The Lone Blade is a 3D platformer where you are a soul trapped in a sword. In order to redeem yourself, you will have to create your own path: jump, dash, spin, or spike to the ground and walls to go through the deserts and climb canyons, and temples... to the highest mountain.

Enjoy the inconvenience or not, during the challenging experience. Especially suitable for the masochist. 不自由さを楽しむかそうでないか、全ては君次第。一本の剣となって、限られたアクションを駆使して先に進もう。Mな人に最適。 Mini-video >> https://twitter.com/hhfcurator/status/1678416076500094976
I like the concept of this game but I hate how it is executed. The level design and the control philosophy are in a huge conflict with one another. It is frustrating and not fun to drag yourself through as it is more punishing than satisfying. The buggy collision detection and inconsistency of it all makes it for a very low fun factor and there are game breaking errors in it. I stopped because I fell down a level and got reset to a point that took me an hour to get past and I will never try to play this again as a result. This would have been way better if it was a more open experience based on physics like Skate or Rocket League, or something that focused on fluid movement as opposed to whatever this was meant to be. The Lone Blade is a game that demands skills from the players. Getting over it enjoyers will probably love this game! From my side I found the main character mechanics innovant and unique. They provide a real sense of accomplishement once a level is completed, mostly since the entire game is very hard. Special mention to the bouncing pommel mechanic that adds a cool move that speedrunners would probably master to break their records. Narrative and Artistic aspects got their own charm in particular the musics that accompanied our progresses, and the narrator with his deep voice lines. Good idea to capitalize on him with the feedbacks of the collectibles. Some assets are intresting and serve well the story. I found it sad that I couldn't explore my environment since the blade is always pushing you to go forward. On the other side, some aspects serves badly this adventure : - The lack of feedbacks can lead to a harder walkthrough for the players. It's the case on the sword but also on the Level Design elements and the bosses you can encounter. "The Son"'s wind capacity was very tough to prevent since it only made a feedback once your character can be throw back by it. - Moreover it was sometime hard to understand where I had to go next, or what I had to do near the end of a level. As I said the always goind forward aspect, reduce this feeling but is not always there to help the players. Some markers are contextual hints would have been appreciated. - And for my last point and probably the one that pushed me to my deepest frustration moments. In some levels I found myself completly lost due to areas in dark. Areas that were platorming section, on which some lights would have eased my progression. Shadowy levels could have been a very good idea but a glowing light on the sword that illuminated the environment around it would have been mandatory. To summarize, I found very interesting ideas in this game (I forgot to mention the two swords to manage at the same time <3 ), and some art aspects that are trully cool. But an attention to the details is really needed to create a game which is not so frustrating for the players. Hope this helps you for your upcoming projects!
At first, I was especially eager to discover the lore and environment design. I really enjoy storytelling through concept art and The Lone Blade got me super satisfied with its capacity to provide a sense of mystery through this lost civilization-looking scenery, which made me super curious to finish the game and gather all of the collectibles. For those who are usually more attracted by the gameplay itself, I'd say that The Lone Blade is definitely a must-have. The game is hard indeed, the commands take time to get along with but it is definitely super worth it because the difficulty is exactly what makes the game super entertaining. It gives one the will to retry, to overcome one's capacities and to make progress while discovering more and more about the lore - since the lore and the gameplay are strongly related. So, if you like challenging games with a rich lore and beautiful scenery, I can't stress enough how much you need to give it a try!
At first I thought I'd get my money back because I thought that controlling that blade is going to frustrate me too much, but once you get used to it, it is a lot of fun.
Finally a challenge game that respects you, with an artistic direction that could recall a journey, music that smells of hot desert sands. The difficulty and the challenges are present but without ever making the player the joke of the developers. The checkpoints are fair and the idea of having integrated bosses is great. A very good game if you love the challenges! Finally a challenge game that respects you, with an artistic direction that could recall a journey, music that smells of hot desert sands. A very good game if you love the challenges!
Great game, not the kind of game I usually play, but the mechanics are very interesting once you get used to them!
This game is crazy hard. If you want a challenge, play this game. Not only is the mechanics insanely weird, the environment and enemies make it even harder to progress.
