Good little game. Short, sweet and to the point. It would be ideal for kids who're getting into games.
"The Princess's Dragon" is a student project from DigiPen. One of the first things students should be taught in game development is that 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid 1990's with dedicated 3D cards like the Voodoo3 and the ATI Rage. But the students were deliberately mistaught that's it's okay to release obsolete 2D games in the 3D era of gaming... certainly any professional developer seeing a prospective new hire who doesn't even know about 3D gaming probably isn't going to give them a job. Needless to say if an educational institution taught me incorrectly on purpose, I'd ask for my money back. We also have to question what value there is for gamers on Steam when institutions flood the store with low quality 2D video game homework assignments... sure, it might make the students feel good about themselves, but this has no benefit for gamers who have to wade through this stuff to find professionally made 3D games. So this is a rather poorly made JRPG that covers a princess cursed by a magical sword, forcing you to traverse a dragon's dungeon to reverse the curse. Gameplay involves traversing three dungeon levels, engaging in turn-based combat against only eight unique monsters.... talk about aiming low for a JRPG. The only interesting part about this is the students seem to have spent a lot of time in Unity slapping together something that could have been done in half an hour with RPG Maker... and this looks identical to an RPG Maker asset flip anyway. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. On pricing, this is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.

I just didn't like this one. It had a few things going for it: it was pretty short. it was pretty cute, and it was pretty easy. I liked the pixel art, at least the in-combat art, and I actually did like the story for the most part, the ending was sweet. The real issue is the fact that the game... just kind of sucks. I said that it was easy, and oh boy do I mean that. I'm not even sure if you can fail the game, the few times that I died, I just respawned with full health and mana, and kept right on going. The whole thing is EXTREMELY basic, from the story, to the presentation, to the combat. You don't level up or earn xp, there are only a couple of upgrades that you find along the way. It was underwhelming from start to finish, besides the positives that I mentioned earlier. I know that this is a student game, and that I shouldn't be too harsh here, but I just didn't enjoy playing this, and I was very happy when it was over before I had even played 20 minutes. I'll give it some points for heart. 3, maybe a 4 out of 10 for the ending.
Well made art and mechanics met with, unfortunately, a horrible story telling but it is acceptable as it is nothing but a student project after all. It will remain in my library for family and friends' toddlers to spend time with. Good luck in your careers!
Lanetli kılıcın üzerinize bıraktığı laneti tersine çevirmeye çalışırken ejderhanın dolambaçlı zindanını geçin.
pretty cool
Quick and fun little game
Cute and short game, with a little twist at the end. Althoug simple in it's writing, the gameplay was enjoyable and it was generally a good experiance
👍
It's a pretty short and lackluster game, but for a student project, I actually think it's pretty good. The design is very cute and appealing, but it's often repeating nature gets boring pretty quickly, so I actually like this game more with it's shortness. Overall, an OK game for a normal game, but a good game for a student project! Also, was not expecting the ending. At all.
