The Entity is it trash? I mean is it uhhh... terrible game? yus it's terrible it's awful. It's just another trying hard to be a scary horror game which fails with the usual aspects of the insane darkness, the boring gameplay and bugs. 2/10 trying to be something.

Short but good game. I have a few gripes though, and did find some bugs: -Sound levels are too low; I need to crank my volume up to 100% to hear anything well -Price tag might be just a tad too much given the games length -Personally didn't like the enemy design, looks too much like a recycled design from the Aliens franchise -Nowhere near dark enough; it should be pitch dark everywhere there is no light source (I did turn the vibrance setting on my card all the way up so that might explain how I was able to see through darkness so well) -When starting a new game, sometimes the game glitches out and you only see a black screen until you hit the escape key twice -Graphics quality option keeps resetting itself to ultra; you need to set it first from the launcher, then set it again from the main menu -Turning on ALL the lights in the house barely sucks up generator power; imo having them all on should suck up the power within minutes -Your characters idle animation when looking down makes it look you're swinging from a noose or floating in the air; it would be look better imo if the feet and legs were just static Despite all these, it was very enjoyable to play (and a suggestion to the dev - could you make a halloween mode?).
The Entity: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly - a textbook case of what happens when REAL play testing is underrated and overlooked. The Good: +The use of a cellphone as a light source, with battery management, was a nice alternative to the standard flashlight trope. +Use of the generator as a pseudo game timer was also somewhat unique for this genre of game. +The interior cells and assets for the house for the most part looked decent and consistent. The Bad: -The couch in the basement was bright magenta (either it's texture was corrupt or just missing altogether). -There is bad clipping between objects and walls; between objects and player; between environment and interactive objects. -The menu UI is cumbersome and clumsy, both on the start screen and especially in game. -There was inconsistent use of object trigger boundaries; some (notes, light switches) are positional (you just need to stand near their onTrigger box), whereas others are directional (you need to be looking AT the keys to pick them up) -These object triggers can clip through walls (I've picked up keys and turned on lights through doors and walls) The Ugly: --The "DLC" is busted and never properly starts, instead giving a black screen, or somehow opening the vanilla game with no changes. --The story writing is confused, and often predictable. --Some of the scenes (outdoors, heaven, underworld) look like they're put together haphazardly - floating trees, clipping objects, scattered lighting). --Scene lighting would often break, either with lights and shadows clipping through solid objects, or all lights cease working. The Verdict: I would say "you get what you pay for," and thought $3.99 was a fair price...well, at first. Given the number of times the game flat-out broke, and that there has not been a material update in 2 years (I suspect the dev has ceased working on this title), this game should be put on perma-sale at $0.99. Only then could I say you were getting your money's worth.
Seems very unpolished.... It mostly just froze my computer or showed me a blackscreen, so I had to play on windowed in a lower quality to get it to work. I doubt this is an issue with my setup. Starting with the good, the graphics are alright, above average when it comes to small unity indie games. The sound design is good too for the most part. UI and prompts are kinda mediocre, unfortunately. The gameplay however is pretty bad. The game establishes that you can turn on lights for exploration, but if the power runs out you get caught, for some reason. Shouldn't this be some kind of challenge? Like you have to turn on lights to find stuff, but leaving too many on can break the generator leaving you exposed. Oh that would require that light could be used as defense, of course, this isn't the case. While I am fantasizing, it would have nice if this one mechanic were consistent. Some light switches simply don't turn on, some doors don't open , some plugs don't work. Your phone is the other light source, and unless it's fully charged it's literally useless, since it barely emits any light. Finding keys is the central gameplay, they are so small and hard to see, that I just ran past furniture and pressed E continously to get it. I almost forgot, there is a monster, but it got stuck between rooms so many times, that I could see it easily, it's just a human model with a black texture. A little creativity? Also the game tells you stand still, yet the monster's pathfinding is broken so if you stand still in a doorway, the monster can't go through and will just try to walk, but since you are blocking him, neither of you will get anywhere. Also, if the monster touches you are teleported to another part of the house. Is that supposed to be a penalty? Shouldn't this be something that drains resources? It's just not thought out at all. It's not even scary, since half the time the monster touched I didn't even see it. There is also a story, which at least has some mystery to it, even if it's told through notes written by people, who would never say things like that. I liked that there was some effort put into a flashback, unfortunately it all feels unfinished and unpolished and nonsensical. Had zero interest in finding the last key, so I just looked at a walkthough for the code, at which point the game broke and I got a message, that I am not supposed to be there yet. WTF?? Maybe make the game more engadging then. Running around with broken flashlight in a boring house looking for almost invisible keys is the opposite of exciting. It's not like I glitched out, players looking up the doorcode is likely possibility with every game that has these. In conclusion: Is this game scary? No. Is it fun? No. Is it at least a little interesting? No...errr very very, very little. So, just don't bother with this broken game unless you enjoy half finished indie titles. There are better free horror games on itch.io.
The Entity is a first person horror adventure game where you're trapped in a haunted house. There's no reason such a reliable premise could fail, if implemented well. The Entity is not implemented well. It's been slapped together with Unity and features a lot of store bought assets. The general assembly of the game is sloppy and haphazard. The game maps PC gaming peripherals (HOTAS, Pedals, Racing Wheels etc) as if they are console peasant children's toy gamepads. This makes the player spin constantly in one direction and makes the game completely unplayable. There's no way to turn this off. This would have been picked up with basic testing on PC.
