‘The Kind Camomille’, is a relaxing experience, perfect for winding down after a hard day. You take control of the titular character, a mouse on her way to visit her grandmother for her 100th birthday. The plot bears a passing resemblance to the Little Red Riding Hood fairy-tale, and Camomille carries a food basket, but there are no wolves here. Only friendly animals inhabit the island, most tend to have lost something and require your help. And this forms the crux of the gameplay. The fetch quests are all very simple, but keep you busy on your way to meet Granny at the very top of the island. ‘The Kind Camomille’ takes inspiration from fellow indie adventure ‘A Short Hike’ and has a similar aesthetic, world design and character move set. You obtain a glider from an early quest, allowing you to soar around the island and reach otherwise inaccessible places. You can also get a bug net for catching butterflies, and a fishing rod to catch fish. It’s short experience and can be completed in a couple of hours – but it’ll take much longer if you want to do everything and get all of the achievements. There’s no death, no threats, no timers, no pressure; just explore at your leisure. It’s as wholesome as it comes! Like sipping your favourite tea, The Kind Camomille is a game that will put a smile on your face and make you feel all warm and cozy inside. It’s available now on the PC by way of Steam.
Cute little game - lovely gentle music and pets to follow you around. Still has some kinks around saving/reloading, but all in all, great work from a indie developer.
My play of the game here: https://youtu.be/52xCVMQqQKg I can't recommend this game it's too glitchy and honestly had me question my ability to progress from things just not working in the game. I could not talk to the fortune teller, I found the brothers they would not allow me to accept their quest/complete it, achievements would not pop even though the thing for them had been fulfilled, I honestly could not find the glider for the life of me/owl baby, there's a book that I'm unable to read at the top with the brother in question. The game doesn't really excel in anything each character has two lines of dialogue so I can't really get immersed in the world, the game is basically just continuous gopher quests. There's not much gameplay to be had and there's no real story either. I think the one positive was cosmetically changing my mouse to be honest. Definitely not worth the $6.99 even on sale in my opinion. Hopefully others had a better less glitchy experience.
The game is lacking in many aspects. It is a beautiful game visually and audibly but the actual gameplay and UI needs work. The game doesn't really have a story because each character you interact with only says one or two lines so it doesn't feel immersive. The overall game is just a fetch quest with very little puzzle aspects, other than finding the items needed. Overall improvements that are needed to make the game more playable. -It needs a tutorial. Even though this game is an exploration game for most of it I was just super confused as to what I was doing and where I needed to go. This got quiet frustrating as well. -- Not being able to collect items before you get the quests is quiet bothersome. This could be an easy fix but having "found items" show up on the map so that they can be collected later when the quest is started and you don't have to run around trying to find them again. -It needs a quest log or tracker of some sort so you can see what each of the characters you talk to need. As well as to show what you have completed. I do like the touch that once the characters quest is done they go and visit grandma. -The map needs to be labelled and be able to zoom in on your location or various locations around the map. --Characters you have found should be labelled on the map. --Characters items you need to collect should be linked to the character in either the map or a quest log. --The mouse you play should be visible on the map as well (I noticed in areas that the yellow arrow that is meant to be me disappears) The glitches. -Saving and exiting out of the game removes items from your game. Such as: --The cat pet --The bug net --The completed staircase built by the raccoon character with the hard hat disappears and cant be rebuilt -Cant talk to the fortune teller character -Words the characters speak to my mouse are all bunched up so I cant read them --Font size is also really small for everyone but grandma -Cant read the monument after pressing E --The achievements not working for: ---Welcome to the Island ---Glider Acquired ---Go Fish ---Bug Catching ---Traveller ---Pigglets Friend ---Mr Grey Dogs Friend ---Fisherman --- Happy Birthday ---The End? -The map needs work, you can't see yourself in areas. Other things that I just in general found confusing. --The whale watching girl doesn't have an actual quest? Or is it just to go and talk to her father? -Cant get the cable car to work? Honestly not even sure if this is something that should be able to get working either. I backed this on Kickstarter and was super excited to see the game be released early but I don't think the game was ready for release yet as there are many problems that could have been stamped out before release. Overall I am rather disappointed in the game and give it a 4/10, the art and music are beautiful and I think the game will improve when the bugs are fixed which will hopefully improve my score. As the game currently is I would not recommend it to other people as it feels incomplete, however when the bugs get fixed, which hopefully will be soon I think I would recommenced it to people who want something beautiful to play. Update 1: After stating a new game I have managed to get the achievements: Welcome to the Island, Bug Catching, Pigglets Friend, Mr Greys Dogs Friend and Fisherman.
The game is... sorta broken? So I played for a good hour, gotta couple quests done, and along the way I was able to hop up a mountain and go all the way to grandma's house without having to fix the loft at the beginning of the game. When I got to the house I spoke to grandma and I wasn't able to say no to finishing the game and celebrating her birthday- which sucked because doing so restarts the entire game and resets your save. Also when the credits finished it just kept scrolling over and over again. I couldn't go to the menu, skip, or even exit the game. Aside that, the game is gorgeous and music is lovely. I just think it wasn't ready for a full release yet :(
Relaxing game from a cool solo dev!
Great and beautiful little game! If you are looking for an action game go your way. If you are looking to relax, have a good time Kind Camomile is perfect for you. It is visually superb, the music is very pleasant, it is almost therapeutic :) thank you for this little jewel which deserves to be known. PS: I play with my 3 year old son from time to time he loves it
This is charming, relaxing game. It is based on kindness. The graphics are beautiful and the music score perfect for the game's theme. This is truly a delightful games for the whole family. Camomille is a mouse on her way to Grandma's birthday celebration on an island. During the boat trip Camomille's basket of goodies tip over into the water. Help her replace them with items by meeting and helping the island's inhabitants. Complete simple tasks the islanders request. Collect all the butterflies and catch all the fish to get the achievements. Pet the piglet, kitten, fox and squirrel that will follow you afterwards where ever you go on the island. Acquire a glider through an act of kindness and soar to the other smaller islands to discover what they have to help you on your journey. In the end celebrate with Grandma and the friends Camomille make through acts of kindness.
