Encounter unique enemies in each area - some more capable at pursuing sneaky Sandfoxes than others! Keep on your guard, as even an extinguished torch or door left open can trigger the suspicions of those out to get you.

The Sandfox – known as the Kasha’i – is famed across the land as the legendary line of faithful protectors and servants to the crown. The current holder of this mantle has been left for dead at the base of ‘Traitor’s Fall’ - a deep pit leading to the depths of the underground prisons. Betrayed by the Queen in order to hide her regicide, you must now take on the role of the Sandfox and begin your journey back up to the palace. Save the kingdom from the Queen’s evil plot and reap revenge with the iconic weapon of the Kasha’i: the glass dagger.
In your journey through the dark caves, dusty mausoleums, dangerous prisons, and crumbling ancient architecture, you will need to avoid the nastier inhabitants of this underground world and aid those friendlier to a new face. Your progression will lead to the discovery of the true threat to the kingdom above: a sand-borne evil emerging below. As dusk becomes night, and night becomes dawn, you will need to rely on the aid of new allies, make your way back into the palace, and end the treachery of the wicked Queen.

For 6 hours, this game was fun. The movement, while it took some getting used to, was enjoyable. The glitches were minor and uncommon. However, I reached a part in the main quest where I need to meet someone whose name starts with Z in a certain place. I've had the quest marker for him dissapear two times. I have no idea where I'm supposed to go, or if the quest bugged out and locked a gate it wasn't supposed to, but I don't feel like running back to where Z originally was again to see if he somehow ended up back there. TL;DR The main quest bugged out in a really frustrating way, that while probably fixable, makes me not want to play.
I held off playing the siege and the sandfox for about a year after the poor reception, hoping for a patch to smooth things ou. That patch never came so i figured i might as well get it over with and clear it off my backlog. Turns out the game was much better than the ratings had led me to believe. Doesn't mean this game is flawless though, it has many issues that no doubt contributed to its mixed reviews. It's just that for me it does a few things very well, particularly the 2 things that i adore in metroidvania's; exploration and level design. All while bringing something completely new to the table in the form of stealth rather than combat. This is the siege and the sandfox's flagship feature which makes it stand out among its peers. The stealth gameplay is very unique and at times kinda fun, depending on your patience levels. Stealth gameplay has always needed some degree of patience but that's especially the case here. I won't proclaim that it's the deepest stealth system i've seen, especially without throwable distractions. There is a few other unique mechanics though that i appreciated such as peeking through keyholes, closing and opening doors to break LoS and torches that can be doused for the cover of darkness. These mechanics are pretty cool but most often obsolete as the AI is kind of dumb, which does make it feel less rewarding. There's also a few rather challenging sections that are a bit frustrating at times by design. Isolated enemies are almost never a challenge but as soon as they come in duo taking them out becomes a lot harder with them watching eachother's backs. Not every enemy type is equal in this regard though but there aren't too many varients for this anyways. However there were some suprises here and they all had their gimmick to make them different. What made the encounters more pleasant though was your options to deal with them. Taking them out one by one is a viable strategy if their numbers aren't too great but if you were quick on your feet you could also run past them. The most fun and consistent though was platforming above/underneath them in the cracks & crevices of the world without being noticed. Here the level design really shone with every room giving you multiple routes past your enemies, there were quick routes with high risk or slower and safer options. I personally prefered these as it made me engage with the platforming more which was a mostly smooth experience with some asterisks. The jump height itself was the real contributor to the controls feeling a bit akward sometimes since you jump higher when you stand still which some parts of the level design rely on. But doing that while being chased can lead to some early game-overs since you're oneshot when caught. The glide, which you unlock very late into the game, is also rather clunky. If you're falling from up high you can only start gliding early as it'll refuse to open once you reach critical velocity. Light control quirks aside though the platforming is really cool, the way you scale walls and swing poles feels properly badass like a thief in the night. The level design is excellent because it allows multiple paths in each room as mentioned before but even on a larger scale the map allows for so many paths to progress with an INCREDIBLY dense map that's fully interconnected. It starts