The Skin Stapler

Thoroughly enjoyed peeling back the stapled skin, slowly learning the story of The Skin Stapler. The game had that cheesy 80s atmosphere wrapped up in a spooky little story that I absolutely loved! Getting to switch between the different victims and getting to see what ultimately happened with them was a fun aspect of the game for me personally. Definitely recommend!

Not only is the crime rate increasing daily, but there is a serial killer on the loose who is targeting young and attractive women. He skins them and displays their bodies in a gruesome form of artwork. Detective Slater and his young partner Knox are on the case, but this specific killer reminds Slater of another serial killer he apprehended years ago. Are these two cases linked together? That's what the Detectives Slater and knox need to find out in The Skin Stapler! The Skin Stapler is a walking simulator with horror and puzzle elements developed by Tainted Pack and published by Assemble Entertainment on the 7th of August 2026 on the Steam platform. Before I start this review, I want to mention that this game is the perfect example of why Steam needs to have a third option in its review system. I hope they'll include an informational option to tick from, as they do for the curator groups. This particular game does some good and some horrible things, and I am not talking about the horror component, which, in all fairness, is very mild. But let's start with the good stuff, shall we? I really like the visual feel of the game, with the implementation of the old-school style of PlayStation graphics. In this case, the old-school graphics suit the game perfectly; it gives a bit of freshness to what we are used to now and a sense of what the horror genre was like in the mid-90s. The story itself is quite good, and I particularly like the fact that you are playing both the detectives and the victims. The fact that you can also select any of the chapters at your leisure is attractive too, especially if you are an achievement hunter. The mediocrity starts with the mini-games and the puzzles. With the food mini-games, well, you have to follow the correct steps to make a hot dog or doughnuts. You have to do it only four times in each of the mini-games; thank god for that - It's boring! Let's be frank: watching the grass grow is more satisfying than playing these mini-games. There are a couple of puzzles, but they're also very simple and don't really add anything to the game. Regarding the so-called comical aspect of the game, it's shallow, to be polite. Sticking a VHS in your derriere or headbutting a paper spike with it is mildly funny at best. I would have thought that accidental kills would have been more appropriate. Perhaps the developers haven't come across the movie Tucker and Dale vs Evil. I suggest they should watch it, as it might help them improve their comical aspect in future games. It is clear to me that they are running out of ideas. But what really turned me off were the jokes with the characters (mostly women) who perform erotic actions with food through the couple of mediocre mini-games. If it happened once or twice during the length of the game, I would consider it a little bit of a variation and so be it - let it go and move on, but all the way through the mini-games is bad taste. I'm not sure what type of audience they are targeting with this game, but that type of joke would have mildly resonated with me for a short time when I was transitioning from a young boy to an early teen. That's a long time ago, and I am sure a large number of gamers feel the same. This is why I don't play erotic games, as they don't contribute anything to humankind. And believe me, I have received many keys for this genre of game through my Steam Group via the Curator Connect System, which I have never activated. To put the cherry on the cake of The Skin Stapler, the game is very short. Because there is no informational option in the Steam review system, I will not recommend this game despite the good stuff. If you want to try it, wait until the game is on sale for a 70% discount or more! compared to masacre at mirage without any se. refrences. i prefer the other one masacre at mirage. where jobs were good and horror is way better with clown in each one and graphics were good. if this one have been done like this without all seual refrences it would have been great.

Pretty alright. Nice story I like the characters in the game honestly and the story behind The stapler is simple but interesting. not much else to say about the game.

Was so pleasantly surprised with one. I've been fairly burnt out on PSX horror due to the sheer volume of bad games in the genre, and The Skin Stapler completely subverts those expectations. Yes this game is extremely cheesy and ridiculous, BUT they use actual voice acting instead of poorly done text to speech. Detective Slader and the Skin Stapler Killer had fantastic performances and it made the game even better. One slight complaint was some repetition in certain chapters of the game, but it's not a dealbreaker and the game eventually switches back to a more interesting section. The most notable thing for me was the world building with everything feeling connected as if it was a real gritty city. And the music in this title was fantastic.
