In The Rescue of Mermaids, you play Garry, a rare human-looking creature who can become into octopus when aroused (eromorph). Garry has three mermaid companions accompanying him on his journey to find a new planet to call home, but when they finally find an ideal planet, the mermaids end up being kidnapped. Now he needs to figure out how to rescue them and ensure peace and security for his lineage.
The game is a 2d side scrolling platform with bomberman-like battle, the purpose of the game is to rescue three mermaids wherever they are and guarantee peace for their lineage of octopus-men.

I really vacillated between whether to mark this review "Recommended" or "Not Recommended"—maybe more than I have any other game I've ever reviewed. On one hand, this game is just straight up not fun to play. It is somehow every kind of bad game at once. It is simultaneously too simple and yet incredibly confusing, simultaneously too easy and completely unfair. On the other hand… this is a [i]fascinating[/i] piece of kusoge. It's like a video game made by a space alien that has an encyclopedic knowledge of retro gaming, but no idea why people actually play video games. This game's genre defies description. It's a level-based sidescroller, so you'd think it's a platformer. But no, you move freely like a shoot-em-up character, and the end of the first level sees you getting an infinite drill power that trivializes most movement. So maybe it's more of an exploration game? It sometimes certainly seems to think it's a Metroidvania, with gestures towards backtracking and item-based progression, and a terrible map screen that you can't scroll or zoom at all. Except if you open the pause menu, you've also had an EXP meter this entire time, and you have stat points to spend. It's still not clear to me what makes you gain experience. So maybe it's an RPG of some kind? But then you get to the third level in the game, and nope! It's Bomberman now for some reason. Just straight up Bomberman. And if you ever die after reaching a checkpoint, all of your upgrades reset, making retrying the stage [i]harder[/i] than beating it on the first attempt! Oh yeah. Also this game is porn. About every other level, you run into a female character who decides to have sex with your little chibi octopus, who has the power to turn into a human (with an inexplicably golden penis) when sufficiently aroused. It's not even particularly bad porn, it's pretty serviceable stuff if perhaps a bit uninspired. Except the sex is also gamified in the most baffling ways possible! When your character ♥♥♥♥, you get thrown into a little slot machine minigame to see if you impregnated her. Except instead of being random, this slot machine is both skill-based and incredibly difficult, for some reason—think trying to get a specific outcome on Chance Time in one of the N64 Mario Party games. When you inevitably fail to get any result in this minigame, you might try to re-enter the level and have sex with the female character again. Except this time, you realize that your character's ♥♥♥ is a [i]limited resource[/i]. If you fail this minigame, you have to go and [i]find more ♥♥♥[/i] to even get a [i]chance[/i] at doing it again. Except you can't even do this until you get to the [i]second[/i] sex scene—where the game decides to tutorialize you on these mechanics after it already showed them to you, completely unexplained, just a level earlier!!! By the end of writing this review, I think I've settled on a verdict of "Not Recommended." After all, if you're buying this game for the normal reasons someone buys an H-game—to have fun or to jerk off—you will not have a very good time. However, I do think this game has some value to people who like to play bad games in order to understand what makes good games work. If that's you, maybe pick it up on sale, I dunno.

Abandoned game
I played the itch.io version at I loved it bought the game because I thought bugs would be fixed, I start the game and they've changed everything. It went from a peaceful game to a shooter game. truly terrible
This Game is so good that you will finish wanting more. The variation of gameplay surprised me, when i reached the first boss level and see that bomberman mechanics, implemented that great, my eyes start to shine with nostalgia, and i want more. This game have Hentai(+18) Scenes after finishing some difficult levels, but the thing is, it's not just a hentai like many others you see in steam, to get to the hentai scenes, you will need to beat some difficult and funny levels to reach it, and when you reach it, that scene works like big reward, because you needed to beat all that levels to reach it. About the pixel art of the game, every sprite and animation are awessomelly beautiful and good made, specially the hentai animations who are insane, that needed very much of study and passion for pixel art to reach that level of animations. If i do recommend this game? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of course i do, don't you see? Go buy it!!!
Game is abandoned, Developer went on to focus on being a femboy. Don't bother buying this game. Its not worth the money.

Poderia ser um bom jogo, mas infelizmente o(a) dev parece que abandonou o jogo, porém continua dizendo que ainda ta trabalhando em uma att, o que parece ser mentira já que ele diz que a atualização está perto já faz 2 anos e ela nunca vem. Então realmente poderia ser um bom jogo, se o(a) dev não fosse incompetente
完整版应该会是挺不错的。 但是不仅不完整，甚至只有一个Demo。 跑路的游戏我见的多了，但是这个游戏没有，单纯不给steam版更新而已，在别的平台都V1.155了。