of sorta linear in the early game but by midgame it blows wide open with a super nonlinear approach that lets you unlock movement upgrades in the order you chose. I also love how the rooms are seamless, so no room transitions that fade the screen to black and break immersion. Just non stop uninterrupted exploration of a rich and varied world. Said world is absolutely gorgeous with some of the best pixel art i've seen, maybe even top 10 for me personally. There's a nice variety in environments ranging from great caverns, grimey cisterns and dungeons to opulent palaces, dusty tombs and lush gardens What i especially love is how the level design and the visuals work in tandem. Each platform and wall feels like it's actually a part of the world instead of a random floating platform sitting there because of video game logic. No, every single thing is attached in the background or foreground which makes the game super immersive paired with the realistic platforming. This immersive atmosphere is further boosted with great sound design, ambient SFX and music that make this world a joy to explore. Said world also lots of puzzles to spice things up a bit and add some variety on top off lots of quests and a handfull of collectibles. Most of these have to be backtracked for which leads me to a nitpick regarding QoL. You can only have two map markers at the same time which is ridiculous for how insanely big the map is. At least quests get marked automatically but the tracking system for their completion is also bugged and thus hard to know if you missed any. It's a pretty hard game to 100% since there's no maps or guides online and the game's completionist tools are basic and inaccurate. I also think that some achievements are bugged because i found every collectible (the tracker said as much) and still it didn't pop. I wish that's where it ended with the bugs but there were many more than that, especially related to the AI which sometimes spazzed in place. I also got stuck inside the actual terrain once but this and every other bug i encountered was fixed on a reload which takes you back to one of the plentifull save points that activated automatically when you run past them. Loading back in goes pretty fast and framerates were smooth although i think i did crash once. So on a technical level the game isn't quite there yet but you can beat it to credits at least. If i had a list of things i'd want the devs to fix it'd be these bugs first, followed by QoL for the map and completionist experience. The tolerance for this type of stuff varies between people though but i can live with it. Finally then there's the narrative which is despite some unresolved plot points still pretty good as well. I was an especially big fan of the narration which was done by a singular female narrator whose voice fit the setting perfectly. Both the writing and delivery were excellent and it made me engrossed in the game's world. There were cool lore snippets found in the collectible scrolls as well as lots of environmental story telling but the ending did leave me a bit bewildered. Also despite having siege in its name the game never feels like it takes place in a city under siege. All of this to say that the narrative and worldbuilding were also pretty cool, so despite some QoL, bug and control issues i liked everything else this game had to offer but that's because exploration and level design are so important to me which this game excelled at.

The Siege and the Sandfox is a pretty bitesized 2d metroidvania set in a beautifully rendered pixel art Arabian Nights inspired world. The gameplay depends on stealth and acrobatics - there is (almost) no fighting. The best I can explain it is that this game is a mix of Mark of Ninja, OG Prince of Persia and the old Splinter Cell mobile games. It works mostly well, except for swinging from poles which has too small of a hit box and the final gliding upgrade that might be some of the least responsive things to activate in recent memory. The map is pretty fun to navigate and there is a good amount of different routes to take. The story is pretty neat, has some weight to it and a pretty cool reveal near the end. The biggest flaws of the game are the mentioned gliding cape, swinging poles and the fact that the game should've ended about 1 - 1.5h before it actually did. Without going into spoilers, the game has a really nice climactic moment near the end where I was convinced the game was gonna end - except it was (kind of) a fake out and led you to a glorified fetch quest and a final area that wasn't particularly challenging, just a bit tedious. Overall, I feel like the Siege and the Sandfox is worth it for the art, the story, the fluid gameplay and an interesting premise even with its misgivings. Recommended!
Look the premise of the game is very insteresting and the gameplay is good, my biggest issues are the controls that are not very responsive on some parkours specially wall jump, and the bugs, i lost count of how many times i was able to walk in the air, or a guard will agro and then freeze in place and nothing will change that until you touch them and they kill you, and that tends to happen on the path you must pass by, happens so often to the point its unplayable.
