I've watched RonnieKrazy play this games a few times and normally souls like games do not appeal to me. This game is so cute though, I couldn't resist. I played for a few minutes with Keyboard and Mouse but I didn't like it, wasn't intuitive, a bit clunky. Which is understandable because the game is designed for controller. Once I got my controller connected, it was a whole other ball game! The MC is cute, the enemies are cute, and despite me dying several times before the second boss, I am having a great time!! I look forward to trying to find the secrets and 100% this game! Also... who can resist a Game company called A Few Dragons?!?!?! <3
First of, I have a heavy bias on squirrels, so... I felt obligated to try this game. I've already played it multiple times and I find the gameplay very endearing and fun. Combat is simple, yet effective, the different abilities help you against your foes! It feels good to take down enemies that can tank a couple hits as well. Exploration rewards you with secrets such as health upgrade and more. Music is very pleasant to hear, some of the songs get stuck in my head easily, especially the tundra region. The art style is very cute and nice, I love the character design for Ima and the others. I really recommend this game if you love squirrels and just want a chill (yet still somewhat challenging) experience.
The game world is varied and interesting to explore. The art is cute and has some very cool character designs. There is a decent selection of abilities and the combat has a good rhythm to it.
A nice game with absolutely beautiful art. Quite challenging for me but I will perservere and finish it! Very jealous of Ima's lashes.
I was really looking forward to this because the art style looked very cute and it seemed like a short fun exploration game with combat. The combat is unbearably bad. Too slow, bad hit detection, bad windup on enemies, no input on health beside the small bar, very little magic reward for killing enemies which makes it so you can't heal. I tried to get past the first boss buts it such frustrating mechanics it's not worth it to go further. Also the hit boxes on these thorns are much wider than they should be and passing through them is also always frustrating. Cute characters and an okay story can't get me past the lack of balanced combat in a 'souls-like' i came back, played a bit more and got only slightly farther before the game lost all intrest in telling me where to go, how to get there, what the quest objective was. this game has very little direction the more you play it, so you're just running around doing NOTHING and back tracking trying to unlock more routes. it's not very good, it needs more clear objectives on top of everything else i said
As someone who's coming from a place of impatience and reluctance when it comes to souls-like games, I wasn't sure how I'd fare with The Sacred Acorn. But safe to say I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it so much! The art style is cute and cozy, perfect for the theme of games I mostly stream, and I felt genuinely invested in the battles (I didn't end stream 'til I beat the mushroom boss). I thoroughly enjoyed the music which added to the atmosphere, especially during combat, where I found it to be simple but efficient! It wasn't painstakingly difficult to figure out how to fight the bosses, nor did I feel frustrated with the controls-- in my case, it was just a matter of timing. All in all, I highly recommend the game and am excited to continue exploring the world, upgrading my abilities, and fighting more bosses! 🤎
This game has a great and has a really smooth feel to it. This game will test your ability to play any soul-like game by having to dodge, attack and heal to defeat bosses. You will meet some really cute characters and grow to love Ima the Squirrel. I love the hand drawn art in the game as well. I can't wait to see how this game evolves over time. This is definitely a game I would recommend to anyone who likes fast paced adventure games.
An awesome game with cute characters, an original artstyle and Hollow-Like gameplay. I found myself exploring every corner of the map to leave no stone unturned for hidden upgrades or secrets. The boss fights are not too difficult, they are just challenging enough to enjoy without frustration. The devs are active in responding to community feedback about bugs and gameplay issues and are quick to patch any of these issues as they are brought to their attention. As an early tester for this game, it is amazing to see how much it has grown and how much has been added since the early playtests. I applaud all of the hard work that went into this game and highly recommend giving this game a go.
- Very cute artwork and setting - Feels like a top down Hollow Knight - Pro tip, dashing can work like a dodge - Live your magical squirrel dream
Really enjoyed this game.
