"The Wire" is a casual puzzle game with plenty of levels, which is designed to suit the needs and abilities of players of all ages. Play with the electronic background music, you just need to move the controller to go forward. The most import thing is making sure it is going on the track.

To bad the steam system does not have a scale system for rating, only a yes or no. I would give it a 3/10. The most important thing is that you need alot of roomspace, at least 3 metres of length. My 2,5m wasnt good enough for some levels because they start in the middle and reach out of the area, just some luck i finished them before hitting the wall. Furthermore the controller does not make sense, I get some "Collision" Errors but i dont know why. The Color at the tip of your wand changes blue and red without any known consequences. And the Points too, sometimes it increases , sometimes not no matter what state the wand color is. Both indicators are distracting from the game itself. The levels are hard but fun, better designed than the other "Wire Loop" Game. All in all it has nice potential, but would not recommend the game as of now.

Played On: HTC Vive
In August 2016, two similar "don't touch the edge" games became available for virtual reality; The Wire, and Power Link VR. The Wire came first, and for all intents and purposes it serves what it promises, but it has a few too many negative drawbacks that must be considered before attempting to play it. Over the course of three main levels, with multiple stages inside each one, players must take the wand and get it from one end of the maze to the other without touching any of the blue lines. While some of the stages are somewhat easy, later ones ramp up their difficulty by adding rotating and moving obstacles. It's kind of humorous that the developers call this game "casual" on the store page, when it's anything but that. Did I mention that each level is timed as well? There are two big problems with The Wire, which will make it unplayable for a lot of people. The first one is height. Although the height can be adjusted in game, the mazes do not scale to your height. This means that short people will be stuck either standing on their tiptoes to reach up, or tall people will have to bend down really low. Both are problematic in a game that requires extreme precision. The biggest concern is the length of the mazes. My 2.5x2.5m play space was simply not large enough to bypass even the third level of this game, and I didn't want to risk slamming into a wall or bumping my desk to move around to try and reach the finish. This could easily be solved by being able to pause maze progression and move it around to a suitable distance. From my experience, most VR users have a play space roughly 2-2.5m. Although the developers apparently scaled the stages down shortly after release, it was still not enough to make it comfortably playable for the majority of users. The Wire has a great concept, nice music, and a hefty challenge, and for those with an area beyond 3m of room it's a definite recommendation. However, since it's lacking user-friendliness and it's inaccessible to the majority of VR users, I'm unable to recommend it. Game shows as a BLACK SCREEN when trying to play on the Index. Game shows in the monitor and it tracks fine, but there is no video feed to the headset, So its not working. Seems like the issue has been there for a while, so the game is broken. Cant recommend a broken game.
I could not get this game to start. Start screen appears but nothing I do has any affect.
Black screen in headset after the title screen, music/sound Ok Game menu can be seen on standard monitor but cannot be played....
Played this on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers without any issues
You can probably get by several levels with standing room only. But in some levels, you will need a roomscale setup to get past the puzzle. I bought Hoope Route VR and this game is almost as good and it's free. You use your right hand controller to move without touching the edges or obstacles from start to finish of the maze. I think if you finish this game you should automatically get accepted into medical school. If you're strung out, don't even try this game. Rating 6/10 hey it's free and it's challenging fun for those with steady hands, add beer to make it more challenging
