The Falling Star is a first-person exploration and narrative-driven walking simulator. Following the mother's last wish, the girl embarks on a journey in a dream to uncover the story of her missing aunt’s past.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.
About
The Falling Star is a short, atmospheric first-person narrative adventure set in a fragmented dreamscape. You play as a young girl, journeying through a surreal memory world shaped by grief, love, and unanswered questions. After your mother’s passing, you follow her final wish—to uncover the truth behind your missing Aunt Jiang, and in doing so, begin to understand the family stories left unspoken.

Designed to be completed in around 20–30 minutes, The Falling Star offers a focused, emotionally resonant experience. Perfect for players who enjoy introspective storytelling and atmospheric exploration.
Wander through beautifully crafted environments that blur the line between memory and imagination. From quiet bedrooms to abandoned factories and the remains of a once-bustling town, each area reflects pieces of the past waiting to be pieced together.

Uncover clues hidden in the world—handwritten notes, old objects, and family relics. Light puzzle-solving is used to guide your journey and encourage thoughtful exploration.
Instead of lengthy cutscenes, the narrative unfolds through environmental storytelling. Examine everyday items and listen to the protagonist’s inner thoughts as she reflects on her family’s history.
Accompanied by original gentle music and ambient sound design, the experience invites players to slow down, feel, and remember.

If you appreciate narrative-driven games like What Remains of Edith Finch, Gone Home, or To the Moon, The Falling Star offers a similarly heartfelt tale in a compact and accessible format.
No combat. No time limits. Just you, your memories, and the stars.
Chase the star, while you still can.

honestly too short of a game for how beautiful it is graphically and mentally. if you have 20-30 minutes and want a very short but very deep game, this is the one for you, and this is coming from a person who doesn't normally like story games.

The Falling FPS (a nauseating 10-15 FPS it felt like). No in-game graphics settings to mess with. Otherwise, it seemed good until I clicked something which progressed the story before I was done exploring fully. Annoying. I clicked the map hoping I could just return there but it actually sent me back to that level and my patience had reached it's limit. YMMV. 🙁
'The Falling Star' is a first person exploration, narrative driven walking simulator. It features a dreamlike journey in which the protagonist uncovers the story behind her missing aunt’s past, with atmospheric environments, a meditative soundscape, light environmental puzzles, and 6 Steam achievements. The game took me about 40 minutes to complete, including unlocking all achievements, and it delivers a relaxing and enjoyable experience despite its short length. As a free title, it offers a single ending and does not include a save feature. The simplicity of the gameplay makes it accessible to players of all skill levels, with clear guidance and a straightforward objective: uncover the truth behind your missing Aunt Jiang and begin to understand the family stories left unspoken. I would rate the difficulty as 1 out of 10. 'The Falling Star' is a short but deeply moving narrative adventure that leaves a lasting emotional impact. In just 30 to 40 minutes, it tells a thoughtful story about grief, memory, and unspoken family truths. The dreamlike setting feels personal and intimate, drawing the player into a world where imagination and memory gently blend together. The game’s storytelling is subtle and effective. Rather than relying on long explanations or cutscenes, the narrative unfolds through environments, objects, and the protagonist’s quiet reflections. Exploring bedrooms, abandoned factories, and the remnants of a forgotten town feels meaningful, with each space revealing another fragment of the past. The light puzzle elements fit naturally into the experience and encourage slow, thoughtful exploration. Visually, the environments maintain a calm and reflective tone, favoring symbolism over realism. The audio design features soft music and ambient sounds that support the atmosphere without overwhelming it. There is no combat, no time pressure, and no complex mechanics, making the experience approachable for a wide range of players. In conclusion, for fans of narrative driven games like 'What Remains of Edith Finch', 'Gone Home', or 'To the Moon', 'The Falling Star' is an easy recommendation. It is a short, heartfelt journey that proves a powerful story does not need to be long to be memorable. The Falling Star is a decent little free game. It has a slightly eerie atmosphere that kept things interesting, and for a free experience, I'd say it's worth checking out.
