The Rift is a tower defense game with elements of arena shooter and RPG gameplay that will appeal to players of all skill levels. Enemies from an alternate universe are attacking and it's up to the player to defeat them and send them back to their universe.
The game is set in the year 2077 and contains spectacular environments, effects and soundtracks. During the course of gameplay the player progresses through different missions , each with its own objectives. Each mission sheds some light into the origins of the attacks.
The game is consists of 20 unique levels, a wide variety of towers and enemy types. Towers have different strengths and require both time and resources to build. A portion of resources left at the end of each level are carried forward into the next level.
The player can choose to play as one of four different characters and earns Steam achievements whilst progressing through the levels.
