About
The untamed wilderness of Alaska is beautiful, cold, and unforgiving. As a high-profile fugitive on the run, this desolate landscape is your only hiding spot, with your dog as your sole companion. But in these woods, the peaceful silence is a lie. The environment is not just your hideaway—it is the hunting ground for something that belongs here more than you do.
"The Pale Mimic" is not an infinite survival game; it is a linear, narrative-driven horror experience with a definitive beginning and end.
Your cabin is your only refuge, but safety is an illusion. On most days the core of your existence is hunting large game just to survive a little longer, with only brief respite at the cabin to plan your next move. On other days, the forest will have unexpected surprises for you.
When outside, the hunt begins.
When food runs low, you must venture into the frozen forests, where your dog is your guide and key to tracking anything. What starts as a simple hunt for game quickly turns into a struggle for survival. You will track, kill, and butcher large game, but this process is far from easy. As you stalk your prey, something is watching. Keep your wits about you, lest the hunter become the hunted.
You must bring the meat back to survive, but the creature is waiting for you to turn your back on the woods. It is fast, strong, and relies on a terrifying form of mimicry to lure you out. As a stalker, it prefers to avoid direct confrontation. It might mimic your dog’s whine to make you open the door, the sound of prey to trick you, or a familiar voice to lure you into a trap. Out here in the middle of nowhere, imitation is the highest form of horror.

Loved this short but scary horror experience, even though the monster was not really scary, but the screams it made sent chills down my spine and made me jump almost every time, the dog actually made me feel safe and not alone, gave me comfort, like the cabin that was pretty cozy but still felt like i was trapped in there when the monster was right outside the door, was worth the money for sure
I rate this game a 7/10, well worth the low price if you're looking for a good light horror game. If you're looking for something game changing or revolutionary, then this really isn't the place to look for it. It's just good execution on an old concept. The story was concise and the game was (for the most part) bug free with the given exceptions of things like rocky often pathing directly in your way in narrow spots and causing you two to collide in weird ways. The graphics are easy on the pc while staying clear and minimally buggy with some general surface reflections and things of the sorts being funky. The music is good, and the slow burn tension is done excellently. The ui for some things like the map and the gun are overall very simple and easy to use. Now for the problems, which are few, but do affect the gameplay somewhat. For starters, the cuts between audio loops are very obvious, especially regarding ambient sounds. It's obvious that the dev's didn't intend for certain things to take as long as I may have taken to do them, but still, the audio of things like the forest ambience cutting out for upwards of a full second before starting over was often jarring and would take me out of the immersion. The audio balancing was very rough around the edges with the creature often being overwhelmingly loud to the point of me needing to take off my headphones despite, in other sequences, me needing to crank my volume up to hear certain character dialogue. In all, great quick game, very fun, very simple, and creative!

It's fun, some oversights in the game like there is no real danger when you're out and about except a few scripted sequences.
thank you for making this game <3
Pretty decent and somewhat relaxing horror game. Narrative was interesting and I really loved spending time with rocky in the wilderness. Cons would be that some of the animations are pretty janky and the creature isn't that scary visually. That being said there's definitely creepy moments and a few decent jump scares. Also it's pretty easy to 100% if that matters. Worth the price imho
Kein schlechtes Game! Die Atmosphäre ist gut und die Story funktioniert. Ein gutes, kurzweiliges Horror-Game ohne Splatter - genau mein Geschmack!
Atmosphere was fantastic, well built tension that leads to fear fueled interactions. Absolutely worth a second playthrough if you enjoy getting that one hundred percent. Charming to be sure and there's one or two quality background / blink and you miss it moments that definitely make the atmosphere much scarier if seen, though don't change that! observation is key for these kinds of games. I had a lot of fun and would definitely recommend to friends. Only issue with this game is that the finale feels a little too heroic and less panic for survival, but the idea is there for sure. None the less, for a two playthrough experience I had a ton of fun and want the developer to keep making games in this vein you have a talent for it to be sure! Keep up the good work, you have a bright future ahead!
Great game! Hidden gem!
i love rocky
This game is really fun. Every time I venture out, there’s always something to be excited and nervous about. The way it creates obstacles and survival challenges in each section of the game is really creative. Overall, it’s a great game, and definitely worth the price and the wait for its release. It also made me think about my dog that passed away from an illness. My dog looked a lot like the Thai mountain dogs.
