About

Imagine any fantasy RPG, but with traditional aspects simplified and turned inside out.
You don't need to eat food to heal - just pluck a piece of bread into a wound.
No need to sort out what’s to sell to a merchant: everything you collect is simply considered as "loot" and you sell a pile of such loot by weight.
There is an inventory and leveling up, but no complex skill-trees and inventory management.
The Dragon, the main antagonist(?), constantly glitches and breaks the game's rules. Find out why! Well... or don't. It's your choice, and it matters, like choices in RPGs should.
NO FISHING MINI-GAMES.

Dungeons are held by the Island’s administration. There is a technical floor, the workers of which make sure that torches are lit, traps are working and monsters are healed after a raid. Gritty secrets are hidden on the lowest floors, which can give you a chance to completely flip the storyline.

Carefully plan your targets, moves and ammo. Get ready to sweat!

Stock up with torches. There are plenty of places to explore!

You're stuck on an Adventure Island. There's a local attraction - the Dungeon, where you can raid, explore, loot, gain experience and level up. Just buy an adventurer's ticket, pass a turnstile, enter the elevator and choose the floor.
The workers of the Island's administration make sure that traps are working, torches are lit and monsters are healed after raids. At the first glance, everything seems PERFECT for an aspiring adventurer, so why leave?
Turns out that everything is not as it seems. There's a dark, dirty secret that the Cool King is hiding. Which is not cool. Monsters are tired of the constant respawn loop, their lives are like a groundhog day.
But the main monster, the Glitchy Dragon, went out of control and broke the game's rules in order to find the right person for his (in)genius plan. Maybe it's you? It's up to you to decide!

Хорошая и приятная игра. Жаль что игра короткая, но я понимаю почему. Я бы сказал, что готов поиграть во вторую часть когда она выйдет (если выйдет).
Кайф
this game is funny and crazy with fun fights but its also very easy and i beat it in a day so it hooks you in for a short time.
Fun game: 7/10 not ground breaking but will remain in my game rotation. highly recommend to pick it up for a rainy day type of game. Minor bugs were prevalent but nothing that would break the game. pleasantly surprised how fun the gameplay was. It was simple, very linear but importantly didnt wear itself out. At no point did the game feel grindy - even playing on the hardest difficulty until the last mission - I never felt a need to grind levels or gear or anything. Its a great game for a quick laugh and some fun mildly challenging dungeons and boss fights. Took me 6 hours to beat the main story while also doing a couple side quest along the way. Will be very excited for the DLC to come out
Developed by Dionysus Acroreites and published by Catoptric Games, The RPG is an indie adventure that wears its inspirations proudly while refusing to take itself too seriously. Built around the idea of stripping role-playing games down to their essentials, it presents a world where familiar fantasy tropes are both celebrated and ridiculed. Instead of sprawling systems and endless stat management, the game offers a compact experience centered on exploration, humor, and meaningful decisions. Its minimalist approach immediately sets it apart, creating an adventure that feels welcoming to newcomers while still offering enough depth to satisfy players looking for something unconventional. The setting is one of the game's most creative elements. Players arrive on Adventure Island, a destination where heroes willingly purchase tickets to challenge a massive dungeon. What begins as a lighthearted premise quickly evolves into something more intriguing. The dungeon isn't merely a dangerous place filled with monsters; it is essentially a maintained attraction, complete with workers who repair traps, relight torches, and ensure every creature is ready for the next wave of adventurers. This bizarre blend of fantasy and corporate efficiency gives the world a distinctive personality, and the deeper players venture, the more apparent it becomes that something is fundamentally wrong beneath the island's cheerful façade. The narrative balances comedy with mystery surprisingly well. At the center of the story is a world trapped in repetition, where monsters are continuously resurrected and hidden truths remain buried beneath layers of absurdity. Encounters with unusual characters, including a dragon capable of disrupting the rules of the game itself, add a meta quality that keeps the story engaging. The game repeatedly emphasizes player choice, allowing decisions to influence how events unfold and encouraging multiple playthroughs to uncover alternate outcomes. While the writing never abandons its comedic roots, it introduces enough intrigue to make players genuinely curious about what lies at the end of their journey. Gameplay follows the same philosophy of simplicity without sacrificing engagement. Inventory management is intentionally streamlined, removing much of the micromanagement associated with the genre. Healing items are unconventional, equipment systems are easy to understand, and progression remains accessible throughout the experience. The developers intentionally avoid overloading players with crafting trees and unnecessary distractions, choosing instead to focus on the fundamentals of exploration and combat. Even the game's self-aware humor extends to its feature list, openly acknowledging common RPG clichés while deliberately omitting them. Exploration plays a significant role in maintaining the game's momentum. Adventure Island is filled with hidden paths, secrets, and locations that reward curiosity. Torches become an important tool as players descend deeper into darker areas, reinforcing the feeling of embarking on a genuine expedition. The nonlinear structure gives players freedom to wander at their own pace, and the satisfaction of discovering hidden corners of the world often rivals the rewards themselves. Despite its minimalist presentation, the game succeeds in creating a sense of wonder that many larger RPGs struggle to achieve. Combat is straightforward but requires attention. Rather than relying on complex mechanics, encounters focus on timing, positioning, and resource management. Players must consider how they approach battles and make smart decisions regarding their equipment and supplies. This approach keeps combat approachable while still offering moments of tension, especially during more difficult encounters. Those expecting highly detailed character customization or expansive skill systems may find the mechanics somewhat restrained, but the simplicity aligns perfectly with the game's overall design philosophy. Visually, The RPG embraces a stylized aesthetic that complements its eccentric tone. The environments, creatures, and character designs all contribute to a world that feels intentionally odd yet consistently charming. Combined with its humorous writing and polished presentation, the game delivers an experience that feels cohesive from beginning to end. It may not have the production values of major RPG releases, but it compensates with originality and a clear understanding of its own identity. The RPG succeeds because it never loses sight of what it wants to accomplish. It is a humorous, self-aware adventure that distills the essence of role-playing games into an accessible package while still offering memorable storytelling and rewarding exploration. Beneath its jokes and minimalist systems lies a surprisingly thoughtful experience that invites players to question the conventions of the genre while enjoying them at the same time. Rating: 8/10
There is only one sensitivity adjustment for looking in all directions. If I set it low enough so the vertical movement doesn't give me motion sickness then the horizontal too slow to be able to do anything. I couldn't get far enough in to give it an honest chance story/gameplaywise but the first 20 minutes or so didn't do much for me. For reference, the Supraland games are among my favorite games, I've bought versions Skyrim something like 4 or 5 times, and I enjoyed both Loathing games so I'm exactly the target market.
For the first hour it felt good and brought memories of Supraland. Exploring the world, looking for loot and questing felt fun, but after discovering most of the mechanics, I realized that it's very shallow: - Looking for loot doesn't matter because it all respawns. - Killing monsters doesn't matter because they all also respawn. - Character, weapon and armor upgrades barely matter since most of enemies can be killed by continuously attacking and jumping away. And since everything respawns, they can be easily farmed to instantly become overpowered. - 3-4 out of 6 hours of my playtime were in a loop of doing easy and boring dungeons, travelling to the king, repeat... It completely killed all the fun. The would has its charm, but that's it. Everything else just feels out of place for me. Maybe one day I'll come back and change my mind, but for now, I just gave up and replayed Supraland.
