«The Savior's Gang»
[i] Обзор был написан для группы Обзоры Онлайн. https://gaming.youtube.com/watch?v=qc01wv7ZbLw The Savior's Gang is a modern take on the tales in the bible with a hint of a British humor in the vein of Monty Python. You're Jesus Christ navigating your followers to safety, avoiding perilous obstacles and environmental hazards such as falling trees, all the while texting and arguing with your father about wanting to go home. Think a more action paced Lemmings and you'll have an idea. The problems at the time of writing, however, are issues with the levels themselves. I ran into a few invisible walls (as seen in the video above), not to mention got hung up on small things like stair I shouldn't be caught on. The characters you guide are also a bit on the floaty side, often being hard to control and inevitably are killed by whatever dangers they wouldn't stop in front of, though most or all can be brought back when you run over the holy grail. It's an interesting concept for an adventure/simulation game, but after a while the game's bug start to wear you thin, not to mention the concept itself does start to get old pretty quick. This is a really hard game to say oick it up or avoid, as it's just not something that really held my intention, but overall it isn't a bad experience. For now, it will be a not suggested due to some of the minor issues mentioned. The Savior's Gang is a fairly basic game concept, and the fact that some ground textures make problems for simply walking takes it from a fun semi-casual experience to rage-inducing due to some elements just needing some tightening up. Hopefully Catness Game Studios takes the time to tighten up the game a little more, as then it will be a niche game at a bargain price worth checking out. Until then, you might want to hold off and wait for those patches to potentially go live in the near future.

EDIT: 3/6/19 As I was writing this, the first update was being posted (to add a game exit button.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Savior’s Game……what a delightful game to play, and to review! Rarely have I had such ugly-innocent fun in what is essentially a “flat Earth” (so to speak), single-level platformer with 17 very challenging game levels utilizing some of the most lovingly innocent idiots since Lemmings. Perhaps I’m not 100% accurate in my interpretation, but as I understand it, The Savior was crucified, but failed to successfully ascend, and was therefore trapped between Earth and heaven. It became his duty to lead his followers through various “promised lands” filled with dangers, and death in many forms. So, as with most platformers, the goal is to discover the best method to avoid death, and to deliver the greatest number of followers to the end of each of the 17 levels in the fastest time, in preparation for the next challenging level. There is constant communication with various entities, as if in a MMO with many viewers/commenters, including “Stan”, which is how Satan prefers to be called (of course!) In addition to completing each level in the briefest time with the greatest number of living followers, there is also the task of collecting souls to exchange for upgrades to increase speed, and the numbers of followers at each level beginning. This player/reviewer has never been what might be called a “platformer star”, so in six hours I’ve only advanced as far as completing the first seven levels. As levels progress, the dangers become substantially more difficult to overcome, and generally success is based on performing tasks/travels in proper sequence and finding triggers (such as buttons) to allow safe(ish) progress. And the greatest challenge? While you wish for the greatest numbers of followers at completion, lesser numbers are far easier to control successfully while avoiding geographically close-set dangers. The Savior’s Game is easily one of the funniest games I’ve played this year, as each death includes hopeful messages of the possibility of salvation….from one who has just died horribly. And at this price (discount or not), it’s a difficult game to refuse. Unfortunately, TSG still needs some work. Sudden inexplicable camera angle changes can lead to mega-death and seems to serve no purpose at this point in development. Box movement in order to access areas beyond deadly pits can take a bit of getting used to, and doesn't always work perfectly. And while in-game upgrade purchases add to game possibilities greatly, they seem to be exhausted far too early in the game (or so says this reviewer, who may be wrong.) Fortunately, the developers are extremely responsive, and while no updates have yet occurred, they are expected soon. If you have $4 to spend and aren’t squeamish about what some few may feel are insults directed toward Christianity (but are no risk to any faith genuinely based on love, as "Life of Brian" proved), you will likely never regret this purchase. (At the very least, you’ll know within the two-hour refund limit.) What to lose? Almost nothing….. Thank you for reading (and for developing this gem.)
Now I'm a believer 🤣 Cheap little game, but really original, with a lot of fun, some nice ideas and memes. Best you'll get with just 4$!
Welcome Savior: The world you have tried to save from its sin has turned on you. The Romans crucify you and as you are ascending to the heavens something goes wrong as a terrible storm hits and you are unable to enter the gates of heaven and are trapped in limbo between the worlds. This angers thy father and he unleashes his rage upon the lands; he will end the human race for its transgression. You believe in your followers, as they had shown remorse for their actions and you want to save them, but your father is not listening to you. You proceed to try and save as many of them as you can get past your father's fire and fury. But without your powers, you are limited in what you can do. All you can do is lead your followers through the treacherous traps that await them. Released and self-published on Mar 02, 2019 by the developer, Catness Game Studios. It is user tagged as casual, violent, adventure, simulation, indie game. Personally, I would tag it as difficult; it really is not that casual of a play. It can be very punishing indeed as you learn to navigate the paths you must travel. It does feature Full controller support but does not support keyboard and mouse usage. I found this a bit unusual for this era of game engines. Using the controller, you can control the camera angles in the same way as you would a mouse. I would have used K/M for my play, had it been available to me, as I am not the most proficient at controlling the camera with a controller yet (I have just recently returned to using one in the past few months after many years without). With 17 levels to lead your followers through and 20 plus ways to die, there will be lots of death on your journey. The levels get progressively harder as you conquer levels. The follow-player camera needs work in various areas where you are traveling through the traps; the game zooms in so you cannot even see where you are going, resulting in the loss of followers, which can get quite frustrating. I raged a couple of times due to it, as it seems to happen in the same areas every time. There has been one patch to address the issue prior to my playing the title, but it still needs additional tweaking. The A.I. needs some adjustments as well, as occasionally they will not follow the path you have chosen and suicide on the wrong path when crossing over spike pits. The developers are looking into this, and will hopefully have it patched soon. Quite an interesting title - I never suspected that they had messaging and wifi to the heavens. We start out in the first area, there really is no tutorial as you mainly lead your followers through the maze of traps. There will be goblets spread around the levels that when obtained, can increase your follower counts for those that have perished during the journey. There are soul orbs and crystals to collect, which are the currency that is used in the devils market to purchase perks that give you an advantage; with all the devilishly designed traps that lay ahead, you will need every advantage. These include max number of followers at a level start, an increased follower resurrection count when you retrieve a goblet, and speed boost for your followers. I do recommend that you gather as many as possible to upgrade, as the levels are also timed, and without the upgrades you will find yourself running out of time before you can complete some of the more difficult levels. The mechanics really switch up the gameplay as you dig deeper into the title. They are very well-designed levels and mechanics. The Savior's Gang: Can the Savior Save Mankind from the Wrath of God? 7/10 Pros +Full Controller Support +Fair Price Point +Challenging Gameplay +Steam Achievements Cons -No Keyboard & Mouse Support -Needs Some Polish -No Steam Trading Cards
Key provided by developer/publisher for review purposes. LOOOL, very funny game! Gore physics and deaths. God bless this game!
You guys made me laugh out loud for 5 bucks. I'd say that's worth it :)
