About
The Victor Initiative is a first-person survival horror game in which you explore the halls of a government facility that was abandoned in the 60s in order to discover its secrets while evading the strange entities lurking within.
You've been tasked by a shady government agency to close a 'rift' hidden deep within an abandoned research facility located in North Wales. You get the feeling that you're not being told the whole truth. What horrors will you discover within?
In The Victor Initiative, you have no health bar, nobody to help you, and little information on what you'll encounter. All you know is that you must complete the mission. From a first person perspective, you'll make your way through the winding halls of The Initiative in a bid to survive to the next room. Each room will present a new threat, or a new puzzle that you need to solve in order to keep pushing through. You'll also find new tools as you delve deeper into the facility, which will be essential in dealing with new threats that get thrown at you. Will you be able to survive?
The Initiative was a mysterious government outpost that rarely communicated with the outside world, but 60 years ago, communication stopped completely. Now, you've been tasked to dive back into the nightmare. Inside The Initiative is a spiralling maze of horrors. Deranged ramblings adorn the walls, loose papers are strewn across the floor, and the terrifying threats that caused this ruin are still in there with you. This place has a story to tell. Will you listen?
The Victor Initiative also features live action cutscenes and collectables, fleshing out the world and immersing you further into the story. The game will also feature audio logs and documents which tie everything together, with some audio logs featuring special cameo appearances from people who you might know including Sam Lake, Inel Tomlinson, Samantha Béart & Dave Jones.

This game is absolutely astounding! I've been playing Spacepiano's games for quite a few years now, and I got to say, he really went to the moon with the quality of this one! Not only is the story-line just a work of art, but so is the game itself! Each chapter is a whole other world of strange anomalies, crazy killer creatures, and a bunch more! If you want a good scare, and to be genuinely impressed with a game that doesn't nuke your computer, this is ABSOLUTELY the game I recommend! I've played a lot of horror games over the last 5 years or so, and I got to say that this one is at the tippy-top of my list of recommendations! Please try it for yourself, you won't be disappointed!
Most scary and thrilling horror game I've played in a while 10/10
Let me tell you how much I have come to appreciate [REDACTED]. 97 minutes in total and all it took for me to love him was four tapes. I'll be discussing spoilers so if you don't want spoilers, don't look! Chapter 1: The Horse
Nothing too notable here since I've played this chapter like eight times, But the horse is an awesome first enemy being really simple to understand and deal with! While I have the usual issue of "look at me" enemies forcing you to look away from the environment, The rooms are pretty open sometimes so this issue isn't too much. Has a basic puzzle at the start which was pretty nice and sets the tone quite nicely. The ending is awesome as always, I love very much. Now onto my true love.
Chapter 2: The Second Chapter
I really like Richmond. New character introduced through various tapes, Richmond is basically big scientist who created a buncha artificial entities and overall the new enemy in this chapter is really cool. Once again it's kinda the "look at me" situation - but the opposite so it works pretty nicely! I didn't in my playthrough, But apparently you can kill them if you shoot them just right! Overall the chapter was pretty good, But the ending was... I'm not a fan. The last 5 or so minutes lets you meet Richmond in the flesh to which point he gives us a short chase before eventually ending his employment as a scientist prematurely. Really nice character, But I feel like he could've had a bit more time to himself in the chapter's ending. I really liked the audio log after he died though - That cut deep </3
Another 144 minutes later, And Chapters 3 and 4 are off the block. Let me tell you, how much I have come to LOVE [REDACTED 2] - And how it forever holds a place in my heart. Once again, You don't want spoilers? Don't look! Chapter 3: The Half Chapter Part One
Spoiler in the title I guess- But this chapter is kind of like the first half of a full chapter. In fact call it a spoiler for Chapter 4, But Chapters 3 and 4 together kind of form the arc of a full chapter. Lengthwise Chapter 3 is about the same length as your typical chapter clocking in at about an hour. Throughout Chapter 3, you end up exploring a really large underground forest. Don't do what I did where you walk past the radar that reveals the location of where to go- But overall I quite enjoyed the break in gameplay! Instead of a more linear chapter, This chapter is devoted to doing five smaller horror sections with the new enemy - The masks. They act almost as a half-way point between The Horse and The Mannequins - Which at first didn't seem so great, But just wait until you stick the three of them in a room together! While the ending is lacking (since it's the first part of an effectively two hour double chapter) overall the actual gameplay within it was pretty fun. It does do a lot less with the horror aspects though- so that's a shame.
