Fun game with excellent graphics and effects!
I've played Guardian Stone now 25 hours and I have reached the current end game. I've only played as single player and had lots of fun. At the moment, after ''completing'' the game that's being constantly updated and getting more stuff added to it, I can say that it's worth every penny and I really suggest you to give it a shot. Yes it has a lot bugs and has its flaws, but it's getting updated fast and developer is really listening what players suggest and not just doing what dev wants. Gameplay is simple: you spawn in tavern, you go to mission board, choose mission and difficulty, choose the traps that you use in mission, open few chest to get starting money, use the money to buy traps and place them how you please, start wave, fight mobs, lose and start again/win and get loot&money, upgrade traps and/or change trap layout, put on your new items if you got something, start new wave and repeat. After completing every wave in mission you get end reward in chest near guardian stone, open it and get loot. You keep the items that you got in missions and can build your own playstyle ( dual wield/2h/bow/shield&1h ) and choose where to put your perk points. Harder difficulty drops more rare and better items & pets. In tavern there's storage chest where you can store your items and a bartender that has achievable mounts that you can use to move faster and look cooler. There's a blacksmith that you can use to improve your items. You can also go in arena from there for pvp, but I've not played with anyone so I don't know how it works. This is 10/10 game with constant updates and listening developer, so I highly suggest you to try it. Edit: It's been 7 months since I last played GS and looks like it's been abandoned by the developer (for now at least). There's no activity in Discord and last update was last year without any reaction from community, so it's highly possible that Warren (dev) has lost interest in developing this game. This is only my guess, not a fact!! It's sad because this game had lots of potential and I hope GS will get more love in the future. I still recommend you to try this game! Edit 2: I asked month ago directly from dev what's the future for the Guardian stone and there's no response. I don't want to recommend unfinished game with no future and radio silence from developer.
I like the idea it's going for, but it but feels like an alpha version at the moment. Ignoring available content, I would rate the gameplay/progression systems in place 4/10. I'll give it another try at some point and update my review, if things change.
Summary
At the core it's a tower defense game (not adventure or aRPG as tags might lead you to believe). It's comparable to Dungeon Defenders, Orc Must Die and few others. It feels VERY early in development. It looks fine visually and it trap building (mechanic) could pass as complete. Combat, UI, progression and even traps themselves feel like something that got whipped up in about 2 weeks by 1 experienced developer. If you want to see OR invest into a project early in development - go for it. Don't buy this expecting a semi-complete game to play.
Combat(3/10)
You can use your character to fight, but combat is the so clunky. Everything in combat feel slow, floaty and delayed (not unlike an action MMO with ~1000 ping). It's not the case with building and looting. The moment I got a ranged weapon I stopped moving and using melee. Ranged attacks are also delayed, but at least I don't have to dodge attacks with that delay. There are a couple of pretty basic weapon types (which is fine for a tower defense), but neither of them stood out. Melee is slower than souls-likes and ranged weapons feels bad due to delay that affects all actions.
Progression(3/10)
RPG of the might aswell not exist at the moment. It's very plain and only gates gameplay progression behind grind without adding anything.

Item scaling is linear, and random stats are the boring +damage, + defense, + HP and such. Items only gate content at the moment as they help you beat early levels (ones you won't want to play) easy, but not having those items forces you to grind to tackle higher level content.
Character stats only increase stamina/HP OR damage for 1 weapon type. This means the only purpose of these stats is locking you into 1 weapon.
Character talents are the usual uninspired +5% damage, +5% Crit chance and such.
Defensive structures are very basic (at least everything I got to see) and they are ALSO locked behind levels.
I would give progression 2/10, but this game offers cosmetic unlocks for achievements, which is the one form of progression I feel fits.
This Game is awesome, Tons of Potential! Only downside is the bugs, but to be expected in early development. I really hope to see this game thrive.
Good concept and had potential but is abandonware.
Very simple and fun. I got a skeleton pet, life is good
Very fun game, just keep in mind it's really early in dev. I'd like to see a way to respec your character and for there to be a way to do actual builds. The talent tree is so small it's kind of pointless. But again, I'm sure the game will evolve as it gets further in development.
Super fun game, personally I love tower defense games and I'm amazed this is made by a solo dev, the combat is fluid and fun, animations are sick, there is a nice feedback when you hit enemies, the guards tower is very intuitive and creative tool, I feel this title and dev are definitely worth supporting, I can't wait to see what else Warren will bring, keep up the great work !!
Good game, cant figure out how to roll to save my life.
