The Mage's Tale

This game runs like complete garbage. I booted up multiple times to be greeted with silence, with no way to get it to work. Every other VR title I have works fine, but this one is as silent as the grave. It also controls like a lumbering corpse falling into its casket. The menu options for Free Move required a lot of messing around and closing/reopening the game to work, the Free Look just never worked right or maybe it's how the game BINDs the left joypad to menu options in game. Its exceedingly clunky and far better handled by other games. I got this for 5$ and I feel like THAT is too much. Does not hold up.

Schöne Story, abwechslungsreiche Level, verschiedenartige Feinde, lange Spielzeit mit Kämpfen und Rätseln. Das Spiel hebt sich aus der Masse der vielen auch nicht so guten VR-Games auf jeden Fall positiv hervor.

READ BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!!! I really like this game. However, I got stuck in a wall when the game reloaded in the cavern in the beginning so I started a new game. I then got stuck in the wall right before you fight the golem and I had to start a new game. Tonight I got stuck in the wall on the last level of the game this time I’m not starting a new game. three games is enough! I would’ve loved to win the game had it been operational. Play at your own risk!!!!

I recommend with a bit of a caveat. The game is well polished and the Bard's Tale style dialogue keeps you engaged. The grid-like movement is also reminiscent of old school dungeon crawlers, and I initially liked it, but I wish the level layout made better use of it. I felt like I was fighting with the controls to get up winding stairs and there were interactable objects that just didn't line up with the grid properly and I was forced to lean in at awkward angles to reach them. Finally the magic. Well it works. But it's kind of awkward. Some spells require you to do throw or javelin throw like motions, but the trajectory seems to be determined by the angle of our controller when you let go, and it shoots off at a constant speed without any regard to physics. So it feels a bit more "gamey", and less athletic than I would like. Other than that the levels are well structured, and it appears to have an engaging story progression, so give it a go if the above issues don't bother you.

Un très bon jeu rpg en vr. pour être honnête, je l avais sur l oculus rift mais quand celui-ci a rendu l âme, je me suis acheté un HTC Vive Cosmos. Mais J ai un problème* avec ce casque et ce jeu en particulier. en fait, je sais avancer, reculer et faire straffer le personnage mais pour faire des rotations sur sois-même je dois appuyer sur le stick droit a gauche ou a droite MAIS , tout en appuyant sur le bouton du stick droit. :( Ce qui est fastidieux a la longue , je n ai pas trouvé de profil steam compatible avec mon casque qui pourrait régler le problème. Donc je me tourne vers les développeur , ou toute personne qui pourrait aussi m aider. Merci * Problème Résolu!

I wasn't sure about this one. I had it on my wish list for a while and when it went on sale I purchased it. Wow, lucky me, what a great game this turned out to be. I am getting totally immersed in this dungeon crawler. The puzzles remind me of escape rooms. You have to solve the puzzle before you can advance to the next area. I like the puzzles, not to easy, not too hard. Some of them are very intuitive. Just remain calm and think through it. You should constantly tweak your magic with the things you find (especially +Damage and Blind). This will enable you to take on all of the enemy’s with ease. I especially like the Lightning Bolt spell, boosted with +Damage and Blind. Good graphics, creepy ambiance. Also, I am not experiencing the control problems that others refer to in their reviews. The companion is not that annoying (I must have thicker skin), sometimes he is very funny. I am using HTC VIVE. I would recommend this game.

Game does not load beyond 12 seconds on current hardware at all. Developers fundamentally have abandoned all support. Do not give them your money in any context. They do not deserve it for a product they will not support on an emergent technology.

This is really well done. A few bugs but not bad at all. 8/10

cant go more than 30 seconds without it crashing. doesn't seem to work on any newer hardware