Chapter 4: The Half Chapter Part Two
The good thing is I've already mentioned that this is the second part of the two parter, so introductions asides - What's Woodworm got on the block? Answer, It's got a lot. Woodworm (Chapter 4) almost instantly pulls us back into the horror environment with a spooky house with an ever shifting layout, And it works. Out of all the chapters- This was definitely one of the scariest. Without going too deep into the mechanics, The gameplay is changing constantly - But it's always such that you understand what you can do, But not what do do - And that's scary. Asides from that, I think Woodworm (my personal name choice for the house) might be up there with Richmond - I'm fighting favourites. Also Sam Lake is in this chapter, So I recommend.
Now that it's out, onto Chapter 5! Chapter 5: The Actual Half Chapters
It's been a while since Chapters 2, 3 and 4 - and now that Chapter 5 is out I can say that this chapter definetly came out well. *Technically* introducing one/two new entity, This chapter has us in two parts. Part 1 has us restore power to a spooky elevator while Part 2 has us explore the place at the bottom of the spooky elevator. All in all, This part of my review will definetly be smaller since I do a lot of talking about mechanics while focusing less on the story - But this bit? This is where it goes down. All the lore breaks down here and it was pretty darn cool if you were paying attention - so story folks will love this bit in my opinion. Asides from that, the gameplay revolves around providing power to a generator and then finding your way to the rift. Overall, not many "new" characters are introduced here - but I'm okay with that! For this chapter I think the focus on the plot progression works well. Overall, would reccomend.
Overall I'd definitely recommend picking up this game if you're interested, Especially since there's more of the game to come! If you're not sold yet, At least check out the demo! It's free and you'll never regret playing it! Unless you're scared of horses. Then you'll probably regret it deeply. * *I should note that Chapters 5, 6 and 7 are not out at the time of writing, So I'll be coming back to edit my review further when they release! Hope to see y'all there :3*
Don't be fooled, this SCP-inspired horror experience is tough as nails (on normal difficulty that is) but well worth your sweat and tears. You'll never see rocking horses the same way again.
2.2 hours in so far and this game is definitely worth your time and money. If you are a fan of horror that will stress you out? Get this game, it is VERY fun. Much love to the developers, even though you are EVIL!
I bought this game off a recommendation from a friend with hopes it would be great seeing as Sam Lake, Ben Starr and Neil Newbon were attached to it. Never felt so much tension with rocking horses before, i now hate rocking horses.
Only made it to chapter 2.5 so far, and I do like the horror aspect; it's been handled really well. It's been handled so well in fact, that I've had to temporarily halt my gameplay to get over the Neck-Snapping, crawling enemies that I legally cannot name in the case of spoilers. So yeah, pretty damn good in the horror aspects. The only critique I would say I have is that the puzzles feel a little TOO easy, with one of the ones I encountered more relying on real world knowledge then the actual game itself. Other then that, pretty good game thus far! Will update this review when I finish the game.
Of what I have played so far this is very very good! Improves upon and expands the demo greatly, while meeting all of the promises it made! Very scary indeed, Equine Larry is bad company.
I wanted to love this game. I like the aesthetics and the setting, the plot was interesting but the gameplay is a frustrating try-and-error where you have to memorize the path to take in a labyrinth while some Weeping Angels are after you. I endured until half of Chapter 3, but I think I'll just watch the rest on youtube.
