The Kind Camomille is a beautiful game but has it's flaws. And therefore I can't recommend it at this point. The UI is buggy and some quests were bugged out for me as well. The story is pretty simple and there is a beautiful area to walk around in and talk with the characters on the island. As soon as the game started, I saw a guy with a backpack, where you can change your backpack appearance. The selection menu was bugged and only made me select a specific backpack, when I selected another one first. I couldn't click on it right away. Walking around felt kinda laggy. Even though I had a steady 120fps throughout the entire playthrough, Moving the camera around made animations look like they were capped at 30fps and camera movement became choppy. For instance the deers you find throughout the world. They ran around in a choppy 30fps and as soon as I stood still, they were smooth 60fps. Or at least it felt that way. The monument where all the names of the backers are on, was a nice touch. But since the UI was bugged, I couldn't see the entire list. And as someone who backed this project, I felt sad not being able to find my name on there. It could be because I play on an ultrawide monitor. But I couldn't change the resolution to see if that was the case. Felt like the UI scaled too much and was outside of my reach multiple times. At a certain point in the game, I couldn't progress with any of the quests anymore. Could be me, but after running 3 full circles around the island I couldn't find anything left to do. Might be because the game told me I got the fishing rod, but never actually had it in my inventory. So I couldn't progress on that quest and I didn't want to start over again. All in all, it's a good simple story and world. But it felt too buggy and rushed to get it out there. It missed the most important part of development. Polishing. So I sadly can't recommend it as of now sadly.
Similar game to A short hide, if you liked that one you will enjoy this one as well. Right now it has some bugs that may prevent enjoying the full experience but the developer is fixing them as I write the review, I know he'll fix them all, so I do recommend buying the game now since it's on sale as well.
This game has been abandoned. I wouldn't recommend purchasing it, and I kind of wish I didn't either. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I actually really liked the game the first time I played it. It's very peaceful and it was lovely to see my name in the Founders' Monument. But it is buggy as heck. For instance, when I came back after saving and quitting, I found that it had glitched out - meaning that quests that I had begun were no longer active and that even though I'd already got the butterfly net I didn't have it anymore and couldn't reacquire it. This means you'd have to play the game in one sitting without closing it (which is definitely achievable, I just didn't realise it was required). I don't think it is worth the price that it is listed for here unfortunately, and it pains me to say that as you can tell a lot of work and love went into this game. With a lot of bug fixes and improvements this game could have a lot of promise. Hope to see an update soon!
Relaxing and colourful game. Perfect to relax after a stressful day at work. Obviously it's not meant to be a game for players looking for a high skill level cap and hard challenges. Just play and chill while you listen to the cool music and the chirping birds. Well done !
One man machine
First of all I really like the idea/concept behind this game. After a first discovery of the world of Camomille I enjoyed his world, his inhabitants and the easy going pace of The Kind Camomille. At this point there are still some issues that need to be taken care of by the solo dev. But I like he's engaged in making this the best game it can be. So I guess you have two options at this point: play the game and help make it even more better by giving feedback or buy/follow this game and start playing when most issues are solved.
Beautiful, calm and cozy exploration. If you like A Short Hike, then you'll love The Kind Camomille!
A cute little game where helping others lets you aquire the items you need for your lost gift. The grapics are cute and simple. Sure we have been spoiled these days with high end games so for many it might be to simple. There is not much of a story line, just help others to get other items to help others to to fill your gift basket. True, it isn't a perfect game. There are some sections where you can get stuck if you miss the staircase. Jump or run to long and you stop running. That in some cases you can use A or E and other cases just E. No changing keymapping or keeping track of who you helped or what your current "tasks" are. Still, this is a nice relaxing game. For those that are yelling that each game should be perfect, this is made by a single person. There are games out there with large teams that are more of a buggy mess. And while some want to point out that I only played a short while before the review, I have spend plenty of time during development playing the demo. Just didn't have the time to play the full game.