This could be a great game but its riddled with bug, glitch and probably the most annoying backtrack in metroidvania genre and the dev to this day i write this review seem has no intention to fix/patch the game at all making the game a total mess to play with, and in my case i encounter GAME BREAKING BUG WHICH SOFTLOCK THE GAME The good part - its 2D stealth metroidvania game - the art is beautiful to look at - amazing sound aaaand thats it, thats the only good part for me, now the bad part - the game really want you to be 90% stealth all the time, at first it was fun but it get annoying because… - your character is totally weak, 1 hit and you dead, pretty much from everything, sword attack, dog, snake, monster attack, even hit by stone throw, you die in 1 hit, thats it - there is many section where you have no choice but to be patient and wait the guard to move away, then you hide behind object, then wait for the guard to pass you again, THEN you can progress but… - the game has many backtracking and the backtracking in this game is awful - some of the fast travel location is horrible, so you need to do all that platforming and avoiding the guard again - you can try force yourself sprinting pass the enemy but… - your movement while nimble, is not exactly agile like in silksong where you press jump, you immediately jump… - in here there is momentum, when you press jump, you can see your character lower his body for a split second before he actually jump, the same with wall jumping, if you press jump too fast while he still facing the wall he land, he wont jump, if you press attack during “get up from ledge/ladder” animation, there is chance you will fall down instead, the platforming timing in this game can be tighter than old school tomb raider at some point, so the game can feel like rhytym game during parkour moment - combine that with the bug/glitch, the game become horribly frustrating Speaking ofthe bug and glitch…. Its ridiculous, here is list of bug/glitch that i found so far - not game breaking but during “quest” to follow 2 npc to secret hideout, those 2 npc keep looping, so everytime i enter the secret hideout, the 2 npc will do their thing and the narrator also keep repeating the dialogue - speaking of narrator, no idea this is bug or not but you cant skip text in this game, you have to hear the narrator speak until she finish, this become annoying after a while - enemy suddenly become alert for no reason - enemy suddenly stop patrolling (if he stand in front of door/path that you need to go, you pretty much dead) - enemy suddenly keep looking left and right nonstop, so you have no timing to avoid the guard and prettty much guaranteed to be spotted - enemy will become alert despite you hide behind box/jar/object, this one thankfully very rare, i only got this twice in my playtime - enemy will still see you despite you are in shadow (complete hidden) - ironfloor/trapdoor sometime closed by itself even after you open it, this is supposed to be one time only, you pull the lever and it open the floor/trapdoor forever, but for no reason sometime it closed by it own when you pass it, YOU HAVE TO RESTART LAST CHECKPOINT IMMEDIATELY, IF YOU TRIGGER ANOTHER CHECKPOINT AFTER THAT BUG, THERE IS 50/50 CHANCE IT WILL PERMANENTLY CLOSED AND THE GAME PRETTY MUCH SOFTLOCK - elevator you send down sometime went missing, like the whole elevator just gone, AGAIN RESTART LAST CHECKPOINT IMMEDIATELY OR CHANCE TO GET SOFTLOCK - sometime jump doesnt work, i got this a lot especially during combination with another movement (during running, sliding, after doing walljump, etc) - i dont know if this bug or on purpose but after any action (land, climb a ladder, get up from ledge, etc) you need a split second before you can do another action beside moving (running, crouch, attack, etc) - next quest sometime didnt appear (no icon on map) so you have no idea where to go, it will still trigger the quest once you reach the location thankfully - and the most game breaking bug and what made me stop playing this game, i gather all 5 evidence and somehow the npc didnt trigger next quest (he keep asking for more evidence despite i already give him all 5) I TRIED RESTART LAST CHECKPOINT AND REVISITING BACK THE PLACE WHERE I GOT THE EVIDENCE, NOTHING HAPPENED, THE GAME PRETTY MUCH SOFTLOCK ON ME AND I GIVE UP AT THIS POINT The game could be something else, something unique, but the bug and glitch literally destroy the core of the game and some even break the game I really cant recommend this game at all even when on discount
The game would be great if the devs actually fixed the bugs. I literally got softlocked nearly a year after its release. My only options are waiting for a patch that will never come or try to restart the game from the beginning and pray the elevator buttons don't get randomly and permanently stuck again.
谁打的类银标签,明明就是潜行跑酷游戏,存档点乱放、bug一堆,敌人经常抽风导致失败,一直在重复跑图,非常不推荐购买
A unique and genuinely fun if somewhat flawed gem of a game that fans of the action-stealth genre should check out. The retro graphics and sublime soundtrack draw you in while the acrobatic approach to gameplay makes one think of the older Prince of Persia games. My only complaint is how the game often does a poor job of sign-posting where you are supposed to go which means you can easily get lost in the giant map without any real idea of where you need to go next. Still, I would recommend this for anyone looking for a different approach to the metroidvania style of games!
