A nice idea in theory, but in practice it falls flat, movement is weird and delayed, probably by choice but even still an unfathomable feature to have in a game where movement is pretty crucial. No checkpoint is wild when you have arbitrary deaths all the time by these poles, water and whatever the ♥♥♥♥ there is on the ground and their immaculate hitbox, like is this really the best mechanic to have ? To get one shot by WATER for some ungodly reason.
Hated the movement, disliked the gameplay. Not a fan.
I normally would recommend a game if its free even if it has some jank but this game has SO much of it. You can swing to hit enemies before they even get to you, any time an enemy hits you, you wind up stunned unable to attack for a second and if they get another hit it continues. I beat the full game in about an hour, which it wouldve probably been less however a couple times I died not realizing about certain mechanics and one of the levels requires you to go through gaps in pillars which I constantly had issues going through them, I had to spam jump over and over and hold to the side and hope my character would go through them. The ONLY reason I played through this entire game is because I like to achievement hunt and even then multiple times I was tempted to just say screw it and uninstall the game with how much jank and annoying parts there were. This honestly feels like someone made a game for a student project or something and then stuck it on Steam for free.
Fun game! The story isn't super cohesive, but there were a few funny moments. For the price (free) it was a really fun short game.
"The Stranded Traveler" offers you buggy gameplay, inconsistent combat, and terrible platforming. This is covered with nice visuals in order to hopefully fix it's bad core gameplay. This game needs a total rework in basic mechanics such as movement and combat. It's very very lacking as it is right now. Unfortunately, all that seems to get changed with this game are very minimal changes, which only try to patch up what is at it's core, a bad game. It needs to be rebuilt with solid foundations.
This is a very nice little adventure platforming game with some cool features and an interesting story! :D It was fun and I enjoyed getting the achievements for it, so a must have for achievement hunters!
The Stranded Traveler is a 2D side-scrolling action-adventure game that I did enjoyed more than I was expecting. The art style is pretty nice and the controls work pretty well (both on keyboard and on controller)... the only problem is really me, that suck a lot on jumping sections. Fully recommend it, after all it is totally free!
