Different type of story which is good. Graphics are not good. Mini-games are decent except for the signature "trace" I tried very combo of point ordering for the cursive k and none worked - crappy puzzle. I finally found a solution online. The person who created the puzzle obviously know nothing about writing a cursive 'k'. The Glued to My Chair and Film Critic achievements did not unlock the first time. Film Critic did not unlock the second play either and I did not alter any settings. I had to delete the save file, uninstall and reinstall the game before Film Critic unlocked on the third play. Alawar needs to pull their heads out of their butts.
Pretty short and easy. Story-line is reasonably OK, but the graphics are slightly poor. One thing I do love - the conclusion of the story at the end. Most HOGs just abruptly end, but this one has a monologue at the end which is a nice touch.

Rating: ★★★★★ The Saint: Abyss of Despair is a captivating adventure that seamlessly blends mystery, puzzle-solving, and a touch of the mystical. From the moment I delved into this game, I was immediately drawn to its unique atmosphere and intricate storyline. One standout feature that added an extra layer of intrigue for me was the inclusion of Persian signs, lending an authentic and culturally rich feel to the overall gaming experience. The game's narrative follows a compelling storyline that unfolds in a mysterious and desolate environment. As the player, you embark on a quest to unravel the secrets of the abyss and overcome numerous challenges along the way. The Persian signs scattered throughout the game not only contribute to the immersive setting but also showcase a thoughtful attention to detail that sets The Saint apart from other adventure games. The visual aesthetics with beautifully rendered scenes that transport players to a world shrouded in enigma. The attention to detail in incorporating Persian signs adds an extra layer of authenticity to the environment, making it feel both exotic and familiar. The puzzles in the game are well-crafted, offering a satisfying level of challenge without becoming frustrating. The integration of Persian signs into these puzzles not only adds cultural significance but also enhances the immersive experience, making each puzzle feel like a meaningful piece of the larger narrative. In conclusion, The Saint: Abyss of Despair is a thoroughly enjoyable adventure game that successfully combines an intriguing narrative, visually stunning environments, and the unique inclusion of Persian signs. It's a testament to the developers' commitment to creating a rich and immersive gaming experience. The Saint offers a captivating journey that will appeal to fans of mystery and puzzle-solving games.
A mild recommend when it goes on sale; you can get it for less than a dollar. If not, avoid; it's not recommended. It's mostly serviceable, but not without its flaws. The story is your typical supernatural, mystery fare with a nonsensical premise coupled with dreary, extraneous exposition that frequently have no meaningful impact to the plot and deadpan dialogue/voice-acting. The HOGs are decent; hitboxes can sometimes be a bit wonky but serviceable for the most part. Minigames are alright too; most are quite intuitive on what you need to do to solve them, bar a few which are extremely tedious (clear solution but requires a lot of legwork to get to it). A lot of backtracking but no map; some interactions only appear after certain triggers so you will spend a decent amount of time checking locations.
