Greatly enjoyed this, and even while I feel the story ran out of steam a bit toward its conclusion, the story overall, alongside the impeccable voice acting and good writing, made for an extremely fun experience. I'm also impressed with the flexibility of the note system, not only just accessibility, but also formatting. It'll auto-create bulleted lists?? Really cool. Hmm, if only I could forget... to play this again.
holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, very cool
Meus amigos, que jogo! Só tenho a lhe dizer para dar uma chance ao jogo e se permitir mergulhar nesse mistério sensacional. Como eu queria mais! hahaha
Just like Case of the Golden Idol puts you in the role of Santa Clause having to figure out the mechanics of an Enemy Stand while he's filling out his list of naughty or nice, The Incident at Galley House puts you in the role of a hapless grad student trying to pay off student debt while using one SCP to discover the mechanics of a completely separate SCP. If you know what half of these words mean, buy the flipping game already
Well, what a wonderful, polished and enjoyably challenging mystery game this has been! I have been absolutely captivated trying to work out what sequence of dark events took place at Galley House and who participated in each of them. And, in a nutshell, that is the mechanic of the game: working out who was in a particular location at a particular time so that the scene there can be replayed and searched for clues to other earlier or later scenes. (A more textual version of this mechanic was used in another mystery game which I've played and enjoyed, The Red Pearls of Borneo.) The artwork and voice acting in this game are excellent, and the story is deep, dark, clever, and multi-layered. The game is in two parts: the investigation of the events at Galley House, and then a stepping back to look at the investigative process itself; it's impossible to say any more without risking spoiling the game for new players. Sometimes I got stuck, and I ended up watching (or reading) a number of scenes again and again trying to find links between them; but there are no unfair tricks here, and the clues are all available if you can recognise them... Many congratulations to the developers on producing such an excellent and absorbing mystery game.
This game makes you feel both smart and like an idiot. It's amazing.
It's not really a detective game, it's a puzzle game. There's a fair amount of exposition at the end. It's not bad, but I ended up using hints often because solving the puzzle was a bit boring after 5 hours. Yes, it's possible to solve the codes just by the dialog, but after a while there's a lot of dialog and it's just not worth the time to pour over every word. I'd recommend using the note tab to keep track of where they say they came from, where they're going, and who they saw go where. It's not super useful for anything else. There is never a test or a "putting the clues together" or anything. the whole game plays like a visual novel that you need codes for. It's really well made, and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves puzzle games and cool twists and concepts. I personally figured out the "twist" fairly early on and
was just waiting for either how it started or how it ends. They never explain the start of the disease
I wished for some variety in game play,
or maybe a part where we solve the case
ever since i started playing my mind has been chewing on this game like a dog toy. i love it
