assets. I can't think of anyone this would appeal to... I mean, who spends all the money on a VR headset and decides the best thing to do with it is throw balls at holes? Just buy Half-Life Alyx or something. If you can afford a VR headset, you can afford real games. It's noble that the developer has made this free, but I can't see any compelling reason to recommend this to anyone.
At first blush, it's a kind of tech demo. A super simple simulator for throwing balls into holes. This part of it is completely accurate. You get exactly what you're expecting. However... The game runs in the Unity engine with zero frills. so by default you have finger interactivity (for the balls), but otherwise you only have a button (the thumb pad) for teleporting. You can't use a stick to turn you around, can't teleport to anywhere that isn't designated by a green circle, etc. You can only adjust where you are in the space by moving, but the platforms you're on can't be moved in any manner relative to you. Why does this warrant a bad review? Because the lack of ability to control the play space led to floor creep. One throwing game after another led me a few feet closer to a wall, until I full-out punched a wall with an Index controller while trying to throw a ball upward. Basically, I uppercut the wall. That hurt quite a lot and left me worried I had just killed my controller. After doing so, I realized there really wasn't -any- way to adjust the space. No options menus that I could find, either. It has no settings on-load, and it clearly didn't detect SteamVR's basic facing settings. Only the SteamVR border mesh is any indicator and if you are already moving your arm fast enough, it doesn't give a lot of time to pull back. There are other problems too but they're less serious. You can't move from where you teleport and there's a table next to you, which means you can't actually drop your hand to your physical body and throw up, or forward, because the ball will hook on 'you' or the table in the VR space. Ergonomically, it feels weirdly cramped. I won't say not to download it. But I will say to be -incredibly- mindful when using it, unless you have a 3m x 3m space at least. Even then, mind the teleport creeping you around.
