About

Key Features:
Three different classes of puzzles: digital, analog, and quantum
Optional levels of puzzle hints
A beautiful original soundtrack
Mysterious locations to explore and hidden secrets to discover
The Long Gate is a challenging and beautiful single-player, first-person, puzzle game. On a mission from the enigmatic creators of this place, you will explore ancient caverns filled with mysterious devices and traverse relaxing oases of nature while learning to solve the three primary types of puzzles that wind through them. Repair the ancient circuits and unravel the mystery of what happened to their creators.
Nearly all The Long Gate’s puzzles are based on real world technologies, and it contains accurate depictions of quantum circuits and a 4-bit quantum computer, verified by scientists at D-Wave Systems, the world’s first commercial quantum computer company. To progress through the game, you will learn the basic principles that form the backbones of each puzzle type. You do not need a technical background to finish the game, but if you have an interest in any STEM field these puzzles will be particularly interesting to you.
Levels and many puzzles can be completed in any order and many have more than a single possible solution for you to discover, and mastering a circuit type will provide keys to new areas and secrets. If you ever get stuck on a puzzle you can explore somewhere else, then come back later, or you can open the settings menu and turn on the hints.
The Long Gate also features an original soundtrack by musician Nick Newman.

A hard puzzle game, which feels a great sense of accomplishment after solving those puzzles. Hope for more contents later.

I totally dig the atmosphere. The graphics design is very nice, reminds me faintly of Portal 2. With that kind of low fidelity geometry however, the game has no excuse for being so damn LAGGY. The frame stutter alone makes it somewhat uncomfortable to play, but then the logic puzzles decide to snap elements to a grid by applying a dastardly unpredictable force to the first person camera. The result is a constant feeling of some moron jerking my mouse around. It gave me wrist cramps within half an hour. The puzzles themselves are plain old Boolean logic, and consequently did not have one interesting moment in the the three hours I spent in the game. Maybe it gets better later, but the premise did not seem promising.
Like many other reviewers, I'd like to add I am a programmer, and understand a decent bit of electric components. That may not be a requirement to get through this game, but it sure as heck made it a lot easier. With that knowledge, I certainly enjoyed solving all the puzzles. That said I do have one pretty big "complaint" about the game that may ruin it for some: there's a lot of walking and waiting involved. Locations are large, walking to a puzzle will take a while. There's one massive and some smaller elevators in the game, and they take a long time to get where you want to go (especially the big one). Using your instrument to interact with inputs plays a lengthy unskippable animation. Even some rooms and interactions lock you in place and control your camera for a bit, sometimes repeatedly if you re-enter the room. Most of your time might not be spent solving puzzles, and if you have "goopy goblin gamerbrain" as some people put it this may very well ruin the experience for you even if you love puzzles. It didn't quite do that for me, but it got close, and if you don't understand things at all moving back and forth trying to understand things will massively exacerbate the problem. That said if you don't mind that, it's a great puzzle game.
I hoped I would enjoy this game more than I did. While I admittedly only reached the first major area I think this 3D, almost FPS, way of presenting logic gate puzzles didn't clutch that well with the idea of a logic gate puzzle game. The puzzles themselves were enjoyable enough but I felt that the gameplay limited my enjoyment of the puzzles rather than added to them. I'll fully admit this may get better later on in the game but from how long I got into the game, it didn't seem worthwhile continuing for me.
A VERY slow and VERY technical game. Way too much walking in my opinion.
It's a puzzle game based on computer science concepts. I consider it more challenging than the average based on other puzzle games I have played. If you like puzzle games there is no reason not to try this one out.
