The game itself is genuinely fun. I made it to MT8 and enjoyed the core gameplay. But everything surrounding it is an exercise in frustration. The systems are needlessly opaque, and the tutorials exist in name only. They walk you through the motions without explaining the logic behind anything. You'll spend more time confused than playing. At random waves, I started dying instantly with no explanation. No warning, no feedback, no indication of what went wrong. I turned to Discord for answers and got nothing useful. That single issue alone soured the entire experience. The community is no rescue regardless. Ask a question in chat and you'll be pointed to Discord's pinned topics, a sprawling, disorganized archive you have to excavate just to find a partial answer that may still not make sense without context you don't have yet. It's a game that punishes curiosity rather than rewarding it. Your time is better spent elsewhere.
I just finished this game. dind't take to long. I regret not watching my child grow up but there was a tower to perfect sooo..... worth it.

Very deep for an Idler and Tower Defense. Lots of side activities. Huge amount of build crafting of modules. I weirdly enjoyed the Factory and Laboratory. There's a nice variety of goals to achieve. A lot of the game encourages experimentation instead of outright telling you what to do. Discord users are active and helpful. Wiki is detailed without giving away some spoilers. The AI is amazing for customizability, but too complex for most users. Several side activities basically require an AI script to be tolerable, the Adventure in particular. The automatic Workers fixes a lot of friction with systems like the Jumble, Lucky Wheel, Asteroids, Shipyard, and Trade offers to name a few. Adventure has potential but it is far too tedious.
has microtransactions
Good thing this game is free, because its mechanics are poorly documented and poorly explained. It's a requirement to join their Discord to get any real explanations from the community on most of the game's features and mechanics. Add to that, its "puzzles" are referenced only on its poorly maintained community wiki, not in-game. You'll find them only accidentally by stumbling upon them, unless you happen to get help from someone in the community. But good luck there, as many of the people in the know act as gatekeepers to these puzzles, refusing to provide much in the way of help apart from vague hints. Woe unto you if you happen to make a forum post talking about these secrets, as you'll get a number of people informing you that you're violating some sort of covenant that you automatically joined merely by playing the game.
this game sucks
Wiki/guide/import-slop. Gameplay distills out to webpages and discord, worse and worse the later you get.
you will get addicted
The first half of the game is pretty fun. You upgrade your tower, unlock different modules, and put together different loadouts to kill as many enemies as possible. However after a while, the progression slows down significantly, to the point where either you have to rely heavily on idle rewards to progress, or the intended way of progression is so vague that no matter what you try, progress seems impossible. If the in-game tutorial was updated to specify exactly how to progress, then i would definitely recommend it whether or not the intended progression was as tedious as it seems. However, with the state its in, the tutorial is not enough to help in any meaningful way, especially past era 1.
Me like big number. Big number good. Praise the almighty Cubos!
