In a galaxy far far away, there was a collection of helmets. Some were stronger than others, some were smaller and some were bigger, but all helmets had a purpose - to protect their space-human and allow them to breath outside of the Universe.

Short and FREE 2D platformer Pretty simple and easy with maybe few little more challenging levels but if you want easy game to 100% this is it also dev was active and fast to implement achievement fix so +rep for that

Originally a $0.99 game that went Free. Strange save system where you have to complete the level after to save progress for completing the level before. For example, if you completed level 10 and now are on level 11 and you decided to save and quit you can't start on level 11 when you come back, you have to play through level 10 again to get to level 11. Ran into a couple of times collisions worked inconsistently. For example, one enemy (rolling side spike machine) wasn't possible to jump on, the player sprite would just fall through. Don't know if it was an intentional troll or was just bugged. The calm music and precision platforming didn't mix well with me and I found it boring.

A fun and silly game platformer game where you play as an astronaut helmet. Too bad the developer plans to delist it. I'd say even if it weren't going to receive updates and tech support going forward that the developer should still keep it available. It's a free game, I doubt anyone cares about how buggy it might be 40 years from now or whatever. Art is art and this game should not become lost media for such a trivial reason.
The Lonely Helmet is a charming, but at times difficult, platforming video game by developer Laim McKenzie. Twenty levels with various puzzles, secrets, and challenges make this an enjoyable experience for anyone who likes some difficulty in their games. A range of customization options (helmets) are also present, which can be unlocked as rewards for collecting as many stars as you can. Anyone who is a fan of titles like Super Meat Boy will without a doubt enjoy this video game; it's a good time!
If you hate yourself that much give this game a shot
Pretty good game so far however some of the levels are pretty tough and it takes a while to figure out. I think that the art style is cool and music fits well although I feel some of the sound effects such as the collection noise for the stars could be improved. There are some bugs in the game although I am pretty sure you are aware of them but other than that it is a pretty solid experience.
"The Lonely Helmet" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is an incredibly badly done platformer where you take on the role of a helmet... because, I guess doing sprite animation is too hard for some developers or something. So yeah, you control a helmet jumping around (somehow) across 20 poorly done minimalist pixelcrap platformer levels. There's skins, which makes me wonder why the developer wasted time doing that instead of learning how to animate stuff. But asking too many questions about failed Itch garbage on Steam is hardly productive... it's self evident why this was such a failure. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. Itch has one job, and it's not a hard job, but they failed again... to keep amateur stuff in their weird hugbox where everyone claps and says "Good job!!!" at every bit of amateur drivel (which nobody actually plays) and away from gamers. Unfortunately this has leaked out onto Steam platforms and now gamers have to put up with yet another bit of poorly made amateur shovelware. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $1 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? What's the verdict? Pass on this one. There's no immediate financial commitment, but there are thousands of more compelling games on the platform that will give you a lot more enjoyment for your time.
